Ramadan Fasting in Padang, West Sumatra Indonesia (non-muslim experience)

- In today's episode I try fasting 3 days for Ramadan here in Padang, West Sumatra, as I wanted to learn more about Ramadan from the Indonesian local perspective. So while staying at Hotel Premiere here in Padang, I visited Masjid Al Hakim, Masjid Raya the biggest mosque in West Sumatra and I went for Buka Puasa with a local family here in Padang.
It was an absolutely incredible experience, and I'm so happy to be able to share it with you all here on CZcams.

We are in Algiers🇩🇿. We start fasting from 4:35 until 19:25. It is a long time, but we are used to this. Praise be to God for the blessing of Islam.

Sekadar informasi penjelasan menit 10:08 di Padang, anak-anak SD-SMP memang tidak pergi ke sekolah tetapi sekolah dipindahkan ke masjid-masjid dekat rumah mereka masing-masing. Jadi setiap subuh (SMP) sampai jam 9, lalu dari jam 9-zuhur (SD) mereka bersekolah di masjid, memperdalam ilmu agama Islam.

Di Bukittinggi SUMBAR juga, dimulai dari jam 7.30-8, selesai jam 10-11 an pokoknya sebelum zuhur untuk sd smp krn biasanya diadakan di masjid dekat rumah
Sma agak beda, biasa agak lebih lama, bisa sampe zuhur kalau kegiatan diadakan di aula sekolah

When Ramadhan (especially in padang) they are not study at school, but in mosque near their house. It called "pesantren ramadhan", around 3 week. They will study more about Islam, like read quran, muamalah, fiqh, etc.
At the end of scheduled, they are get an examination and the result will be listed on their school raport..

what i love the most about ramadhan is that we become more grateful of food and drink we have at home. i remember that one time when we had garlic bread for iftar and it tastes so delicious that we cry together while eating. it made us respect the food more and realize how nice it is to share food with others. much love :)

Belum pernah ke Padang. Banyak yang bilang, pemandangannya bagus. Kulinernya memang enak.
Kl ke padang/sumbar harus berdua, biar ada yg photoin (gantian), mgkn bs ajak isteri/atau teman/atau saudara dll... spot photo di sumbar mmg banyak yg bagus, tinggal pilih sesuau selera dan budget.. pemandangan nya bagus2/gunung2, danau2 dll.. (Bukit Tinggi kota utama wisata di Sumbar)

17:00 I just want to make it clear. For moslems, breakfasting is after maghrib, if you eat or drink before maghrib it considered that you are fail fasting the whole day. For the man you were asked about it and said that you can eat/drink before maghrib, I think he assumed you as a non moslem.

Adzan Maghrib -> Break the fasting with Hot Tea -> Fruit Soup (Sop / Es Buah) -> fritters (Gorengan, Bakwan dll) -> Eat Dinner -> Forgot to pray(sholat) :v
I think what happened here is that some people ate before the Maghrib azan is given, even though Maghrib time has passed a bit. Muadzin need to break their fast first and that may took a bit of time.. 😊
