Owen James Hart (May 7, 1965 - May 23, 1999)[1] was a Canadian professional wrestler and amateur wrestler who worked for several promotions including Stampede Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). He received most of his success in the WWF, where he wrestled under both his own name and the ring name The Blue Blazer.
A member of the Hart wrestling family, he was born in Calgary, Alberta, the youngest of twelve children of Stampede Wrestling promoters Stu and Helen Hart. Among other accolades, Owen was a one-time USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion, a two-time WWF Intercontinental Champion, a one-time WWF European Champion, and a four-time WWF World Tag Team Champion, as well as the 1994 WWF King of the Ring. He headlined multiple pay-per-view events for the WWF, and was widely regarded as one of the company's best in-ring performers.
Hart died on May 23, 1999, due to injuries following an equipment malfunction and fall from the rafters of Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri, United States, during his ring entrance at the WWF's Over the Edge pay-per-view - Zábava
I knew Owen personally, I would take him to the gym or dinner or wherever he wanted to go when the WWE was in Baltimore. He was the nicest person you could ever meet and always was in a good mood and good to the fans. RIP Owen you are missed buddy
for the Baltimore arena? or whatever its called now
@@BuffaloNyBornRaised it is still the Baltimore Arena
Heard he was a really nice person.
@@mikemay3678 royal farms arena
@@BuffaloNyBornRaised yes it is called Royal Farms arena but I still call it Baltimore Arena Or Civic Center lol
I had the opportunity to meet Owen less than a year before he died. I was going to have surgery a couple days later, Owen came from behind the autograph table he was at, knelt down and prayed for me. Many months later, I was in the then Kemper Arena the night he died.
When he first fell, I was looking in the opposite direction and immediately leard the loud impact over the audio from the large “titantron” playing a pre-recorded promo filmed earlier that day. When the lights came on and everyone could see Owen laying in the ring, at first some wondered if it was apart of the show but within seconds, I knew it wasn’t. I could catch a small glimpse of him as he was being carried out and knew it would be announced that he died. Owen’s eyes were wide open and he wasn’t blinking, not talking, etc and CPR was being given to him and it seemed as though a ton of people were surrounding him as he was being carried out. Owen was a hell of a guy and over 20 years since his tragic death is terribly missed by many, myself included.
It was a gym and he was beyond the beautiful and I know that we can't always hold on to these gems that we are so Grace to have in our life but he was a dynamic person and beyond kind it is with the deepest deepest sorrow did I you know say that we lost such a beautiful gym but somewhere in the Milky Way he's shining we were greatly blessed sometimes we don't realize how blessed we are until after they're gone he was a dynamic human being.

What a lovely story, Owen was a great guy!!! Aww man, I have heard stories about that night, It was just terrible what happned to him. I hope he is resting in peace I know that he is since he was such a lovely man.
wow, Crazy how things play out in life isn't it.
That’s powerful that he came from where he was and prayed for you ❤️
The Hart Family was an institution here in Calgary. The funeral was massive closing down the street in front of the Funeral home. I lived beside the Cemetery, there was roads blocked off in and out, but from my place I still had a great view of the funeral procession into the cemetery
I would visit the mansion house with my boyfriend he lives in Cranford Ave I live in Calgary
Owen took mine and my sisters popcorn and threw it at us when we were kids when he was a heel in the 90s. We loved every minute of it
Witness said as he was falling he shouted "watch out" ... in his last moments he still tried to protect the referee in the ring from being hurt as well.. what can you say other than this was an incredible human being who lost his life way to soon..
He was an incredible man for sure
He didn't say nothing he screamed
@@johnnersinger9771 Were you there? Did you hear Owen scream? I am sure he did, but he also by many people said WATCH OUT!!!
Thanks for helping me find Owen’s final resting place. I was able to pay my respects today. ❤
Owen's death was preventable it's a shame his life had to end in a tragic way SMH Rest in Paradise King of Hearts
What a sad tragic story. He was so young and with a young family. RIP Owen.
Hey Jana, you look familiar, where do you live?
