Just so everyone is aware, Coco-Betaine is different from cocamidoproyl betaine. The adowa beauty cleanser contains Cocamidopropyl betaine. Cocamidoproyl betaine is not a gentle cleanser. It may be gentler than sulfates but its a moderate cleansing agent. It can also be irritating. If it can remove silicones that should indicate its stronger than one would think. Depending on some people's hair this can be harsh on their strands as opposed to other cleansing agents. Thats why some naturals say some sulfate free shampoos is worse than using sulfates lol.....As you touched on in the video, cleansing agents in products can differ on how they perform if combined with other cleansing agents vs. being the only cleansing agent.
I use to love using TJ tea tree tingle as a clarifying shampoo. But transitioned to hair care products being black owned.
I currently am trying to cowash mid week with shampooing once a week.

I personally don't like conditioner washing my hair. I have fine hair and I must properly cleanse my hair once a week. I would probably use a conditioner cleanse during the week if I sweat or go to the gym.

My usual regimen is Castile Soap and DC on the weekends; 1-2 midweek co-washes (method not product). I’m excited to go back to daily co-washing this summer and doing conditioner only WNGs. I’m experimenting now since everything is shut down.

The actual “cowash” by Cantù was a game changer for my hair. Didn’t even know my hair could look/ feel so good. My Cuban friend recommended it to me.

I cowash midweek and I only cowash if I didn't use a ton of products or a product with a ton of oils

This was GREAT CONTENT!!! I wish I knew this in Jan 2020 ---I started regimen and did not clarify every 5-7 days...my hair is shedding so bad within the last 30 days. I started clarifing weekly and f/u with Adwoa Beauty Shampoo, a protein treatment aslo helped. Yesterday was WASH DAY and I saw a decrease in shedding----it's recovering!!! Thank you for such good content!!!!

I agree. I co wash mostly during the Summer and used a sulfate shampoo as well as moisturizing (all natural shampoo) myself. It depend on what other products I used within the week before wash day.

Great video! I mostly use cleansing shampoos. I don't mind the feeling of my hair being stripped. I just replenish with a good dc. I only may cowash if I sweat really bad in the summer. I can't stand smelly hair loll so will do that. Just being real loll 😂😅

I personally don't co wash, I did when I first started learning about my hair and I was at uni and I was doing a lot of work at our uni farm so I needed to wash my hair more often and didn't wanna strip my hair too much. I always shampoo cuz im low porosity and i use butters and sometimes grease, so I get a lot of product build up and need something with a deeper clean! :)

Due to a scalp condition, My dermatologist advised me to keep my scalp as clean as possible. And since I work out intensely I might add. Are you shampoo twice a week and carwash in between. Since I am a black swimmer

CO-washing or a more moisturizing shampoo, it never worked for me. I have SD, seborrheic dermatitis and really *always* have to cleanse the absolute *crap* (LOL) out of my scalp & hair. It is a bit drying and so I double mask or double condition, all the time, every time I wash my hair, which is weekly.

Marleen G. My SD sister!!! It’s interesting how we’re all so different. I’ve suffered from really bad SD for over 35 years (started when I was a teenager). And would just suffer through scalp burns/irritation with every relaxer touch up - somehow, it seemed to almost “reset” my scalp & it would be better for a while (guess it burned off the stuff that causes it, plus the buildup). Now that I’m natural, I find that I don’t need harsh shampoos. Thank goodness, cause I have professionally bleached highlights. So I wash once/week with fairly mild shampoos, and cowash midweek. Clarify once/month as I do use some products w/silicones at times. I wonder if getting water on my scalp that often maybe helps? Who knows... But you hang in there & do what works best for you. 💕

@@deeh9563 Thank you so much. I have wavy/curly hair myself (just a loose pattern), so you think I would benefit from not drying it out too much, but I still need the harsher shampoos. It is what it is, I guess. I can still condition it to bits. LOL!

What do you think of doing a hot oil treatment before using a cleansing conditioner ? Is better do it before a shampoo ?
