  • I made this re-recorded instrumental rendition of Fireproof just for some extra mixing practice (specifically wanted to see how mixing solely on consumer grade headphones would go, this is the result. I think I left the snare a liiiittle too pokey, but the videos already uploaded lol) and figured I'd throw a quick guitar playthrough type video together for it and put it up here. I didn't include every single guitar part in the video cause some you can't even pick out and are just there to fill space so I just included the main ones.
    Tuning: Drop D
For the fellow gear nerds if interested:
    Guitar:
    - Ibanez RG2770FZ Prestige (only for the video, I actually recorded the guitars with a Squier Bullet Telecaster)
    - Horizon Devices Precision Drive
    - EVH 5150 III S EL34 and Neural DSP Fortin Nameless for different parts
    - Zilla Fatboy 2x12 with dual SM57s
    Bass:
    - Squier Vintage Modified 70s Precision Bass PJ w/Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders
-Parallel processed with EVH 5150 III S EL34 blue channel
    Drums:
    - Ludwig Supraphonic 14x6.5" Snare
    - Tama Starclassic 24x16" Kick
    - Pearl Reference 13x9", 16x16", 18x16" Toms
    - Meinl Byzance MB20 Hi-Hats
    - Meinl Byzance MB20 Medium Heavy 18" Crash and Heavy 20" Crash
    - Meinl Byzance Traditional Heavy Ride

How many Ibanezes do you own??😂 its like a different one every video lol. This sounds awesome though, top notch work like usual. How do you get that main rhythm tone? The stuff on gravity has a way different sound than fever for example and you got it pretty good

Lol, I have 4 RGs. 9 guitars total including basses. I cycle through gear a lot but this one is the newest permanent addition. This one, the two orange ones and the greenish bluish one aren't leaving, also the red Squier bass. Anything else you see will come and go. As for the tone, Gravity was all single coils and that's actually what I used for this recording. I did it with a 170 dollar Squier Bullet Telecaster and just used the RG for the vid cause it looks cool. The chorus guitars have a humbucker guitar layered underneath them but aside from that, it's all telecaster

@@jhmusic1would a split humbucker sound similar? I don't have anything with single coils lol, also what are the other 5 guitars

@@yeet-or1crit'll sound close-ish.. maybe? Just try it out. The issue with that is that it's a split humbucker, not a true traditional single coil and it's not in the right spot. Telecasters have a very distinct sound that you can't get from anything without the telecaster pickup and the telecaster bridge in the correct location. It's a super cool sound under gain. I recorded these with the tone at 10 but if you roll it back and hit it with an overdrive it sounds really cool. Somewhere between humbucker and single coil. The other 5 guitars are a Squier Affinity Telecaster, a Squier 40th Anniversary Strat, a 92 Fender Standard Tele, a Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V and the red Squier VM P Bass I've had in some vids. Excuse the essay of a message I just typed out haha

Sounds great. It would be great to see Lullaby from Fever as well.

Thanks! I had the rest of the fever vids done and lost them to a hard drive crash so I gotta reshoot/edit them. Lullaby would probably be the next one up, just gotta get around to it
