That was my first drive with the faceplated trans. Double clutching is the most surefire way to keep the plates from clashing/clunking on upshifts. Now that I've got more miles under my belt and gotten used to it I can get it to upshift quiet/smooth without double clutching.
any tips for face plated beginners? I have an evo 9 w/ libertys gears face plated and It seems difficult to drive at slow speeds/lower rpm shifting- any tips would be much appreciated!
Seems like a double clutch downshift would be the ticket. It seemed like you hard revved the slow downshifts a couple of times. I can't wait to build my transmission
The rev matching on the down shift should be clutch out of gear throttle blip clutch in to gear like a double clutch with a throttle blip in the middle
I dont understand the down shift, Why punish the motor and drive train. Changing brake pads is easy and cheap. I do it in my tractor to put it on the JAKE but thats it.
An approximate 1000rpm difference is what you are looking for. Technically you dont have to double clutch from 1-2, 2-3, or 3-4. It is more timing based and this double clutching allows for that drop in 1000 rpm decrease. On the reverse 5-4, 4-3, 3-2 you need to increase engine speed by 1000rpm. A blip of the throttle and a quick shift to down shift.
Okay I know this is an old video, but out of curiousity, how did these faceplates hold up? Can you rev match and shift without the clutch like you would with a synchro-box? I daily my car only using the clutch from a stop as it makes city driving that much easier and I've gotten used to not pushing the shifter into gear until the revs are close to matched. City driving is generally really smooth and I have even gotten used to clutchless rev-matched heel-toe downshifting my synchro-box, but I get sick and tired of ocasionally not getting into gear. Sometimes the blocker ring skips right past it's slot and I have to re-rev it or clutch in to get into gear, so as a result I'm considering either scrapping the synchros or converting to face-plated gears. Longevity is obviously important for me as it's a daily. Please get back to me, I appreciate the help. Not many people run face-plated gears on the street.
Harrison Dodge trans is still in the car and working fine. The car is twin turbo now and makes over 1000rwhp turned up and 700 on wastegates. The faceplates will outlast a blocker ring/synchro if you don’t clash them. In a t56, the faceplates are welded onto a stock gear, and liberty recommends not clutch less shifting because of that. Purpose built dog boxes with plates built into the gear are going to be stronger and handle clutchless shifts better. That said, I rarely shift without the clutch but I’ve done it. You have to be fast with the shifter with and without the clutch to keep from clashing plates. I went through the trans a couple years ago and put fork pads in it, everything else looked new still.
Did you get that done through Liberty's Gears? I would like that done to my 3000GT transmission but they couldn't even give me a ballpark price on it lol
4th gen camaro isnt very heavy, the new version is about 600 more lbs than a 4th gen with a lt1 .... and its only 200 more lbs than a 2017 z06 vett ... i have a 95 lt1 z28 and its agile enough for me.
The video should start 6:20 in.... I’m reading Camaro but it’s like watching someone shift a peterbuilt

supernice_auto dont be easy with it

It's about $750 for the hubs/sliders and to have your gears/cluster modified through Liberty Gears

I thought you were in the Mobil Economy Run until about 6:40.
Woah once you hit the second round about that’s Topeka kansas😂😂 petroleum deli got the best gizzards around
Purple shorts dude.Come onnnn maaaaannnnnnnnnn.😳
Yes Liberty modified the gears for me and I built the trans.
Why do I see you double clutching on the upshift, but not on the down shift?
I have the same question about why there's no double clutching on the downshifts.
thought the double clutch was for the downshifts

i thought you dont use the clutch for a facplated trans , only for comming out of 1st gear
Jeeez talk about not pissin in your own back yard

Hole Lee Sheet! That thing Bangs!!!
Why are you double-clutching it..? It’s faceplated...
Just curious about why your double clutching up shifts ?
I was going to ask same question
@@cooterbrown7681 Yes. makes no sense along with blipping the throttle while down shifting with the clutch IN????
Was this an ls1 or lt1 car?
Stomping that clutch like it owes you money haha 6:44
turn your speakers on?!
so faceplated ... does that mean you can shift clutch-less easier like a stock car?

Nice! Whats the cost to face plate a T56?
does it make rev matching harder?
Not that I've noticed
Why dont they recommended this for the streets?
Pointless double clutching! Won't effect longevity only noise!
@6:44
THANK YOU
now take a 1000 lbs out of the car or put that motor in a 2200 lb factory five hotrod,a second quicker.
