+Andrew Hamilton If they don't like it F 'em.....Never did ..Never will be happy. Sly and Family Stone besides great social Commentary, songs and concerts got feet moving. I do not see anybody NOT dancing... Great feat for any band.
I myself have always been a huge fan of this phenomenal band, Sly & The Family Stone. I can remember listening to the album "Stand" at the age of 7 or 8 years old. I would listen to it over and over again. This concert is off the hook and i am not watching the video, just listening and they still sound dynamic!!!!!
Stand was fantastic. One of the first real music records I heard, I was probably 7 or 8 too. I learned to play bass with that record, and a couple others. But Stand was always a favorite.
for a black men up in his 83 year he list none I pay to see him daddy or u make daddy pay our way in to the show u know I will my life time wife yes iam she daddy
MISS YOU BIG TIME CYNTHIA ROBINSON!! You were such a inspiration to all us wannabe funk players back in the 70s and such a friendly and FUNKY Lady. I am not worthy!!! Watching the Family perform was so wow for all of us....still is. WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU SWEETIE!!
Yes Jerry Martini on Sax and Gregg Ericco on Drums were 2 White members in Sly's band both were Italian-American and they kicked ass. I love it when bands are intergrated. Need I mention The Jimi Hendrix Experience----I had the honour of meeting both Billy Cox [Bassist] and Mitch Mitchell [Drummer] at the JIMI HENDRIX TRIBUTE TOUR in 2008 in NYC...We lost Mitch [RIP] the following month but Billy and I ocassionally chat on Face Book
I got to watch this exact concert a few weekends ago in Seattle @ Jazz Alley! I took my wife an a 19yr old daughter. All of us were out of our seats dancing it was an amazing concert! No Auto tune, no lip sync 100% original. If you have the chance to see it please don't miss the opportunity!
Saw the family stone at the jazz cafe with cynthia, jerry and greg in June 2012 in London. Best gig I have ever been to, and I've been to a few (I'm 39 so missed them in their heyday). They rocked and funked out just as good as they did back in the day-was an absolute privilege to be there-still get hairs standing up on the back of my neck remembering it they were so damn good.
Dont Hate the black Dont Hate the White If you get bit just hate the bite make sure your heart is beating Right-------ARE YOU READY? -----SLY STONE [[aka Sylvester Stewart]]
When you want to tackle a sound and a group like Sly and the Family stone one of the greatest bands EVER. You had better be good! This group captured the pure essence of the Sly and the Family Stone. This concert was like me watching the original in Philly in '73. GREAT WORK!!
This s a great sounding rendition of the Family Stone. I'm so glad that some of the original members of the group brought the music back!!! And the lead singer even looks like Sly.
Sly Stone is not dead. He's signed to my buddy's record company Cleopatra Records. He broke his neck a few years ago, and the injury keeps him from performing. He just settled the lawsuit against his ex-manager for $5M.
They are awesome original musicians, nobody like Sly. his music put you in a groove you hadn't been in before and Sly's voice on Family Affair I was young but I knew if I were older he'd have had power over me.
Saw this band at Ag Hall Allentown PA in 1969.. Sly showed at 10:30 for the 9PM show.....but the wait was as worth it as Sly was high!!!! I was just 16 on my junior dirver's license but there was no way I was gonna make the 11PM curfew! That was one of the jamminest moments of my life. Sly and the Family Stone rocked the sox of that place!!!!
What happend to her? Did she pass from natural causes or something else? What was her age? Is the rest ohis band playing anywhere in The New York/New Jersey area?
This is an absolute pleasure to watch. Sly hasn't looked this good in a very long time. The energy is back. There is only one Sly Stone and there will NEVER be another. :-)
Thanks for sharing this! I got to see them live a year or two ago in Petaluma, CA, and when I hear their music now, I still get a bit of a rush remembering how much pure *fun* it was. I feel sorry for my generation (late 70s/early 80s) as so few of us will get to experience that even once, let alone repeatedly like our parents did.
SLY ...dont know if you even look at these but we could use a whole lot of you right now. You sir are the funkiest man on the planet..always was and always will be... and can not forget James Brown ....wow what a combo in that last song...it felt gooooooooooooood
Thursday, Dec 6, 2012 8:00p The RRazz Room San Francisco, CA Featuring the original founding members of Sly & The Family Stone: Jerry Martini, Cynthia Robinson and Greg Errico. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 1993. Performing classic hits: "I Want To Take You Higher," "Everybody Is A Star," "Dance To The Music," "Everyday People," "Family Affair," "Hot Fun In The Summertime," "Thank You (Falenttinme Be Mice Elf Again)" and "Sing A Simple Song."
When I was a kid, my dad and Jerry Martinez were friends. That was like 40 years ago now. I still remember being at his house over night once when our house was being painted inside. His son, little Jerry scared the living shit out of my little brother with a bear skin rug. Good times indeed.
During the early 1970s, Sly and the Family Stone transitioned into a darker and less commercial funk sound that would prove as influential as their early work[7] before drug problems and interpersonal clashes led to the group's dissolution in 1975.[8] Sly Stone continued to record albums and tour with a new rotating lineup under the "Sly and the Family Stone" name from 1975 to 1983. In 1987, Sly Stone was arrested and sentenced for cocaine use, after which he went into effective retirement.[9] Two of the original members Jerry Martini and Greg Errico still tour today as The Family Stone without Sly. Cynthia Robinson toured with them from 2006 until her death on November 23, 2015. [10]
What happened between 2008 when Sly was still touring and 2012 above? We saw the concert above when they came to Columbus, OH in the fall of 2013. One of the best concerts ever!
Totally FANTASTIC concert jammin to the hilt!!!!Sly still sounds as great as i remember and the group is still in the groove after all these years...over 44 years...Wonderful to still have that sound after all that fun in all those summertimes:-)I am gonna go look for this on DVD now...Thanks LOTS 4 posting it:-)

Man, Cynthia will be greatly missed forever. She's always bringing 100! So unique....Rest in Peace, sister, soul child.
The 34 people who didn't like this must be completely lacking any kind of feeling for soul whatsoever. They jammed their asses off!
+Andrew Hamilton If they don't like it F 'em.....Never did ..Never will be happy. Sly and Family Stone besides great social Commentary, songs and concerts got feet moving. I do not see anybody NOT dancing... Great feat for any band.
