    Just bought a 2023 Z400. Traded a 2000 Triumph Thunderbird 900 Sport. I loved the looks of the Triumph but frankly, at 78 years old the Trumpet was way too heavy for me. Slow speed riding was a real chore and stop and go traffic was always stressful. I have only put about 20 miles on the Kawasaki so far but its a great little bike. Fast enough to get through traffic and very very very stable and rideable. For the record I have been riding motorcycles since 1960 so this is not a beginner bike for me. So far so good.

      I’m happy for you, I couldn’t agree more with the power and weight ratio of the bike you have all you really need. I have been itching to get another 400 and still considering the z400 such a fun bike, I would love to put bags on it and ready it for some commuting. Congrats on the new bike and thanks for watching 🍻

      @@oceanhome2023 get one. I am 62 years old and have ridden Vmax , Honda, 919, which I still own, and an Indian, FTR 1200. I bought a little Kawasaki Z 400 and it’s great around town and light touring. The gas mileage is unbelievable. It’s fast enough for the freeway and small enough to enjoy the back roads. I did, however, adjust the handlebars with handlebar risers, and raise the seat up with an aftermarket seat, and a seat pad, and the two bolts underneath that hold the seat up that will raise the seat, so you are not leaning against the gas tank with your crotch

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  Před 2 lety +1

      The z400 is a great starter bike, the main reason I liked it better than my ninja 400 was it matched the ergos instead of trying to be a bike it isn’t. I loved the ninja 400 for what it was, it just looked like a supersport bike but had the ergos of an upright bike. It’s just personal opinion and a really small complaint, either bike is a great bike and perfect for beginner and still fun for experienced riders

    PIcked up a Z400 a few weeks ago by trading off 2 bikes even for it with my dealer (I would have gotten the Z650 but didn't want to spend the extra). It is a fun bike to ride around, and we just do back road riding and I take it to work when weather is nice. I just ordered the ergo seat and some risers in hopes to improve the comfort on it. I have had big bikes in the past but as I am getting older now I really enjoy these 400-500 range bikes a lot for the type of riding I do. Great review and I also watched the Z650 & 900 videos (my inner child really liked the Z900 a lot! LOL).

These little bikes will teach you so much more about riding than a big bike and you will have a ton of fun. The ergo seat was a must in my opinion, thanks for checking out my vids I appreciate it and im glad they were helpful... cheers

      No a noob question man its something you learn as you go. You have get get good at the timeline, if you dont do it perfect its not great for the transmission. A bike like this Z400 or N400 though have slipper and assist clutches which actually make it much easier to do. To upshift you have to roll off the throttle and kick up into the next gear it just has to be well timed (roll off, kick up, roll back on throttle). For down shift i dont recommend doing as much as this one is a little harder to do. You have to quickly apply throttle downshift roll off slightly and roll back on the throttle. That one takes much more practice and as the upshift if down wrong its bad for your transmission. Hope this helps

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  Před 2 lety +2

      I suggest the 400, the extra power which is really not a lot but just enough to enjoy freeway riding. You will enjoy riding the bike longer without the need to buy a bigger or faster bike. I believe the 400 power is the sweet spot for beginner/ fun second bike to own

    Having a new Z400, there has never been a small capacity bike like the two stroke 1985 Yamaha RD350 with the first YPVS I had back then. Dropping a Honda V4 400 or a Honda 900F at a traffic light and your only fear is not seeing the other guys taillight, but keeping the front wheel down even in 2nd gear on a 350 was an era I think only Elon Musk can maybe recreate again. Maybe a Teslasaki Plaid?
