  • As an estate and elder law attorney in Alabama, I am often asked this question: which estate planning documents do I REALLY need?
No matter how small or large your estate is, every single adult needs these 5 legal documents-no matter what. These documents include:
    • Last will and testament
    • Revocable living trust
    • Living will
    • Durable power of attorney
    • HIPAA authorization
Depending on the nature of your assets and the complexity of how you would like your assets distributed, you may also benefit from having other documents in place. For example, irrevocable trusts or Medicaid asset protection trusts are useful tools for many people, but certainly not mandatory.
This video explains a bit about each of these 5 legal documents that every adult needs. If you need to draft any of these documents-or have your existing documents updated-please reach out to Miller Estate & Elder Law by emailing info@millerestateandelderlaw.com or calling (256) 472-2172.
