I know how much effort goes in to milk that goes on your bowl of cereal or in your cup of tea. Working on a farm with 300 milking cows starting milking at 5am everyday and not finished until 12 noon is very tiring but also very rewarding knowing that you've provided the nation with fresh milk from a cow and none of this soya rubbish that probably being half way around the world before it get to your table.
Hats off to all the farmers every where! The world depends on the farmer. Weather people know it or not. Farmers are the salt of the earth. The backbone of the world.
Good Morning Richard, lovely vid to see the girls giving my daily milk, i used to work on a farm in my younger days,we used to go contracting on other farms, one especially i remember had diary herd, breakfast time we used go to parlor and get fresh milk o so lovely can still taste it now, you do a sterling job, crack on,now i am ill seeing you farm lifts my spirits, thank you 💗
My back give me trouble 5 years ago and again this year. Went to physical. This year I got a actic puncher on back. It's was a great job on you you won't feel nothing. I did 2 vist to him.
I definitely miss working on the farm I don’t miss getting up urley in the morning helping out milking. Mind you the breakfast was amazing fresh milk 🥛 with a cuppa tea and porridge in the winter time was absolutely amazing. Nice to see the cows being milk 👍🏽. Crack on !!!!
I used to love milking…. 4:30am, (first milk) coffee with milk straight off the cow - but that’s the smallest parlour I’ve ever seen lol, identical to the one we had, but half the size. I loved the sounds from outside and all the smells city people hate. I wish I lived closer, I’d milk for free. I’d labour for free, it’s really nostalgic for me your farm. Hope you’re well Rich.
20 yrs ago, packed up, used to have 8 cow bale. 100 head, stopped us getting bored! now in my spare time i am slowly creating a 3D model, with a plan to create video type of thing, the parlour and rest of the set up. Keep up the good work.
We have a 14 unit fullwood herringbone parlour and find it very easy to train heifers is it difficult to get a heifer up on that high concrete block first time ?
Love watching milking vids it’s my favorite job milking been doing it 20 years now and still love as much as the first day especially the morning time is the best
Have you ever thought of installing a robot I put 1 in last December and I will never look back great job especially if you want to try and keep your kids interested in your family farm. You have a nice set up all the same. Keep up the good work 🥛👍🏿🐄
I love watching you milk the cow's is so different to the way we milk we don't wash our cows and we call our shed milking shed not parlour the filters are different I would to milk in your shed I used to get up at 3 start milking at 4 have 430 cow's to milk and that is a small herd
Checking the weather for Glos. I see you all are having temps. in the high teens C. It looks like you are having rainy weather this morning. Is this your Fall weather? Do have a time when the leaves change over a few weeks or is it more sudden? Are there winter crops to be planted? Have you sold that beautiful angus calf that you showed us? Haircut looks really nice. Have a good day!
13 1/2 years since I milked my own cows ( I milked cows and goats for about 6 years for other people) . And I regretted selling them almost every day since. It was my decision to sell no one else's but I really miss them
Wish you guys were getting a better price for your product...awful lot of overpriced stuff in the grocery store but milk always seems surprisingly low, even considering store promotion.
I hope the dairy inspector wasn"t watching you milking......... he"d be saying he"s not foremilking them to make sure they haven"t got clots in the milk before putting the clusters on. we had a visit from the dairy inspector once whilst we were in the middle of milking........ he stood at the end of the parlour for 10 minutes and watched us milking the cows to make sure we were doing the correct procedure. luckily i remembered to foremilk them before putting clusters on. cows are looking well richard, I"m guessing theres not too much holstein in the breeding, but pushing out a decent amount of milk all the same
Morning🐄🇬🇧👍🇺🇲 Richard, that background music was a bit dark and depressing. Maybe a little inspirational sax jazz would be more uplifting🎷😎. If cows could speak. Wonder what goes through their minds? If I was cow # 67 waiting outside the door I'd say Fuchit and wonder back out to the pasture for a nap. Milk On!
Good morning us townies and city folk really appreciate Farmers like you Richard up so early to milk the cows. If I was not for dairy farmers we all would not have products made from milk. And be putting vegetable based products on our cornflakes.... Yuk ... Btw your looking a bit peaky from lack of salt ..
That takes me back my first job leaving school was in an old 4 abreast wooden bale parlour that was once used In fields but had been put in the yard and built round this was In the early eighties when we had a couple of really cold winters and it was bloody freezing to work in one day the milk was freezing as it went from the cow to the jar There was no steps in that one cows were on floor level so it was back breaking we had about 35 cows, that was pre-college , post college I went to a huge 400 cow unit on 3 times a day milking in huge herringbone parlour in Chewton Mendip talk about dark ages to modern
With all the modern farmers getting robic milking would you not buy a second hand palour there would be lots of them in ireland i only worked for a dairy farm once im from a suckler farm but i do know a herringbone would be a better set up you can add on through time
How long does it take you to milk your cows in that system... I know its old system and wonder if its justifyable to put in a newer system to maybe save you some hours a day.. Appreciate that costs money but time is valuable commodity..
Thank you for what you do. Not just milking but for ALL you do.xx😀 You are a great Farmer all round. xx

Learning so much through your videos. Thanks for sharing your life. Much respect for the farmers.

Thank you to show a farmer works and your farmers have to do to put food, drinks on our tablet so thank you all
Great video Richard, good to see how the milk gets to the consumer. Amazing how they just walk straight on.

like the way Mrs Moo and all her friends stroll up to their pens for milking pens. Farmers worked right through the pandemic
Lovely looking cows Richard
Never seen a milking parlor like yours.
This abreast parlour was common in Britain in the 60s and 70s, but there are very few now.
I've done milk recording, some of the farms started milking at 3am !
Great to see abreast parlour still going. Brings back lot of good memories.

How many cows do you milk

When are you going to build a new milking shed?
I would not be able to work in a set up like that. My back wouldn't agree.
