- Cap Ferret has long been a peninsula of oystermen in southwestern France near Bordeaux that boasts the widest and longest (312 km) of beaches in Europe. Bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean and the other side by the Bay of Arcachon, the oyster beds are still, here, but Cap Ferret is also a vacation spot little-known by Americans but beloved by the French.

So glad to see you again! It’s been a while!
enjoyed this very much.
Thanks, Tawny. It's mild in the winter in Cap Ferret--I'm here now on Dec. 26 , 2021. Temps in 50s thought it's supposed tor each 70s in January. Summer it's hot but not unbearable because of cooling effect of the ocean and breezes. But you don't need to pack too many clothes!
OMG! Thank you for opening my eyes to this wonderful "must visit" part of the world!
Couldn't agree more Mark. For hotels, consider Archachon just a quick ferry ride away from Cap Ferret. (There aren't many hotel rooms on Cap Ferret.)
very informative. thank you =) going to Bordeaux in few weeks and will def include this on my itinerary !
Hope you enjoy it!
Delightful! All so informative, charming, inspirational, and FUN! What a life! Is there a way I can be transported there right now?!?
If there is, please let me know soonest!!
Hello, Rudy. Does the train to the beach make more than trip to the beach a day?
My husband and I loved this video. Ah oysters, oysters.
You have try the Cannele at Marc Heu Patisserie Paris, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. They are exquisite.
The train runs back and forth all day, Tina. And, yes, I'm a big Marc Heu fan in St Paul!
Tina, the train runs back and forth all day until sunset. It's just a little thing and a short ride! And I will try the Cannele in the town in which I live!
like the color of your bike
It's actually my daughter's bike, but it's mine for my stay here with her and the family.
Love the cheeses
Always!!!!
Is this place part of your travel tour in 2022?
No. I'm here visiting my granddaughters. Maybe someday!
It's about 78 or 80 on Cap Ferret thanks to the Atlantic Ocean. In Bordeaux, the city, it's supposed to be very hot the next few days--in the upper 80s and 90s. Which is very hot for the region.
It’s not hot? We’re sweltering here