That looks caacold
Damn that graveyard looks real cold and lonely
@@marcosvalley6659 Ew dude, stop being creepy!
Maybe if the attitude era fans weren’t so hard on him he would still be here.
Owen was the best athlete in the family. Alot of people don't know it but he did have a few matches in WCW before going to the WWF. RIP King of Harts!
Uuuuuuuuuuu
I was 21 years old when Owen died and at work while my girlfriend recorded the pay per view for me. I came home to watch the show and cried like a baby. It's been such a long time and I still cry for Owen watching this video, which is beautifully done Scott, thank you! I named my youngest son after Owen.
R.I.P.
Jim Cornette said it best about that night "a man just died, what happened? It wasn't suicide, let's stop the show and investigate.. nah let's have 3-4 more matches instead" the show should of been stopped because it was now a crime scene where a wrestler died and his blood laid on the mat the whole show.
Yup. Definitely should’ve been investigated. Vinny Mac fucked up big time on that one
Great Point, Sir.
Absolutely agree the show should have been stopped.
If u watch the show the blood on the apron/mat is there before Owen even falls. Its not his
@@ericmiller8596 ~ You Are Most Likely Correct. There WERE Matches There Ahead Of His.
Sad part was that ppv vhs you couldn't get. I remember watching Owen like it was yesterday. He was very talented.
I grew up watching WWE/WWF, I was watching the day he passed and I was in shock to say the least and when they announced he had passed I lost it, I cried for hours. He was a legend and is so missed to this day. He gave everything of himself every time he stepped in the ring , he was amazing. Such a huge loss... May he forever rest in heavenly peace. 💐💝
Rest in peace Owen Hart🙏🙏🙏So tragic.
Hi Marie
I will never forget that PPV 😢. He was one of the greats. Glad to hear that the famous Hart house is a historic site. Thanks for this video Scott 🤝.
I cried as I watched. So sad
The scenery in this vlog is breathtaking. What a sad ending to a marvelous athlete and family man, but how cool that the family home was saved. I am so happy you got to visit there, and take us along with you. Rest in peace, Owen, and safe travels, Scott.
I remember the whole story about Owen Hart it is tragic for something that could have been prevented. Never have met him personally but heard he was a nice guy. Thanks for letting ppl see his childhood home and where he is at peace. Rip Owen
I remember when this accident happened. Completely preventable. If you havent already, i'd recommend watching the episode around Owen Hart on Dark Side of the Ring. Heartbreaking
Just hearing Jim Ross make that call again breaks my heart. I was watching that ppv with a friend that night. Man, what a terrible night 😥
I remember him, still brings tears to my eyes. RIP Owen. You are remembered.
Sad story. Owen Hart was a good wrestler.
I was there when the accident happened. I was only 11 years old and 13 rows from the ring. I'm 32 now and will never forget that night. Your absolutely right everyone thought it was a doll until the King ran over to him and signaled for EMTs. A dozen or so wrestlers came out to the top of the entrance ramp. Some were breaking down others were comforting them. After removing him from sight they made an announcement that he had passed and that they were going to continue the show in his honor, which at the time I didn't realize how messed up that was. The rest of the night there was no energy in that arena, no chants, no boo's, no nothing. The remaining matches were hard to watch because you could see the pain the other wrestlers were in. It was by far one of the craziest things to happen in my childhood. R.I.P Owen
Insane you were there. Did your family ever talk about it?
I know someone who was there and there was never an announcement made to the crowd. People who were there didn't even know he had died until they got home.
Either you're lying or misremembering.
I was a huge 80 --90s wrestling lover. We all miss Owen Hart. 💟💟💟🌷
Thank you for sharing. I met Bret and Ross very sweet men. I had the honor of seeing owen wrestle live. Im a proud canadian my great grandparents are from canada 🇨🇦 i hope one day to go to canada and visit owens stu and helens grave and pay respect.
I was stunned and heartbroken when this tragedy occurred, it was totally unnecessary for him to have done the stunt in the first place. Great video Scott very respectful and informative
I agree the stunt was completely unnecessary. May he rip...
