    Unusually I listened to the whole of this one today. TBF to this witness, apart from Lord Arbuthnot and Mr Bates, he's the only one who has consistently given straight answers. Never resorted to 'i can't recall'. ,or I can't help you. Gave a lot of details. Some previous witnesses may be in problems because of what this man said today, people like Roderick, jarnail, and John Scott. Sir Wyn went out of his way to give this man a verbal accolade for his testimony, so that must tell you something.

      He is one of the few half believable ones but is still guilty of watering down info.

    Although Simon Clark’s conduct while working with the Post Office has fallen short in key areas he does at least answer the questions of the inquiry which was rather refreshing after the previous witnesses.

    Others have already summed up Clarke's contributions both in the inquiry and in endeavouring to address the atrocious PO behaviour at the time, so I won't repeat.
    However, it is concerning that a small number of commenters in today's threads of conversation can't or won't see the difference between this witness and the likes of Singh or Williams. Is this what is meant by "trolling"?

  • @jasonnolan394
    @jasonnolan394 Před 10 dny +6

    What an enormous difference between someone such as this speaking contemporaneously about events from a decade or more ago, and others such as Singh who vehemently denies all knowledge of emails even when shown to him in black and white with his own name and server file address on it! Even though we often can’t remember details from years ago, being presented with emails and documents ought to help take one back to the moment and recall that which has been forgotten. Besides…. this scandal has gone on long enough that those involved have had plenty of time to reflect on their own actions.

    Williams and Singh are in this up to their neck. Williams name keeps coming up day after day. I've watched days of this, and Williams came across as very shifty and full of shite basically. Jailtime needed here!!

    Simon Clarke was an excellent witness today. The first one I have watched in full, even with his council they couldn’t get it right.

    • @paulread8887

      Very shifty, wouldn't trust him with anything

    • @669karlos
      @669karlos Před 10 dny +3

      @@paulread8887 he’s sole inconsistency was on the disclosure of the misra case, he immediately owned up to it. He stopped all prosecutions in his jurisdiction, trashed their expert witness, wrote a prosecutions policy for the post office which basically took the ability for the post office to prosecute away from them. He also informed Scotland. I’d trust him, there was nothing about his evidence that was shifty, he conducted himself excellently and the whole room knew it.

    • @paulread8887
      @paulread8887 Před 9 dny +1

      It's just a real shame that like many others no one reported Gareth Jenkins which left someone being prosecuted when it could have been stopped.
      No good saying sorry when about disclosure afterwards when it should have been highlighted at the time..... instead of turning a blind eye..... many thought that no one would ever find out.....I have no time for non of them.... they all knew and now it's a case of either blaming someone else or pretending that they can't remember or making some kind of pathetic comment of sorry.
      The only reason they are saying sorry is because they have all been found out....

      It’s curious that Clarke deigns to take offence at the inference that reaching ‘an untenable conclusion’ was intentional when he has already admitted that he had made that particular mistake….or did i miss something? Seems the future trials will come down to prosecution proving intent rather than pure negligence.

    Mr Clarke kept on referring to focusing on looking forward and yet spent an inordinate amount of time trying to track down who told Second Sight about the two bugs in past. Claimed he wasn’t suspicious of Gareth Jenkins yet recorded his telephone call without warning him. Is the reason he didn’t meet him in-person because they wanted a recording to use to protect themselves when they wanted a fall guy.
