Very ingenious project! Reduce, reuse, and recycle my favorite motto. Great video. The water from overflow pipe would provide excellent compost tea!!
Such a great idea and I am sure that you will get a few years of use with little if any cost for the project. Having been a residential recycler for several years and scrapped out, and I would say Hundreds upon hundreds of refrigerators encountering many home Gardeners whom I am sure would have loved such a great idea 💡😉. Hi Sarah and Luke, it's the first time I see this technique of self watering raised bed.
I'm thinking very hard about trying one self watering raised bed this year. I can see Luke in the picture next to the greens growing out of the bed. Is that rocket?

Rocket again because the sun was too strong for it and it went to seed quite early and this fridge has much more shade 😁
You have fern growing and summer is here? There's likely water under that area.

It's a self watering bed.. so you fill the reservoir and the plants take the water they need.

Could you harvest water from the roof to water the bed? I know that is rain dependent. Do you get enough rain for that to be viable?

It's not rain dependent. You just fill up the reservoir every week or so
