Omg I totally forgot that when I say watching the dance over and over again I meant the mirrored version!! Don’t keep watching the regular version bc you will end up mirroring everything>< thank you for watching!!
My Yeets no I meant that if you keep watching the regular non-mirrored video it’s hard to flip the video in your brain. So for example if they step left and right in the video, when you watch it non-mirrored mode, your brain is perceiving it as right and left. So you would take an extra step to process the right move (which is flip it in your mind). But if you watch the mirrored version, you don’t need to take that extra step. Your eyes and brain is naturally seeing as right and left from the mirrored version. Does that make sense?
That’s what happen to a lot of us when we watch covers/non-mirrored fancam s so many times we tend to mirror the moves!
please snapping tutorial?
@@susiemeoww I find it harder to learn from the mirrored version lol
발렌제니 me too, I have to watch the regular dance practice or else I’ll just get confused, since I already flip the moves, if that makes sense
@@PamPam2912 I mean for me it depends on the choreo. I usually watch the normal version but sometimes I get confused so I have to watch the mirrored one. For example, Violeta, because their arms are really fast and their feet as well
“For tip number 2- I mean 3, learn how to count” LMAO
Lmao 😂😂i didn’t notice that until i read ur comment, but i like that she kept it in the vid 😂 uwu
CraZ Kitten same 💀
The irony
😂
omg xDD
1. Keep watching the original vd before learning
2. Learn by imaginarily teaching the choreo
3. Learn how to count
4. Study the lyrics and make stories with the moves
5. Focus on memorizing which side is the right side
6. Focus on the transition between each move
7. Keep doing the moves that you got stuck with to get the muscle memory
8. Film yourself after you generally learn
9. Start to learn some basic hiphop moves
10. Practice a lot

violet . sand you are welcome💖
You’re an actual angel
banana milk eheh thank you^-^
Oh, thank u💜
I don’t like practising with people watching me practise. It’s awkward
peaxxch So true . I wish we had multiple like buttons.
The same energy as mine. I don't have my own room. Simply as that because I share it with my cousin. But no excuses, I still continue dancing with my big mirror. And also because I will cover NCT 127 Kick it and Punch chorei and post it in my exact birthdate (June 20)
I share my room with my siblings so I don't have that much privacy to practice
I have my own room but I'm not allowed to close my door and my parents randomly come in my room😓😭😢
@@averagepotato3004 it's fine, me too, my parents always pass by to my room. But I confronted them about I want to dance better so I told them "If you'll see me dance in my room, please just don't look at me" and then boom. They're used to see me dance till they don't care anymore... It's fine if they'll see you dance like a squid, just be confident and you're the only one who cares about messing up. It's their problem. Be confident and talk to them, even if they laugh at you if you'll continue dancing, someday they'll just let you do what you want because they always see you. Know what I mean?
my favorite tip when i can't figure out a move from a dance practice is to find someone else's dance cover and see what they do for that part because a lot of the times they make the move look less complicated than the idols do
Thanks for sharing this finally a solution for understanding a movement.
Yeah me too, an example is the beggining of fake love. I really couldn't do that lol
slowing down the video also helps to figure out a move
Yes @hani. Really really helpful.
I slow it down
Instead of counting, I learn by saying "PaPaPaPaPa" bc I can sometimes get confused when saying numbers, idk y tho
...J-hope..Sorry
Same.....like...chachachacha and dundundundundundun helps alot
And like bum bum bum bum bum helps a lot too
Same, and I learn many Kpop dances and it always helped me
Same
I memorize the moves fast and well, the thing is that I just don't look good while doing it... 👁️___👁️
big mood haha
omg same lol i sing so i can count really well and i learn dances fast too but when i actually dance..... lol horrible
*i think this is most of us* lol
:')
Try to put emotion into it when you are dancing.
jeonaeri that's bc you should put emotion into you're dancing, make facial expressions as if you are on stage, and keep practicing and filming yourself help to see what mistakes you made and fix them! Bc sometimes how you look in the mirror isn't how it looks on camera! *AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, PUT POWER AND SHARPNESS INTO YOUR MOVES!!*
Study the lyrics...
The song:
We got that
Boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom (yea we got that)
Lol

