It crazy that Fender does not re-issue these amps. Bloody gorgeous tone. It’s the only amp you will ever need if you can find one. The people who own one won’t sell.

I had Marsh Amps in Florida build me a Vibrolux clone some 10-12 years ago. The tone is really, really close to the amp here but I opted for different speakers so there are differences. Mike was offering these really well-built copies with as many original type components (caps, resisters, etc.) including the exact grill cloth and faceplate. I still have it. I ran me about $1650. Mike Marsh still builds these copies but under a different name. He might still build one that looks totally original, like mine, if the customer wants that but you'd have to call and ask. No idea what he would charge today for such a really cool copy. I'd guess $2K +/- .👍👍

Vibrolux is my fave amp ever. Years ago, I knew a guy that had a '73 all stock...sounded amazing. He offered to trade me for my Mesa MKIV combo. I agreed. He brought the amp over to my house. I tried it out and loved it. He then told me he wasn't trading because he didn't know it could "sound like that".

Is tone worth chasing, yes. Is an amp with that tone worth current prices? That’s the questionable part. I have a 1966 Princeton Amp with that glorious tone, but I got the amp for free in the late 90s when people were practically giving away vintage tube amps because they didn’t deem their tone that valuable; *the very same amps* that people are now demanding big dollars for… so are those amps worth next to nothing or worth big $$$? As far as I’m concerned people who saw a chance to make money from buying and flipping amps after the 90s destroyed any real conception of what “value” is. In the 90s I would have thought nothing of letting my Princeton go because I could walk into my local stores at any time and pick up something to replace it (there were constantly things like Bassman heads for sale for $350). Nowadays I would NEVER let that Princeton go, because I know I would not be able to afford a replacement at todays prices.
