“ it ain’t checkers it chess “. Real talk Coach! Lol it’s a gift and a curse cuz I showed some of my guys this, and they applied it in sparring. Sad to say there were some bruised arms and thumb joint for a bit. Works really well on the undisciplined fighter. Coach how about one off the same arm. i.e block right hook to the body without the tilt to the right, tilt slightly to the left drop the elbow into the hook, return with a left shovel punch to the body and a short right to the head. I’ve noticed you get that added “attack your opponent’s balance” off of this. Deflection or redirection brings them a little closer.

    Hi
For the left body hook.. Can you pivot on left foot? Like you would for a left hook to the head.
    Or it is not necessary?
Are you just bringing your left shoulder back to generate power? I was wondering if both are correct. Since I have seen both ways taught.
    Thank you!

clinch often, exhaust him by doing long guard and constant evasion.
      Thats what Shane Fazen said.

The Klitschko-Joshua match showed a. how very vulnerable an experienced opponent can be (who knows how to clinch), and b. how the 10 count can save your career and reputation (one up on MMA). Honestly don’t be afraid to go down and start your own offence like how Klitschko did in the latter stages of the 5th round and 6th round of his bout with AJ.

I am sorry no reality fighter is throwing hooks to the body at chest level. I guess where you are from matters. I am from a popular city and never seen such a hook. The whole idea of me throwing a hook to YOUR body IS TO HIT BELOW YOUR DAMNED ELBOW. That is my hook to the body would be parallel and close to your HIP. If we are professional then this is the equator line where a boxer can’t hit below the belt. The closer to that illegal line is where the experienced fighter will throw a body hook. The hook is so low but legal at the same time. This raise elbow will get you crushed. This is okay for a beginner but a street fighter will kill you doing this raised elbow crap. You must defend close to your hip bone because that is where most experienced fighters will aim for as that is harder to block. You need to address the area below the elbow. The punch will rival a hook and kidney punch if you turn too much as a defender trying to get away from it. You trying to be slick and angle will get You will get hit on your lower back / kidney area which still hurts like hell. Raising the elbow like this makes it easier now.
