As a professional carpet / rug cleaner this a very good video. It's all you need to know. I like that he did point out that woollen carpets are different. If you're cleaning wool, especially Persian, Oriental, valuable rugs then you need professional advice. Bravo.
"No Professional Equipment" bro pulls out the Carpet Cleanator 2000
That's not professional. U can probably find that at Walmart
Exactly
No professional equipment!!
You might be able to get it at Walmart but unless you're in a massive house you wouldn't have space for that giant thing. Neither do a lot of people have a giant garage where you can pressure wash and flood your entire carpet.
What giant thing? I have an older version on that same carpet cleaner and it's the size of the vacuum I have.
If I had that machine, I wouldn’t be searching CZcams for how to do this at home
We have one, but wanted to learn how to clean rugs without ruining hardwood. Watching this video taught us not to put shampoo in the machine which I appreciate.
As someone living in apartments all my life - never owned any of the tools that you used 🤣 that huge hoover that's specifically intended for carpets - I would call that professional equipment, actually. I wouldn't own one unless I had a huge house full of carpets or worked in professional cleaning 🤷🏻♀️
How about a video on how to clean your carpet in an apartment with wooden floors, meaning no flooding stuff with water and no bulky equipment 😅
best bet would be to take it to a DIY car wash and powerwash /squeegee it there. you could even lay it out on top of your car and let it dry on a hot day
@@tateaustinj that's a good idea. I have no idea where we have these, but they should exist 👍
@@ElenaVexlerany self car wash usually has hot soapy water you can use. Or you can just buy a tarp and id highly recommend a brush on like a broom stick so you don’t have to scrub on your hands and knees and do it outside. That’s what I’m doing. My rugs already rolled up because it got wet and almost ruined my floors. Totally agree though this isn’t like a quick thing you can do in a day. You need planning and time and good weather to ensure your rug dries outside before you bring it back in and ruin those wooden floors. I’ve gotta clean mine but we’ve got some rain coming tomorrow afternoon cause of course we do when that’s the time I was going to do it haha 😬
@@Stephaniemickle mine is ikea, I'm considering just getting a new one 🤣
Please be careful with power washing rugs at a car wash - I just watched a video where a woman ruined her beautiful wool rug at the car wash and had to hire a professional. Her gorgeous rug was moldy (from car-wash rug cleaning advice she took from YT / TikTok ) and it took hours of professional restoration because of the bad advice she received. 😣
Most of these cleaning devices aren’t that expensive and are a great investment if you want your place clean while saving a ton of money on hiring professional cleaning. I have a Bissell upright hydrosteam and a portable shark upholstery cleaner - combined, both of these professional devices are slightly under five-hundred. I love my floors and upholstery clean all the time - especially to prevent microbial growth, dust mites, allergens, etc., so it’s worth it. Using these devices also makes for an amazing workout. 😎
This is a first class video and has given me what knowledge I need to do mine. In the past I have always put carpet cleaning liquid into the washer and never rinsed with clean water ( although I never like the idea of not rinsing - dishes or anything else ) and, of course, as the video says, you leave a sticky soapy residue behind, thus your clean rug is filthy again in no time. I know what to do now and am very grateful. Great advice and a very well presented video.
This is exactly what the general pop. needs. Not everyone can afford or has access to professional tools or equipment.
That is an excellent method, thanks.
Next time i want something done, I'll ask a friend to do a video of them doing it.
Thanks for the video and all the links in your write-up. I especially appreciate the link to what you used to create your videos; and your upbeat energy. I watched 4 other area rug cleaners before yours. This is the best one. Thank You. : )
This is something that I would definitely do outside on a concrete patio.
Next time I'm definitely going to try this method with the machine! One of my favorite videos yet!!!
Happy cleaning to you Crystal!!
You should get a Nobel prize for this vid. Fantastic
Thanks very much - outstanding video. Followed your instructions exactly, and the result on a very dirty wall to wall carpet that was last cleaned professionally more than 5 years ago, was as good or better than the 'professional'!
That’s so awesome to hear! 🙂
Excellent video! Thank you for the training video!
Hey Jaime! Thanks much!
Overall the video offers a wealth of information that has significantly expanded my understanding of cleaning an area floor carpet. The content is presented in a manner, that makes it a resource for anyone looking to deepen their knowledge of cleaning a carpet.