Lmao 😂

Gotta love the Dreamies ❤️

Also for counting- one of the biggest benefits of learning moves by counting is you’ll get more accurate with the tempo, bc a lot of times moves are not based on music but based on the tempo of the song!
Is it weird that i can dance without counting ??
Rolly Polly same I don’t need to count
Maybe if you dance alone you can do it without counting (even though you may not be very accurate with the tempo), but if you dance the choreo with other people counting is very important to make all of you synchronized
テトテト I dance with 2 other people and we always evaluate each other when we are dancing together and I can never get the tempo right so I have started counting now especially since we are learning don’t know what to do and everyone has synchronized for it to look good.
テトテト i danced for 13 years and never needed to count even with other people. I can hear everything i have to do from the music, counting always made me mess up. People are different
My tips
1) watch dance practice videos multiple times
2) learn the hand moves first ( the upper body moves)
3) learn the bottom parts (foot work etc )
4) put them together ( speed x75)
5) dance in regular speed
Totally agree....cus learning hands first and then syncing works!!!!
oh thank you!!!
Same tips!
Thanks! Also that Ice Bear picture looks rlly cute 💕
Liz OMGGG THANKS
Here’s my tip: if you mess up in the song, instead of starting over, just practice that part until you get it perfect.
Moon Wolfx I do that too but it's also good to do it all together bc sometimes your muscle memory may get it when focused on but when you're in the moment of doing it all together, sometimes your memory still messes it up you see lol
what if you forgot a step WHILE actually performing? what if people already know how to dance goes and you don't have anyone to look at?? I mean you can improve or something or try to remember it but what should you do?????? Because if you have a concert tomorrow and you don't remember the moves then what should you do????
I thought it's the same as tip no. 7
my tips (it works for me):
1) watch dance practice or fancam
2) teach myself with every step by saying 'bam'/'tap' (I don't count because it's bothering my focus on the music)
3) remember one part step by step (example: the intro first before moving to the chorus, bridge, breakdance and outro) by practicing in front of the mirror
4) practice for hours to make my body move well with the beat
5) take a rest like 30 minutes before practice again to make sure if my mind/body is already comfortable with the choreo
6) for face expression (if you filming/performing), I watch stage performance a lot to get the vibes of the song
OMG same same

Lmao i remember jhope *bam bam bam*
@@brokenfrog8462 yeah, that's what I thought of!
I either clap or say ta
Uhh...i dont want to watch myself after filming.. i might never dance again