To be clear Stu Heart wasnt just a "pro wrestler" He was legitimate fighter with legitimate skills. He was an amatuer wrestler that won several championships
Canadian National Welterweight Champion
Canadian National Light Heavyweight Champion (for 6 undefeated years).
Thank you for taking the time to visit Owen. I would love to do the same one day.
Scott on tape, I really enjoy your visitations to ''famous people graves'' you are so ''humble & respectful''.
Rip Owen Hart 🙏🌹.
Such a tragedy, RIP Owen Hart 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I remember I was watching the show when the tragedy happened. Aweful
I agree with you. Owen and his story and death. Is heartbreaking.
I was a fan of hart foundation way back in the day
Wow that was a really good comment .want a cookie ?
What a tragic ending to a promising career. RIP Owen 😢
The fact that Owen was telling people to move out the way coming down was sad and crazy. He went chest first on the buckle as I remember hearing in a interview
Thanks Scott for doing this one! Owen was such a talented wrestler and was a great guy in real life. I will never forget hearing the news.. my brother came into my room and said Owen Hart fell from the ceiling he's dead :(
I have been a wrestling fan since the late 70's. Was watching the pay per view when Owen fell to his death. Just awful. RIP Owen
This message is by far the most emotional I have ever been while watching grave videos. Thank you for showing this.
Been waiting on you to do this. Thank You Scott. Owen was a legend.
I am a huge Hart Family fan. Thank you for this video. You are so respectful in your memorial videos. I appreciate it.
Nice respectful video, you did the tribute video in the right way with the focus on Owen and his memory and not trying to get yourself over. Thanks for doing this Scott. RIP Owen :(
Hey Scott. I remember the tragic event like it was yesterday we had just ordered the payperview and were waiting for it to start when they announced that owen hart had fell into the ring from the rafters.so sad. good Tribute to the hart family. Thank you for posting this.

What a sad turn of events. RIP Owen. And what a nice video. Informative, but moreover very compassionate, respectful, measured and empathetic.
The Hart Dungeon should be a Museum . They would do well
Thank you UNIQUE for doing this video . Well done beautiful
I’ve been to Edmonton and Grande Prairie but never in July. You braved the cold of going way beyond the 48th parallel nearly 2000 miles north of Chicago or Toronto or Detroit to show us this. Respect Man. Thank you.
I remember this so well was such a sad day in wrestling with the death of Owen. Thanks for that Scotty!
Scott, your videos are amazing! You are doing such a magnificent job of telling the stories with passion and excellence! Keep the great job UK my fried!!
They should've stopped the PPV , I know I would've stopped it. RIP Owen🙏
This was great, thanks. This is a trip I’d like to do one day, so nice to see the Hart House and a respectful and informative tribute to Owen.
Thank you so much for watching ✌🏽✌🏽
Thank you for sharing this video👍🏼
Owen was right up there with the best. An incredible wrestler in his own right. Fond memories. Great video. Cheers!
Owen was a personal friend of ours , He was indeed the nicest person one could ever meet . So kind and generous . Always held a smile babyface or Heel . Owen is deeply loved and missed xx I love you owen .Rest in peace
I really enjoy your videos. I appreciate the way you show respect to the fallen. This death really made things even more strained between Bret Hart and Vince McMahon. Just a sad situation even til this day.
So sad to see so young and cut down in his prime like that sad
Very well done and respectful. Thank you so much for sharing. I’m still blown away by this situation. Very nice to see this all current day.
Thank you for sharing your experience while providing context for those who did not know of him. I still remember the day and since I was younger at the time, not really understanding.
Thank you for sharing this video, being from Canada,Toronto, the Hart family is well know and respected,❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦,he is sadly missed

Great to see you back on your journey!
Thank you for such a respectful and interesting video. I had the chance to meet Owen, Davey Boy, Helen and Stu Hart the weekend of Wrestlemania 13 in Chicago. Such lovely people! You have inspired my to feature the Hart Family in a future video on my YT channel.
Thanks again!
You’re welcome ! I look forward to seeing your video !
SCOTT THANK YOU. I GREW UP WATCHING WWF.
