- JFRD responded to a midday fire to an apartment. Upon arrival, heavy smoke was visible from the top floor of a two story apartment building. The fire was deep seated into the attic space, with no firewalls in the attic space, command was forced to pull all crews out of this building to go defensive on this fire. At that time, a 2nd alarm was called for additional crews.
Defensively, an aggressive stop was just not possible as the fire ran the entire attic space, therefore burning the entire roof off this large apartment building.
All residents were evacuated out of this structure safely.
The cause of the fire was turned over to the Bureau of Fire Arson and Explosives Investigations.
Sit back and watch this RAW footage as firefighters battle this blaze.

And thanks for watching...
Thanks for the informative video. The importance of needing a firewall. Excellent work. Many hot spots. Please be safe.
thank you! lot's to be learned
Certainly hope everyone made it outbof the building safely. Good work jfrd
There were no injuries.
Great work by the men and women of JFRD!!!!
Keep watching!
Awesome job the men & women did to contain this apartment fire. Good job to #TheJFRD
Thank you!
Your welcome
keep watching@@Samuel_Wolfe
Oh my. Terrible for the residents. Glad you managed to ensure it didn't spread to other buildings.
That is a big concern from us as well.
That is whats wrong here. The codes should have to require firewalls --- Debbie
When was the building built? What was the code when it was built?
Know the answers before you go off.
I just love your videos. I can hear the fire burning.
I work hard on them.
You guys have had a tuff time lately, hang in there & Stay Safe!
it is what we do.
I know we discussed your Bldg code a few weeks ago, but this fire and the disaster last week in downtown are again clear examples of why JFD needs to fight for a better code. NO MASONRY FIRE WALLS have led to the destruction of How many apts and the loss of 2 large buildings. Luckily No one was injured or killed.
What you aren't considering is "when were these buildings built?" If they are built before codes come into effect, they don't have to go back and bring to code...it is too much to ask. These are older buildings
I understand that fact, as we went through it in NY. What you guys need to do is stop the madness like the debacle last week. That was a brand new build. Another option@@thejfrd2490
Reply part 2, have the Bldgs retrofitted for sprinklers in the cocklofts. Water lines are already there, just need to tap into them. I see these fire videos all over US.@@thejfrd2490
good job. and that is why i will never live in a big apartment!!!! 😮😮
understood
I remember when I lived in Arlington in 99, the apartments I lived in caught fire due to some nut with a lit cigar and he fell asleep on the couch with it! He was evicted the next day, back then Red Cross didn't help you like they do now. Some people had no place to go, luckily we had friends in Ponte Vedra Beach.
Sorry to hear that...glad things are progressing now though with the help these people get.
Would like to see you include the date, time & location of the fire/incident in your posts. Otherwise, great video!
Not really sure the relevance of date time and location....
Was there any firewalls?
not in the attic no
Good afternoon. Tell me, I want to find a video that is filmed from a helicopter through a thermal imager. A fire in the attic of a large house. In my opinion, both the firefighters and the jets of extinguishing water are clearly visible there
good luck with that

@4:23 that window screen is moving. The ceiling and roof is already burned through. Surely that's not someone at that window. (?) Maybe it's a broken tree branch swinging.
No one inside…we were defensive already
Is it common for JFRD to use the ladder pipe in rescue mode when using it was a water source?
not common, but it happens occasionally.
so how many aparments were effected
How many answers did you get? Dumb question
I don't remember exactly, but I would say in the neighborhood of around a dozen.
@leightongalleries6057 That's not very nice...why is that a "dumb question"? Can't we try to be a bit kinder?
Thank you. Living in the UK our housing is very different hence the question.@@thejfrd2490
"The fire was deep seated into the attic space, with no firewalls in the attic space, ..."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess adequate firewalls are a thing of the past, as builders refuse to spend the money on them. Cost-saving like that means bigger profits for the builders. And city/state governments don't care, as politicians get big campaign contributions from the builders. What a racket.
Uh...who writes the codes? Hmmm?
@@RLTtizME politicians collude with builders to write the codes. I thought that was obvious.
@@kenthompson5723 Cite a specific example including City where that occurred.
@@RLTtizME ha ha. You think that politicians and builders would be that honest or transparent?
@@kenthompson5723 Cote examples and specific details. You can’t can you. Keep trying to justify your wildass bilge.
You going to do a video on the Doro building fire?
you bet I am! You going to watch??
100% Every time you post. Just got some video of some guys on St. John's Bluff trying to put out a car fire with a fire extinguisher when the car was already completely engulfed. I don't think people realize how it's not safe. JFRD had it out in less than five minutes. @@thejfrd2490
Soon as it's posted
@@thejfrd2490 of course I am!

Dam tinderbox🤨. Good job guys
Tough situation...but thanks.
Tough fire to stop with a truss roof maybe trench cut the roof ahead or the fire
That is not feasible on a building this size, trench cut is for a much larger building and not done on peaked roofs.
