I always thought that stringed instruments like the harp were super fragile, looks like I was wrong lol
Kurt Cobain has proved this very wrong on multiple occasions
They can be if they don't get proper maintenance and are stored haphazardly, for sure. However, like someone else noted, that doesn't mean that abuse breaks an instrument.
Nylon strings are generally more durable than steel strings
Oh you were very wrong :D
I’ve played rock songs on my acoustic guitar and none of the strings have broken so far
Orchestral strings are pretty fragile. Guitars not so much.
I have always assumed harps were incredibly fragile instruments, maybe because of how beautifully and gracefully the harpists would play? Or how the instrument looks like it could tip over easily? I'm so fascinated! ❤
The frame creates extreme tension in every single of these strings, so both withstand a lot of force just by being ready to play. It's closer to a piano than to a guitar in design and the reason harpists are so delicate in their actions is mostly because they care for their fingers.
"this is the whistling effect"
**strings turn red**
Yup yup 😂😅
Not a big fan of that sound or nails on a chalkboard…
The string is red to notate "c" the ones that are dark blue or black ate use to notate "f"

those metallic sounds are going to reverb in my brain for a while now, I love it
My uncle who passed away about three years ago, he was a luthier. He had a workshop filled with tools, musical instruments of all kinds, and even a small stage with mics and speakers he'd set up for the neighbors to all come play music with him. And he knew how to play every single instrument in there. His specialties, and what he made for a living, were violins and harps. Sometimes I'd help him carry in projects that he brought home from work, including partially assembled harps, and a lot of care and love goes into each instrument. These kind of videos bring me back to that, just all the unique memories my partner and I made with him, and I miss him. Thank you for sharing.

As a percussionist, I always appreciate interesting extended techniques. My respect for harp has risen even higher
Hey, I have a joke for you.
What do you call "someone who hangs around musicians"?
A drummer. 🤣🤣🤣
@@castleanthrax1833Maybe a violist would appreciate such a joke better. _ba-dum tss_
You can do basically what you want with percussion instruments. Or rather, percussionists get to do everything. I've seen György Ligeti ask percussionists to crumble up paper loudly and call that percussion.
Often the musicians that usually stay in the background get to have the most fun.
Drummers are cool though, nobody sleeps on the drums.
As another percussionist, same. I knew harp was cool but i didn't know it was THIS cool
@castleanthrax1833 I get it's a joke, but in all honesty a lot of the percussion music I've played has been immensely harder than the violin or trumpet music I've played.
Now I want to see her play that metallic sound that sounded amazing
No wonder Davie said Harp passed the vibe check
I felt actual pain when I saw the “whistling effect”

As a harpist, I have never played or heard of any of these sound effects. But they are soo cool and I can't wait to try them.
I LOVE how this angelic sounding instruments just made horror sound effects 🤣🤣🤣
I felt the same way when I found out I could play entire minor compositions on ukelele. I am not a professional, mind, and I am a guitar main, but as the dinky uke one can get for 40 bucks at any music store is mostly known as playing only sunshine-y major chords, I be like "Is this legal?"
@@viscountrainbows2857I only play my ukulele sadly lol
I had no idea how dynamic a harp is. Very Impressive.
The whistle effect on a guitar is one of my favorite sounds in the world, I didn't know harps could do that!
