"Pahadi Chhaliya" or "Chholiya Baja" and Chaleya dance is a traditional folk dance and music form originating from the hilly regions of Uttarakhand in India and Wstern regions of Nepal. It's a vibrant and lively cultural expression deeply rooted in the heritage of the Kumaon and Garhwal regions as similar as Far Western and Mid Western regions of Nepal.
Chholiya is a form of dance, often performed by men, characterized by swift footwork, graceful movements, and the use of swords and shields. The dancers wear colorful traditional attire adorned with ornaments, and the performance is often accompanied by energetic music played on instruments like the dhol (dainu), damau, Jhyaali and turri (a trumpet-like instrument).

This music is also used for traditionally worshiping system for local Temples. This music is used also in Deuda songs and other Pahadi songs. This music and dance is symbol of pahadi lifestyle.
