I like that first mix. Sweaty controller DJs in 2020 think doing safe mixes for 2 phrases is the ultimate in mixing, then going ham on EQs as if they are making the track live, and old school DJing is prehistoric. Makes me laugh, they mix like cavemen with zero skill or song knowledge to actually attempt long transitions where two records play at the same time for a long period, and the phrases change underneath, creating something new. DJing has devolved, not only because they use CPU assisted beat matching, it's that they don't even know or try to put good mixes together. It's all 30 second fade mixes then dance around for 5 minutes looking into the sky as if they're on Prozac, and twiddling the knobs as if they are getting electric shocks, half of what they do is inaudible or already in the music itself. Hot dogging and glory hounding without the effort.
And there it is right there. I can’t say that my mixes are flawless or close to perfect but at the very least they are real. Mixes at the house parties, raves and warehouses were never perfect but it was the best time. Before BPM assist came out is the true era. Your spot on with the feeling that not many will ever understand. Learning how to mix on straight arms and dial speed control. Fun stuff. You may like the 95-2000 house mix I put up. There are many vocal blends and reworks. Even check out the last half of the Electric Boogaloo Freestyle mix. I put up a lot of long lyrical remix type transitions. Enjoy. Most of all thanks for noticing the art and feel of it all.
Buenos temas de House....pero al ser de distintas etapas del house....no combinan unos temas con otros...por la misma evolución que tuvieron los sonidos y el tempo.
Nice mix but why not to just use your master volume knob??? Faders are not meant to be on the midle, anyways it was a really nice mix as i said with nice tunes and i really enjoyed it
Hello Tsak. Vinyl recording levels are not the same. Although the variance may be very slight, at times, the independent new track fader level must be brought up higher than the ongoing fader level during the mix and stay there at that increased fader adjustment. I set gains for each line just into the amber. The fader levels are set to 7. Older vinyl (I don’t have new records) will at times play together 1st track level 7 and 2nd track at 8.5 for example. Topping out upright faders are for battle DJ’s as they scratch and style with upright technique and need that top out feel to be sure where there are at within the line. In addition, a battle arena setting and its audience is not such to be in tune with nuance of fades and blends. A battle DJ might touch a gain once in a 3 round battle (turntable mixer only era with zero assists). When mixing at a club gains should not be touched because of the club system. Using the faders as volume control with that extra room for moving up ensures no peak out, distortion or cut. It might be that the older generation is more into presentation of tracks. Submitting tracks that the artist made. The slamming up of upright faders to max is usually a sign that a DJ is trying to come across and presenting a break or intro as something they are doing when it’s usually already built into a track. This is also evident with twisty knob DJ’s. They tend to twist knobs to make the audience believe they are dropping a break or a intro although it’s built into the track already. I try to mix in a presentation manner. Check out my house mix 2. It showcases vocals blended together where the increase in volume needed may be more evident.