You do laundry very well and I hope to be as successful as you in helping others to do laundry better. Thank you 👍🏻😊🌹
Great video, loved this. We bought the equipment you mention and followed your directions and it worked perfectly!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I bought a Bissell carpet cleaner a while back and used it per instructions however it didnt get as clean. I bought the Zep high traffic, i vaccumed the top twicr and bottom once. The rug came out great! I proceeded to clean 2 other rugs the same way and they all turned out great!
Did u still use your bissell to extract the water from rug?? I’m wondering if I should do the same
thank you soooooo much for this video - i'm going to use it to clean an old rug i just inherited!
If you don’t want to buy a shampooer I would suggest the libman nitty gritty sponge mop (17$) plant watering can ( 5$) large squeegee (6$) blue tarp (3$). I was able to clean my carpet under 40$
I would add a box fan to speed up the drying process but that could work!
@@CleanThatUp definitely!! I used one I found In the garage haha
Excellent video. I had know idea how to start and there are many great tips that make sense.
Thanks for this video. I will have to try it!
This is awesome thank you
So happy I could help! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
How do you feel about adding a little distilled white vinegar with fresh water to the carpet cleaner to flush out the cleaner that was pre-sprayed? I do this myself and find that it works really well!
In the carpet cleaning world we call that an acid rinse and can work great! It will also deodorize your carpet 🙂
Hey, great video man awesome idea about the pump sprayer and just using the carpet cleaner with water. I question is what kind of chemicals would you use in a more professional setting?
Would you recommend sucking the water from the bottom of the rug first and then doing the top?
Good demonstration
This is so helpful
You mentioned at the end of your video to not to use the squiggly on wool, or did you mean not to use the home method on wool? Thanks!
Question: can you / should you use the carpet cleaner on the underside of the rug?
I noticed you vacuumed both sides, but didn't shampoo...
Thank you!
would you recommend this method for handmade wool persian rugs? or is this only safe to do for machine made, non-natural fibre rugs?
Man Thanks! best video
Thank you
What do you use to keep the rug in place
Where would you suggest to clean? It looks like you have a special room to do this in. I don’t think I would want to do this inside on hard wood floors.
I’ve personally used a large blue tarp from Harbor Freight. They’re pretty cheap and protect the rug and the surface you’re cleaning on if you’re cleaning indoors. Although, I’ve just done it out in the driveway 👍🏾.
@@laurencollins8407 thanks! It didn’t even cross my mind to buy a tarp! 🤦🏻♀️
My kid’s trampoline was devine for rugs!
Driveway
Outside on top of a plastic tarp maybe? Vacuum inside of course.
Can I do this on a garage drive way on cement
Thank you!!!
I use a similar bristle brush like that 😊 2:30
Love this
Another great vid! If I had to use a spotter instead of a bigger machine like the one you used, what features should I make sure it has? Does the brand make a huge difference? Or are all spotters pretty much created equal?
I'm glad you enjoyed it Adam! For anything carpet cleaning related I always will believe anything Hoover will reign supreme😁
Does it make a difference in cleaning whether it's synthetic or natural rug
Now I’m curious how to do a wool rug at home because I have one and my wife wants to get it cleaned
In most cases I would suggest to call a pro for a wool rug.
that carpet cleaning machine counts as professional equipment to me. who can have smth like that in a studio?
Random question, but are the shoes you’re wearing in this video Vessi’s?
I attempted cleaning my rug before watching your vid, and had a hell of a time getting it dry again. Did you flip the rug over to dry the bottom at well?
What kind of rug squeegee is that? Where did you get it?
Ohh great 👍
Can you make one using really common equipment only? I don't have a carpet cleaner
take it to a DIY car wash
I think I need this guy come clean my house - that would be really good! 😂
Thanks! 🤟
This was great, I need to clean my area rug. Quick question on a different topic, I used Pink Stuff on my bathroom sink and it took the finish off. Someone suggested using a gel gloss?
Hmm I don’t have a ton of experience with refinishing stuff like that unfortunately… sorry!
My question is - where did Nate get that rug? I’m looking for a green rug just like that one! Thanks
I once hired a professional carpet cleaner and this is the same equipment they used
Hello! I was wondering if my rug is really dirty should I also shampoo the back side? Thank you
Yes! Start on the back then do the top.
I see you only sprayed down the soap once. Would you ever do more passes of the soap between water washes with the machine? If im doing multiple passes
I live in an apartment and was considering doing this on the carpet of one of the bedroom. Not sure if this is a bad idea because I don’t want to ruin the carpet of the bedroom. However my frame of mind is if the carpet gets dirty I can just clean it afterwards. Am I wrong?
