  • Oh my what a crazy show this was to be on and in the audience. I remember it so well, because there were so many stupid comments made... "because we are living in todays society" what does that even mean? "I know gay people because I'm a hairdresser" what?? How narrow minded is that? theres more.. oh and how could i forget.. "We knew these three were gay as soon as we walked in" Well thanks for that you bigot! we knew you were a bigot as soon as YOU walked in!

    Thanks for sharing. I've just had a really good laugh watching this. The sad thing is that I'm not sure we've come much further forward in the society we're living in today, whatever that means ;-)

    I don't suppose you have another one from the era - "Back off sister. it's my life"?! We were in the audience and I lost the video!

    Thank god times have moved on. As a gay teenager, watching programmes like this only reinforced my fear that I was a 'freak' that would never be accepted and then facing further prejudice at school (children no doubt brainwashed by parents who didn't know any better). Things got better in the noughties when people started to really think about and re-evaluate these subtle prejudices that had been the norm for decades.

      I grew up seeing The Naked Civil Servant (1975), now let me tell you, that was seriously a big worry... thankfully I turned out to be quite butch, and a bit loud.. haha

    Monstrous. People talking about mothers being to blame or innocent when really the point is that they aren’t lesser people for being gay so it doesn’t matter how it happened. Sure, there are unique challenges (especially in the 90s) but they’re talking as if they’ve raised them to be serial killers.

    PMSL!
    This hasn't aged well at all. This guy goes on about being gay. No other content to his jokes. Boring. He could have stopped talking after the first sentence.

      I have to agree, it felt uncomfortable way back then, i remember it very well. I have a feeling it was that time that Vanessa tried to get a laugh in the green room by taking the mick out of my tie...

    Wow, 90's TV, the era you could say what you wanted and it was ok? That was an eye opener, homophobia right in your face.

    • @sensimania
      @sensimania Před 3 lety +1

      Yup, pure homophobia, racial slurs, prejudice etc in the 90s, 80s, 70s etc. It wasn't until around 2007 that people started really complaining about political incorrectness, and society taking heed of those complaints.
      But somehow Family Guy can still get away with it, lol! Not sure how they achieved it. That cartoon is so politically incorrect (at times) that its politically correct, because they saying what everyone is thinking (or saying behind closed doors)

      @@sensimania there's still people who are homophobic. I'm not homophobic but I've realized i might be gay since 14/15 years old. But i know its NOT a choice being gay. I've never been able to tell anyone because i have Autism. Its not because of their parents either

      I wasn't talking about homophobic people. I was talking about TV. We rarely see homophobic themed movies/TV shows these days (amongst other things that are politically incorrect).