I know hwo you feel 😅
I felt that-
I filmed myself like... yesterday? I thought I was going to puke lmao
@@shaegin7840 i filmed myself today and i looked so bad. Like omg i stopped looking at my face in the mirror
This is more of a memorizing tip (that I use especially a day to two day before recording a cover) : anytime you mess up just start from the beginning again. You’ll really get any parts you are messing up and get the parts you already know down well as well.
Lacie Boi thank you!! This will be really helpful ~~
That's what I do... It makes you be focused more and not make mistakes
I do this for everything! Everytime I do a mistake I redo everything from the start
@@lbnb9556even tho it's a lot of sweat but who cares 😂 this shut should be done or I can't stay calm
Lacie Boi I agree, I also do that but I also focus on the actual move I'm messing up itself to get muscle memory of it more then do it all together
The biggest tips ever are to
1. ALWAYS learn the moves on 0.5 speed to learn the moves before moving to faster speeds.
2. Learn it section by section (e.g learn the intro and practise it before moving onto the next section)
Thanks
How i do it:
1Find the mirrored.(i suggest don't watch mirrored covers since they will be different from the group)
2.Listen to the song many times.(you need to know the song obviously....this is what i did for Boy with Luv and Fancy🤟)
3.Slow it down.(slowing it down really helps me study the moves😊)
4.Match the dance to lyrics/beats(i use this technique instead of counting..it's easier for me😁)
5.Talk to your imaginary friend😂(Tell them..oh i got this move!Ooh that move is cool!I learned it gurl!)
6.Memorize it
7.Look at myself dancing after memorizing(it helps me see what moves i need to learn again)
8.Learn the moves again(i learn the moves that i got wrong while looking at myself)
9.Repeat those moves I don't get(i did this for Dalla Dalla...the feet on Yeji's part was pretty hard..so when i was shopping i kept doing it and then i got it)
10.Cleaning my dance(after repeating and repeating the dance i look at myself again and do the dance slowly without music)
11.Practice(This applies to my cover group of Itzy...we have to practice and practice even though we got everything set.We had to keep on doing the twerk(?) At yuna's part...which looks terible on me since i am not fit😔)
12.Critic(let a friend/parent/anyone to critic you.It really helps.Trust me..they know where you kinda do it wrong..or like that..)
This is how i learned all the kpop dances i know right now😊
LunaHas Love Imaginary friend? 😂 but I agree with a lot of your points however I would say DO practice in front of a camera too bc there's too many times where you look different in a mirror vs a camera lmao
ahh, did you comment on that architect builds a minecraft house video?
Oh my my my I fancy yOooooooouuu 💜 thanks for the tips
I also make the imaginary friend thing, it's weird but somehow it works lmao
number 5 is so cute hahah i might try some of these ty!
For me (as a person in a dance cover group and having performed in multiple competitions, festivals and cons since then):
1) Repeatedly watch mirrored dance practices and take the time to closely observe what they are doing with a hawk eye. Hands are positioned like this, hips jut out like this, etc. Details are important.
2) Watch how the person you are copying does moves and try to do it _exactly_ like them in front of the mirror. Be their twin. Correct whatever you see that is off.
3) Recording yourself and looking back on it definitely helps. You notice mistakes more when you see your own dancing, and you can pinpoint what you may need to improve.
4) If there's a move you're lost on, keep working on it because muscle memory will eventually kick in and your body will memorize.
5) Notice when your body looks awkward or stiff during a move. To help, think of how to execute the moves in a way that will make your body look more pretty or cool in front of a mirror.
6) Work on your walking. Even something as simple as walking, you shouldn't use your normal walk. You should strut or swagger; move your shoulders and hips with attitude.
7) Take note of when to slow down or speed up. When to be graceful and when to add power. People notice small changes like this.
8) For facial expressions, get immersed in the mood of the music. Make sure your expressions fit the vibe of the song. Like full smiles and cute pouting if it's a fun upbeat song, or seductive stares and teasing smiles if it's a slow, sexy song. It's nice if you can give a variety of expressions as well.
9) Dance with the idea that you are there to show off in front of people. Think, "Look at how pretty I am. Look at how cool I am, I'm the best" as you give a performance. It will make you look more confident, which will show in your moves.
10) After you finish learning a dance, do the entire dance you learned at random moments throughout your day to see if you remember everything. Review everything you forgot or are unsure about.
That's all I can think of lol. Make sure to stretch, take breaks, and have fun. :D
I am trying to start a dance team at school, any tips?
@@qn_.
Hmmm, I have never started a team by myself lol. But the origin story of my dance group is that they had friends who also liked kpop and wanted to try dancing. They started out as a group of like 4, and slowly included people who wanted to try dancing in kpop covers. Today, we have like 20 ppl and we are all comfortable with each other and get along really well! We've also really improved throughout the years of being with each other, which I love for us hahaha
So I'd say you can start by maybe looking for people who have the same interests and suggest forming a group with them! If it's at school, you can maybe consult a teacher about forming an official club or something. To recruit new members, encourage them to try something new and assure them that regardless of the level of dancing they are at, everyone will improve together. Might be good to create a group chat to keep in contact with everyone too, in like KakaoTalk , WhatsApp, etc. After that, it's important to have fun and keep good relations with everyone, because it can be the ultimate reason for why they want to stay in the group. :)
I hope that helps a little lol. I wish you good luck on your dancing endeavours! :D
The 4th tip is important I learned Not shy and I was stuck on this move in the first rap part and I finally got it after redoing it over and over
I always do the last tip lmao
thank you! so helpful

