Tampa leaders hosting collaborative effort to combat gun violence

Tampa city leaders hope Wednesday's town hall meeting at the Jewish Community Center between North Howard Avenue and North Armenia Avenue will bring some better ideas to combat gun violence when it's done in collaboration with the community.

In today's society we do not hold parents accountable.. where are the parents of a 14 year old child at 3:00 in the morning. When you start holding the parents accountable.. you'll see crime go down. We need to pass a parent's accountability act.

I work in peoria, and its like little iraq in the south end. Every night, at least 3 shootings, and its ALWAYS the same people.

Bars closing at 2 am won’t improve jack. The shootings are escalating. Just within a month From SOHO to Amateur Works
to Downtown Tampa.
Not to mention Ybor City that has been an ongoing safety problem for years.
We need change:
Stop permitless carry.
Stop stigmatizing mental health.
Order Universal background checks.
Require licensing and registration.
Promote safe gun and ammunition storage.
Hold “criminals” accountable.
Prevent repeat offenders.
Enough is enough.
What we don’t need is a
Mayor that consistently talks about “historic Ybor City being a safe community” clearly it’s not.
Nor do we need a SA saying “you will be held accountable” yet doesn’t hold them accountable” releases them on the street with priors / rap sheets.
Wake up the gun violence is escalating. No one is doing anything to stop it. It starts at home. The parents of these kids and young adults need to be a parent half if not majority of these criminals have zero guidance missing fathers at home and no authority or positive role models.