Gone too soon, another Toronto resident here that was a big wrestling fan growing up until about 93 or 94 so caught the beginning of his career and remember when the news broke that he died, very sad and excellent video Scott. New to your channel and you do an amazing job
Thanks for this. I visited his grave two years ago. Brings back memories.
Hi there! Fellow Calgarian here. The Hart Family means so much to this city. We were all absolutely heartbroken when it happened, we’re heartbroken over any tragedy the Hart Family has faced. Calgary is like the biggest small town on earth. They felt like our own family. ❤️
Thank you. I loved this video
RIP Owen Hart 😢
I remember watching that PPV match when it happened I will never forget
I remember that day, I was watching WWE and seen that part . Man cried my eyes out for him. Such a great person and performer
Thanks for telling that tragic story in such a beautiful place. Amazing work Scott ❤️✌️
Thank you Jamie
Such a lovely video, thank you Scott
Thank you for sharing my late son loved to watch wrestling
It still makes me sick to this very day thinking about it. His Aorta was split open and all of his blood ran into his lungs from falling from the top of the area and hitting the top rope that decapitated him. I have despised this company ever since this happened. RIP Owen James Hart.
Omg i didn't know that. . .how awful
Owen was not decapitated, even Martha said on the Dark Side of the Ring, he looked normal. Quit spouting things that aren't true!!
@@piscesempress1978 they probably meant that he was decapitated internally.
Thanks for this video Scott 💚
I love how respectful you are, rip owen hart
You and bret at wrestlemania 10 and summerslam 94 were something so special.
Thanks for all the things you did in the wrestling industry.
Hi Scott I'm a born and raised Calgarian , those houses are 20-25 years olds. Prior to that construction you could see the Hart House from many areas. FYI my Grandparents are buried ~ 30 feet from Owen Hart's grave . I regularly attended Stampede Wrestling in my youth
As a lifelong wrestling fan, I appreciate this a lot. I've been waiting for someone to make this video for a long time. When the borders open back up, you should do the Benoit house in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Travel Zombie they have done story on Chris Benoit CZcams has it I came across it
I met Benoit in 1998, when he was in the WCW. They all happened to be staying at the hotel my family and I were. When I met him, he was beyond drunk. He was barely able to stand upright.
Wow great video. I used to watch wrestling years back. Love the snow also. Be safe🙏❤
Thanks for your videos. I really enjoy them.
You finally do the owen hart grave that told you for years.
Thank you for sharing this rip
I remember when that happened to Owen Hart.i used to LOVE Brett Hart. I went to a wrestling match with my parents when they came to Thunder Bay. I was a Tom boy. I Loved watching wrestling
Well done and respectful. Bless you
I used to work at a smitty’s restaurant located in Montgomery Calgary, Owen hart used to go there a lot with his wife and his baby. The last time I saw him alive was in 1997, he came in the restaurant. He had a broken leg at the time, his leg was sticking out of the booth he was in and I had to step over his leg when I passed his table. The graveyard he is buried is queens park cemetery, I used to live right beside there in a condominium called queens park village, I miss that place. Sadly a lot of my family members are buried in queens park cemetery as well. The smitty’s I used to work at is now a humpty’s restaurant located on 16th ave northwest.
When this happen I was 19 I still remember Until this day he will always be miss man
When this happened i was 31
I was 19 too and my family and i remember that day. It was so sad...
What an incredibly moving video Scott!💛
Born and raised in Kansas City, MO. I wasn’t at the event nor did I see it on pay-per-view that night, but I heard about it from friends. Still can’t drive by that arena without thinking about Owen. RIP Owen Hart!
Well done Scott. Sorry yo weren't able to get closer to the Hart house... Or see Owens' house he built.. But all in all, a well done job!
Very good that all me gustan todos los vídeos muchas gracias che
Very well done. Great job on this, love the nostalgia of seeing that famous house with the dungeon. Could watch these all day. Would be cool if you could go to different iconic places time to time. Thanks
The house looks so lonely. A sad mood.🥺🕊️
Hell ya man I just saw this one great job man keep it up homie
Rest In Peace Owen Hart! Noone will ever forget you!
