- A short video about a plein air painting of Monument Valley. I covered some of my drawing process - how I start blocking in a drawing and then how I start massing in the colors, eventually refining it.

@@patrickokra My pleasure. I painted yellow daffodil flowers. Please give me your advises if you have.
Whenever painting something “yellow” or “green” or “red” like daffodils or grass or apples, look to see the variety in the color- there are parts that are more neutral, or mayb under shades of other color. That variety will add to the realism 👍
I love this plein air painting session. Do you use any mediums like liquin? Also what surface do you use to paint on?
Thanks! This was on a claessens 9 oil primed linen panel- my only medium is linseed oil🙌
@Patrick Okrasinski hey Patrick! I've got a question about oil painting. When I'm painting in layers, I use liquin so that it will dry relatively quickly. However, I notice that when I'm about to paint over it with my next layer, it's really difficult to judge the value of the dry paint since the saturation is slightly gone due to the earth tones "sinking in" and going matte. What do you do to counteract this? I find it difficult layering on top because I don't want to go wrong with certain values that may be very close together in value/tone in the reference. Sometimes I can find myself basically not even using the block in as a foundation and instead painting over every square inch of it with a new layer. Maybe I'm just too picky and too legalistic with the tones, but what do you recommend I do?
Hey Patrick, I love the masterful level that you have already achieved, I know you are relatively new to You tube and am wondering if you are posting under "entertainment" or "educational" content, or if you can do both? I think you are well on your way to having a good fan club behind you. Cheers, from Australia
thanks- I don't remember honestly. I think I am somewhere in the middle so it could go either way
Воздушно!
🙌
Are you out there now? Is it cold?
The footage was from early November!
