Dear Georgina, Croatian tune is for the fact very serious and tells a story about young people who have to move from their home towns and villages abroad because of job and money. "Sell a cow" is a metaphore for selling everything someone owns and then leaving parents, his beloved cat and people he knows. It's very sad and deserves respect.

Croatian here living in Iceland reporting for duty. Had to leave 5 years ago. Antidepressants get me through. It's been a rollecoaster but at least I can afford to live 😂 Iceland cares about humans. In Croatia my salary was pathetic and I didn't fit in. Icelanders are more introverted so I like it. I just hate that I had to leave my mom and family 😢

Love your honest reaction, only to add that croatian Rim Tig Tagi Dim lyrics are not mental. Selling a cow is a serious thing, many people forgot that domestic animals are really valued a lot because if you have them for your personal consumption, they cost alot and prolly they are the only thing that you can sell so that you have little money to settle for a month in some foreign country while looking for a job. This song tells the story of many immigrants who move away for better opportunities. Its a sad song special when you actually LOVE your country, every inch of it but you gotta leave because there is no future for you. There is so much raw emotion behind his seemingly simple lyrics. He is great songwritter in his own simplicity, no fancy words, just down to earth true stories. "Just dance" is part where he dont wanna think (anxiety attacks), he dont wanna tears, letters, because that will break him down. Meow cat please meow back have a deeper meaning as well. Anyway he sold his cow and there is no going back...

Something I liked from your coverage this year is you being clearer about the focus on rating songs based on their vocals above all else. Once I kept that perspective, your reviews were more undersandable. And as a result, it seems to align far better with the jury voting than the televote. So I've gained a new appreciation for your content going forward in future Eurovisions. Cheers!

I enjoyed Spain. I just love the instrumental and the melody but yes at the beginning it sounds like chained to the rhythm. I also loved Norway and was sad for them that they barely got any points. It was just such an epic melody and so unique. I also loved Austria but she wasn't unique enough but I really love the music during the dance break at the end which had a camera freeze during the finale live performance. People complain that this lead to less votes. Btw the song by luxembourg called fighter also has a small part (watch the final performance 1:04 to 1:08 to hear it) that sounds like the pre-chorus of another song. Listen to "something about us" by no angels. Do you all think this was stolen or just by accident similar like in the Spain song?

regarding Spain's review: The issue arises each year... "How come this isn't in English, so that I can understand it? - The issue is people watching on their national broadcaster should be getting the information about at least part of the lyrics so that the message gets across better. Spain was amazing, it is an icon, she will be at every EuroParty whilst , not very many acts gets to become a fan favorite. Regardless of their position.

The booing and cheering thing is something some other UK shows like x-factor do quite a lot and I think it shouldn't be allowed . the Netherlands thing quickly summarised is that Joost did something , nothing serious , he offered to apologise to avoid controversy but the EBU refused and gave him a punishment that was disproportionately large compared to what should have been done , hence the boing when martin came on

And then the EBU goes and does a ham handed, "i need my safe space!" move and ejects Joost for practically NOTHING.....and now gets rightfully booed as well. Sigh. Nice while it lasted.

According to AVROTROS, the Dutch broadcaster in charge of the Dutch Eurovision delegation: There were clear agreements that Joost Klein was not to be filmed upon his exit from the stage, after his performance. On Thursday evening, during the second semi-finals, Joost was filmed leaving the stage. He asked the cameraperson to stop, she refused, he asked again, she continued filming, and at that point, he made a 'threatening gesture' towards the camera. In subsequent negotiations, the woman in question was unwilling to come to the table, and the EBU suspended Joost as a result.
It was a very shameful incident and I hope there will be consequences for the EBU. This was also the reason that Kaarija was no longer delivering the points of the Finnish jury, and why Nikkie de Jager, or indeed, anyone, showed up to hand out the Dutch jury's points.

The Danish commentator mentioned it quickly at some point of the show - cancelling it because of a turbulent year won’t make sense, as there’s so much in the music industry depending on it or something like that. There’s also already what 6(?) confirmed countries other than Switzerland in 2025.
But hopefully the EBU will listen to the criticism (including the very politely put criticism Nemo came with during the winner’s press conference), and make some changes to ensure a better atmosphere surrounding it.

Honestly, respect to the artists who went through that chaos, because it must have added an extra layer of stress during the entire thing

Now that is unfair to say things you said about Estonia. These are rappers, obviously there won't be any vocals what so ever. The song itself was for the vibes. Instead of saying, this isn't your type of song, you kept shaming and discrediting them.. Crowd did like the song, they even were seen to dance and chare for them. This wasn't our best year, compared to last year, but this also shows how so many great songs there were this year from many artists. This is what did get me angry, the unfairness. Great video though :)

I'm glad you said something - I was reading everyone else's comments and forgot I wanted to say something about this. It was definitely a case of just a kind of song Georgina doesn't have a lot of experience with. Its not my usual cup of tea either, but it was upbeat and I thought the vocals were strong.

Thanks for all your reactions throughout Eurovision 2024.
I don't know if it was me but when you mentioned about any booing (apart from EBU's Martin Österdahl which came over clearly) to me the reaction/response after each song sounded a bit muted/ muffled. Despite all the drama, all 25 participants, presenters etc got through it and I guess now it's time to pack away those thongs, basques, fish nets, skin tone pants, coned outfits, cat suits, cod pieces and boxing shorts and close the door on 2024. As we are off to Switzerland for 2025. I liked Italy but agree with you, when the singer was on her own had more 'attitude in her performance'. I loved Portugal and Georgia. Lovely to see Dame Joanna Lumley and Petra Mede in that brief exchange over the UK's jury points. Now wouldn't they be a fun combination for presenting 'Patsy and Petra' 😃😃

    • @evee_peavey
      @evee_peavey Před 29 dny

Part of the boo-ing are also due to what the EBU did to the Netherlands. They were on spot 5 and after us was Israel who got the brunt of the booo's meant for the EBU . Same with Martin.. the dutch spokesperson refused to present, and then the broadcaster refused as well, which meant Martin had to present the points for NL

Wow... you giving rappers (Estonia) 1 out of 5 vocally only because they don't sing?
Then you give Greece 3 out of 5 for a person that had to perform with Pharyngitis and was vocally still better then Austria, Lithuania or Spain the same points as Austria?
BTW: the not having the mic into position in the case of Greece was only in the semi final.
Which means you either didn't watch the grand final performance at all OR you just added this in your score just so you can give it a worse one.
Also giving Ireland the max points even she was screeching half of the song instead of singing only because the transition is "Difficult" to do?
    Hilarious! 😅
Then critisizing Cyprus everytime because of the la la but ignoring the constant Rim tim dagi dim (Croatia) or We ram-di-dam-dam-dam (Austria).
It's ok if you don't like something but adding unfairly your likes/dislikes into the points instead of focusing on the vocals has nothing to do with honesty but rather with you giving a biased score.
Very sad to say the least!

Yeah the ‘Netherlands’ incident’ is just insanity, the more news that’s coming the crazier it gets. The ebu made it out like he harassed someone physically or verbally at the least but neither happened. Joost had an agreement, his wishes were not respected, so he lashed out with a ‘threatening gesture’ nothing physical mind you, and he got disqualified because the women ‘felt unsafe’ i’m sorry but that is crazy
