This part of the Song of Songs has always fascinated me, as it fascinated Saint John of the Cross and other mystical writers.
Once you realise that the “just” phrases are the man’s, and the “and” phrases are the woman’s, the dynamic of the piece opens up.
Mystics see it as a ‘dialogue’ between a human soul and God.
David Lang’s minimalist style encourages us to discover the beauty of God, of each other, of ourselves. Tusind tak, Pigekoret...
