Baking soda test doesn't react on black and some reds of bakelite. Also many amber pieces of plastic will glow under uv light and/or the static electricity friction test. Never use just one method to confirm what you have.

I've heard of several different ways to test it, but I've surprisingly never heard of this method, so again, thank you 😉. I've tried the hot water method a bunch of times, but considering that I don't know what formaldehyde smells like, it's kinda useless~lol. In regards to the toxic method you mentioned, were you possibly referring to Simichrome? Love your personality, btw 😃👍.
