I sent this to my bf recently and he didn’t really appreciate this song, seeing it as just another K-POP song until I explained how much this means to me. This melancholic, bittersweet tune really touches me. This is what I said of why On the Ground means so much to me according to my interpretation:
It is the perspective of a girl who is working so hard and trying to reach heights. However, she keep missing her love (gender neutral, love that), knowing that her love is the only one that can keep her from floating away. Constantly working hard and chasing after success can sometimes make you forget to live in the present. To be on the ground “grounded” is to mean having a strong connection with who you really are.
Made a lot of sense to me now that my partner and I will be at different ends of the world to pursue our ambitions....
