    I went and am currently going to an alternative school. They definitely operate differently than your traditional public schools. The best is bare minimum at an alternative school. D's are considered A's. There is no "smart." I remember when one of my peers called me smart and the teacher got upset with them for using the word smart and told them to never use smart again. It's super weird how achievements are not recognized at alternative schools. Everyone is simply given a participation award in an effort to equalize everyone.

    In public school all students are equal. Students that do bad choose to do bad. Even if a kid is smart, they're being taught at the same pace. So really, everyone is at the same starting line...