Maggie Sandoval if it's mirrored just follow them exactly and don't try to flip the dance if that makes sense
Like if it's non mirrored they move to your right so you move left but if it's mirrored they move to your right so you'll move right.
I hope this helps!
I personally don’t count, I use the lyrics and music just because I can’t really feel the music when I count. Like I get too focused on counts that it seems more like a homework assignment, not something fun. It also helps me with memorizing the lyrics so I can actually lip sync them instead of being stone faced, counting in my head. But that’s just my way that helps me :D
I’m so happy you made this. You really encouraged me to learn Kpop dances and hopefully I’ll be brave enough to start my own dance cover channel. I definitely agree with you on tip 9. Taking dance classes is also a good way to self-learn kpop dances because it not only improves your technique, but also helps you learn faster and become more aware of how to move your body!
I subscribed to you, i wanna see your dances, i will not judge because i am not that good of a dancer either. Looking forward to you channel or if you start new one i will sub too
bry bry Aww this makes me really happy. Thank you for having confidence in me!!! I’m not sure when I’ll record kpop covers or choreography in general because I don’t have a space to do them besides the studio I go to. I do plan to record my dance progress on my Instagram!!

@Listen boi my first love story wait what-
nana omg this is like the 2nd time i have been misunderstood XD pp is profile picture lmao
Every time i film myself doing the dances i usually give up on learning that's why i don't do it anymore ..
For counts, instrumental versions sometimes help
Thank you for making this video. This is exactly what I needed😘
Yes same, I love learning kpop dances but it's kinda hard oop
For blackpink's song-- I would count the part where you said "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8" as "1 and 2 and 3 and 4." If you need in betweens of that, you can say "1 a and a 2 a and a 3..." etc.. Of course, it doesn't really matter if you're just dancing alone, but that's the way I usually hear people count.
Thats basically how you count beats when you learn a musical instrument like guitar or keyboard or drum, etc.
An easier way is 1-e-&-a-2 the enunciation of e between syllables is easier, but that's how you learn basic syncopation of any instrument. By learning an instrument especially in concert band setting you learn to internalize syncopation without thinking about it.
Hapito I was just gonna say it’s usually more 1-e-and-a too since I play an instrument as well haha
Easy steps:-
Watch dance tutorials
Break a few bones
Then realize u can't dance
LOLOLOLOL😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
i can’t- 😂😂
JAJAJAJA
that’s literally me, then i end up learning a bit of it and being like:
*ok next dance*
How I learn a dance cover:
1. Watch the dance practices/ other's dance covers
2. Get infront a mirror
3. Trying the moves one by one (not mirrored so it won't be too hard)
4. Combine the moves
5. Dance all the moves I get
6. Learn the details
7. Mirror the dance moves
real name kim taehyung kim BAD but if you're gonna do mirrored, you may as well learn the moves mirrored otherwise that's too much time and work if you suddenly mirror everything at once imo lmao
@@bwingbwinggwiyomi but for me its harder to dance the mirrored in the first place
@@s4ndrio but if you first watch it as the mirrored it's the same
Josefina bruh for me it's not
@@s4ndrio why hahaha
The tips I follow
1 - watch the dance many times (know what you’re learning and choose which stage/member you want to learn from)
2 - be specific/consistent with the moves (since different members have their own styles sometimes they each have different moves so focus on one member/stage
3 - only focus on one part of the song at a time (divide the song into 8 counts or sections such as intro, verse, chorus, etc) to avoid overwhelming yourself
4 - depending on the song, learn moves based on 8 count or lyrics (for some dances counting will be useful while others use moves that hit on certain lyrics)
5 - learn the basics of a move in a section first then perfect it after learning the rest of thesection
I don't know why but I always prepare myself for a deeper voice even when I know that your voice is not deeper
I don't even want to do covers. I just want to look good while dancing.

