Ustad Ameer Ali Khan’s family hailed from Kapurthala in East Punjab and migrated to Lahore and then to Deepalpur after 1947. Born in Pakistan, Ameer Ali Khan’s father Ustaad Rafeeq Ali Khan was a student of the great Ustaad Fateh Ali Khan and Ameer Ali Khan of his son, the legendary Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.There is a unique musicality to Ameer Khan’s style of recitation, matched by the complex, vocal expressions of his accompanists.

@Awatansh Tripathi While Ameer Ali Khan is certainly an admirer of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan he was not taught by him. Some of the body language is also similar to NFAK but that too is quite common among qawwals. Both Rafiq sb, his father, and Ameer Ali Khan demonstrate a softer style based more on sur and less on power and intensity of emotions.

سر الفاظ میں آپکی خدمات کو سراہنا ممکن نہیں۔ اور نہ کوئی ایوارڈ اس کا حق ادا کر سکتا ہے۔ اس دور میں جب کلاسیکل موسیقی بالخصوص قوالی زوال پذیر تھی آپ کی یہ کاوش اندھیرے میں چراغ جلانے کے مترادف ہے۔ کمال است کمال است۔

Excellent rendition, however I would like to congratulate the person responsible for translation, the translations are so apt and extremely useful for us non Urdu speakers when confronted with difficult words.
Dr. Saab this is the one of great losses partition inflicted upon us, urdu for sure was our mutual heritage,and what pity we broke away from our roots, from Lahore with love.
if you are a real doctor then you should recognize the signs of a heart attack. Ustad ji suffers a heart attack during this performance and it's easily identifiable by the constant profuse sweat emanating from his face. Sadly nobody recognized these clear signs. Had I been there I would have immediately rushed him to a hospital. You are not a real doctor sir.
One of the best intiative by anyone to bring forth the charisma of quawalli and ghazals. You deserve a national Salam from both India and Pakistan. Would like to initiate a joint festival of quawalli and ghazals with all the great singers portrayed by dream team in India or Dubai.

One of my all time favorites. Can't believe he's no longer with us. This music will live on through his voice and nazakat! He had such a charm and twinkle in his eye, almost like a naughty kid trying to have fun except he made us all go through spiritual journeys through his voice

A most enjoyable rendition of Jigar Moradabadi's immortal poetry! Ustad Ameer Ali Khan Qawal's style would bring memories back to everyone who grew up in India / Pakistan. I was immediately transported in my mind to the streets and locales of my younger years, and I have not even been to India in two decades! Memories of sweethearts from my youth, of shy romances in the strict culture of those times - a lot of wonderful thoughts came flooding in! Shukriya, Ustad Sahib! Aap hamesha gaate rahein!

There are many today and some others would continue the tradition of Qwwali but few will achieve the finesse of Ustad Amir Khan to enliven the poetry with his style of his singing immersed in the soul and thought of music . RIP Ustad! You have left this world but not the hearts and minds of your admirers across the globe.
Sad to hear about his demise 😞. A gem of an artist. This piece by him especially has a special place in my heart.

its beautiful. loved shafiq ahmed taan around 2:04 instant goosebumps.. khan sahab ny kamal kar dia . i loved the original version a lot but here khan sahab ny to kamal hi kar dia there is a sweetness which i guess come with age.. kia khoobsorat andaz hai aur baqol asif hasnain sahab ky " kia tarash ho rahi hai " and how evident is that this is labour of love by dream journey because that happiness can also be seen in artist.. i haven't seen many enjoying singing themselves besides listeners. mehfil ho to dream journey ki ho

I've recently come by the Dream Journey by chance, and how grateful I am for this accident! Video by video I am discovering unforgettable compositions, and unforgettable groups. This one too is amazing, both the composition, including the music and the words, and Ustaad Ameer Ali Khan's troupe (which, I have also discovered thanks to CZcams, used to be called Ameer Rafiq Murqiyan Waale Qawwal, in the Ustad's younger days).
While the entire composition is one pleasure-filled experience, I find myself often repeatedly rewinding to the very beginning, to hear the "O teer-e-nazar meri taraf chhoDne waale" parts again and again. Does any who reads this by any chance know who wrote the words, and if there is another recording of just these verses in the same raag, perhaps by the Ustad or someone else? If so, is be delighted to find it.