Nice 🙂
Thanks for the visit
Any idea of the difference between the Zep Area Rug cleaner and the Premium Carpet Shampoo? The Area Rug stuff isn't available anywhere near me, but I can get the premium carpet shampoo - would it perform similarly to what you do?
I’m not 100% sure but both will work great for synthetic rugs
My area rug is indoor do i put down LARGE PLASTIC UNDERNEATH SUE TO THE WATER SPRAYED ON RUG
If you can that would be great!
Is this only for synthetic rugs? Or can I use this method for wool and wool with silk in it?
This is for synthetic rugs. 🙂
What about wool rugs?
Where do you get that black tray that you had the carpet in? I'd like to soak mine to remove dog urine.
That is a pond liner from Lowes think…. You can get them at most big box home improvement stores.
How much time did it take you to do it ?
HELP!!! My vacuum gets suctioned to the carpet. How do I prevent that?
When extracting with the carpet cleaner, do you extract in the same forward/backward motion as you showed when needing to use multiple tanks of warm clean water? Or, do you work in a 360 motion like you did while vacuuming to ensure the cleaner is properly removed from the fibers? Does that even matter?
Good question! I will do the 360 pattern while rinsing if it’s really dirty and I want to make sure to thoroughly rinse. 🙂
Now what if I have to do all of this outside on my patio?
Could you dry in the Sun outside or is that a bad idea
How frequently a rug should be cleaned?
Can you or should you clean a rug ontop of carpet?
A. So you need to buy all the equipment you showed?
B. Is it dangerous if your pet 🐈 walks on the rug while it's being pre cleaned? (He's the one sho brought the dirt). Isn't it cheaper to buy another rug?
I didn't understand why you don't recommend mixing the soap inside the hoover tank
Do you clean carpets the same way? Pre treat with spray then use the machine with only water?
Correct!
@@CleanThatUp I'm going to try this one day!
Where would you do this?
👍🏻
I'm looking at this because I have two rugs I need to clean. This is great information but your rug is not hand-made. Would you recommend this cleaning for hand-made wool rugs? Probably not right?
Correct! I would look for a local professional rug washer if possible 🙂
@@CleanThatUp Thank you!
How is a carpet cleaner not professional equipment??
He also said use a squeegee if no carpet cleaner
Hey there! I wanted to use a carpet machine that wasn't a professional level system, but a cheaper entry level machine you can pick up for just over a $100 for your home😁
My question is.. what about the backside? I currently did mine and my entire house smells like mold and just :/
How you gonna clean a rug and step on it with your shoes are you ok
Does this work with a shaggy rug? I have one that smells like pee and dirt I got for free I'm trying to clean
I have none of equipment....
A little confusing to me at one point, because it looked as if you were adding water to the soap liquid, but you didn't say whether you were or not. Thanks.
What about pet hair?
Maybe going to the car wash?
I didn’t realize Aaron Judge had a little brother
could i let it dry outside?
Yes that can work it just depends on the temperature. If it’s a mild day with little humidity and a nice breeze it will dry up great. I wouldn’t suggest drying outside if it’s super hot and humid.
This rug already looks clean 😐
That rug isn’t dirty…
-Friend you didn't do any heavy working. You used a vacuum and a pump to spray on the carpet. Instead of showing us how to clean it at home with a hose, soap, and a rug cleaner liquid.
Does anyone else actually think that rug wasn't actually dirty?
There was little or no difference between before and after!
thats professional equipment
Bro had a shrapnal turd splattered in the toilet bowl 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Look closer... its a fly. It helps with aim 😂
No professional equipment 😂😂
All items can be purchased at Walmart or at a local big box store.
00:58 - red flag. You're using stuff that most of us at home do not have.
No equipment but go buy a carpet cleaning vacuum 🤣
No Professional Equipment;....
Says no equipment needed, and uses 3 equipment in first 3 mins. 😢
Lol. No professional equipment is used in this video, neither is a special room for cleaning.
Too complicated for me, sorry. I'll just buy a new rug every 6 months. 😅
You could just hire a pro rug cleaner too, that might be cheaper than buying the new rug
Thank you for adding needlessly to the landfill
Im gonna clean this without any professional equipment!! *uses hoover power dash plus*
“No professional equipment” - carpet cleaning machine.
Thank you
Thanks for watching🙂
"No professional equipment." Bro you use many equipments that people cant easily buy 🤔😅
All products are available at Walmart or Amazon. 🙂
@@CleanThatUp with money yeah
@@LETSG-1000 I have been cleaning rugs professionally and DIY for my entire life and will always come with a cost. You can also look into renting a machine for a more cost effective approach.