"Practices makes improvements"
i thought i could dance... until i danced infront of my mirror
Thank you for the tips they're very helpful ❤
Here is my tip ⬇️
- if you want to learn the choreo of a group, choose only one member and try watching their focused cams (since sometimes different members have different choreos) it really helps concentrating more on the dance moves
tips that i use for myself:
• get used to mirrored videos first. so when you watch an unmirrored version of the choreography, you won't have to flip the video itself. just memorize the easy parts.
• try to take it slowly. do it from 50% slow, to 75% and to 100%.
• learn a few steps first, (like first verse) and replay the song over and over again until you nail the steps you're trying to learn.
• try countings. count 1-8 and backwards, according to beat.
• or, if you're a fast learner, try to go to 75% slowed mirrored version. then go to 100% straight away. (It's so you can be able to learn choreographies more fast.)
• repeat the dance everyday, until you finish and learn it completely.
these are just some of the tips i use when learning kpop/non kpop choreographies.
Step one: Be susiemeow
Step two: have talents like susiemeow
Step three: realize I look like dog trying to find the frisbee
Step four: give up but then you hear mic drop.
i‘m thankful to myself for being in hip hop when i was 10-12 bcs i learned the basic when i was young so it’s easier now and i‘m a cheerleader and a gymnast so counting is easy for me and remembering dance moves to and i REALLLYYYY like your videos
i also recommend to dance the dance in like 2X speed so you xan know that you know the moves and it’s alot easier to dance the dance in normal speed ❤️
I dont even have space to learn them. I'm too shy to learn them anywhere other than my room which has very little space for dancing. So whenever my family is not at home, I'm so happy cuz I get to freely learn the dances.
How I do it:
1. Watch the choreo
2. Try it
3. Give up and cry
just like me😀
Thanks for the tips you’re videos have really helped me improve ☺️💞
Bro her earrings are the cutest 😍
Alright so i’ve been all day trying to learn wannabe by itzy by a tutorial and since I didn’t have any mirror in front of me i was doing it without looking at my moves and I thought i was doing it perfect and i got really happy until i recorded myself a while ago and i realized i look dysfunctional af, i’m really sad and mad with myself and I don’t want to give up but omg i swear to god i’ve never seen ANYBODY dance that bad like god damn.
Just keep trying😊(i memorized wannabe already and im 11 O.o)
Instead of counting i memorize the lyrics and learn which beats and words to do them on and i also go "bababa" n "pa poom baba boom "
This is basically what I do when I learn a choreography (probably I don't do it correctly, but yeah)
- Watch the dance video a lot of times
- Learn one little part at a time
- Record a video of myself every time I'm done learning a new part (to correct some mistakes, I think it's better to fix them right away)
- Try the whole choreography different times while recording to see if I've missed something
Also if there are some steps that are not really clear to me, I watch slowed dance practices or dance tutorials
(sorry for bad English)
If you’re not trying to exactly copy it, sometimes I just improvise and add my own moves where I’m not sure, as long as most of it is the same if you’re just doing it for fun this is really fun to try out!
I’m trying to learn itzy’s wannabe rn and its HARDDDDD
It looks so easy, but it really isn’t. It’s sooo tiring (I don’t know how my poor girls do it) I’ve probably watched the dance practice a hundred times and I still can’t get the moves as smooth as them.

girl you are basically listing many of the most useful techniques for self-learning in general, not just for dancing, good job and thank you
Here's how you count for those who don't know:
Most songs are 4/4 time, and you can count to 4 over and over and it won't sound weird. Usually, dancers would count double that time (so 4/4 becomes counts of 8, 3/4 becomes counts of 6). If it's 3/8, you'll just count to 6 faster. If you don't understand the 3/4, 4/4, 3/8 stuff, just think of it as fractions. The bigger the numerator, the bigger it becomes. The smaller the denominator, the smaller it becomes.
If you can't tell what time the song is, you could just try different times. But sometimes in a song theres a thing called a break. It's where the melody repeats itself 3 times, then breaks that pattern with one set of something different. You can listen to the melody and count (on beat of course) how many seconds/counts it takes for each melody. If it's a multiple of 4, then it's probably 4/4.
Sometimes (but rarely happens outside of classical music) there's a song that changes counts regularly and can't be counted, then you'd just count to 8 (8 is the standard stuff for dance).
Idk if this was helpful, I've been dancing many types of dance (I suck at hip hop) and this stuff no longer needs to be explained at my studio, so counting for us is like second nature. Ya...
Thank you for uploading this video I'm trying to learn dances and your tips can help me. I'm excited to learn some dances now😊
Love these tips. Simple and right on. Thank you !

Thank you so much, this is actually really helpful!!! I'm currently trying to learn Monsta X's "Dramarama" choreo and I feel like I'm getting no where, I'll definitely use your tips!💜💕☺️
When I watch a dance practice/cover I always look at the footwork first. Then I replay and look at it again, but slowing the vid down. And after that I start to memorize it. When that's done, I do the same with the hands. I do this, because memorizing the footwork while I'm looking at the hands to is difficult for me.
Thanks for this advice😊
Thank you for these tips, hope I’ll be able to post my own dance cover soon ☺️
Thank you so much, I really needed this!💕 Honestly, you're such a big inspiration to me, you're a great dancer so thank you for sharing this amazing tips!💙

This was veryyy helpful. I have a dance account on Instagram and I was/am never really proud of my covers. I’m a hip hop dancer and take real classes which means a teacher personally teaches me but obviously I can’t do that when learning dances especially if I wanna learn it fast. I can also say I never watched fan cams and dance practices over and over and tried to learn it whenever I see the dance but I later realized that takes way to long and also realized I never learned small details and I just picked up the simple general part of it. I’m a pretty fast learner when it comes to choreographies so idk why I never just watched fan cams but ig that’s just me being lazy 😂. I tried doing your tips with learning Snapping (I’ve learned the general dance by doing my old techniques) and I can say the results are sooooo much better. I do find that 8 counting isn’t for me although I know how too just from being a hip hop dancer but when learning a dance, i find I’m more comfortable with just learning the lyrics and concentrating on the beats and instrumental. But other then that everything helped me! Tysm Susie!! 💕💕💕
All 10 tips are great! Thank you for sharing!!!
i also have a tip🔴
first watch and pracise the dance in 0.75x slow . that will be help to understand the dance moves
Thank you this helped me soo much!
okay so these are the problems i have:
1. i look like i have no power and stiff on camera when i dance.
2. i always forget the choreo
3. i lose balance when i dance
Ugh I am always stiff! It's horrible for me tbh
Try not to lock your limbs 😊
practise I used to dance professionally when I was younger but I haven't for about 7 years and now I've starting doing kpop dances I'm a lot stiffer than I used to be. I was stiif back then as well then I started but the more I danced and practised the more 'loose' I became. So keep practicing and don't give up it might take a few months or even years but you'll get to where you want to eventually
That's why you're learning to dance to be better...
Right?
Idk if this will help but this helps me and I just try to 'not take it as serious' and this helps me relax in a sense like dancing like no ones watching and feeling the song xDD Think of it like waving your hand as dancing try to do it stiff then relax and pretend to do it gracefully like a princess or something LOL
thank you so much for this!! i really improved on memorizing dances
This video is really helpful! I love your tips ! Thank you for making this video🙃
Can you give more tips on 8 counts like a whole video dedicated to this subject and do you use transitions counts when dancing. I’m not really confident at counting I feel I always mess up which I do.
Sorry this is late, but a tip that they teach you in music school and dance class is to count with a down beat instead of counting to 8 It goes like this: One- and- two- and- three- and-four- and. This way, the transitions are a lot smoother
(my way to learn the choreographys on a KPOP song)
1.Watch the original video
2.Learn the few steps from the video
3.Wach the lyrics video
4.Watch a practice video or a dance cover a

aw unnie, wish i could be at the lalary event but I don't live in the LA area ! Hope it all goes well, Lalary fighting!!
Susie is chinese so it would be “Jie Jie”
@@selestyah0310 ^^ shes right,,,, (source: im chinese) and if youre not korean (unnie)/chinese (jie jie) you shouldnt be calling her those anyways,,, thank you
generalchenchen I have a question. I’m not either of those things, but if I were to go to South Korea, shouldn’t I be calling an elder male or elder female unnie or oppa because isn’t it based out of respect?
All of these are effective. I'm also doing it whenever I practice some kpop dance.
Lmao I know that I should rlly learn how to count the counts, especially as someone who has done ballet and dance for almost 5 years.... But sometimes life requires you to YOLO it. So um I just listen to the music and dance.
How do you avoid copyright when posting a cover on CZcams?
you need to get an appeal, or just change the pitch of the song
cheryle chia but doesn’t the appeal take a long time to be appealed 😂
In my other channel I use the songs without changing them and they never got copyrighted
i tried your tips and i reeeally helped me learn the dance easily and faster! thank youuu

How I learn dances:
1. Make sure you're motivated.
2. Try splitting the dance in sections.
3. After you memorized each part of the dance try cleaning the moves out
4. Have confidence, You're the main character bestie I'm proud of you.
Thanks so much for this, this helped me dance in general and now I’m one of the top dancers in my class
This is very useful thank you susieee❣❣❣❣❣
