Trans Athlete Controversy at High School Track Meet

  • Aayden Gallagher, a boy who identifies as a girl, finished second overall in the girls' 200m and 400m races at the Sherwood Need For Speed Invitational in Oregon. While the viral video only shows the heat stirring the most controversy, I provide extra context as a former track & field athlete to highlight why this is such a big deal.
Aayden's times would have finished 61st in the boys' 200m and 46th in the boys' 400m. I also discuss inherent biological differences between male and female track athletes. For example, the varsity boy who won this meet in the 200m had a time that was only two-tenths of a second behind Flo-Jo's world record 200m time.
To those who believe Aayden should be allowed to compete with the girls, please consider the following: Whose spot did he take from his own school in order to compete at this meet? Who missed the lifetime memory of a podium finish? It appears this will only end when female athletes refuse to compete, and their parents raise the issue with school administrators. It's terrible that this seems to be the only path forward, girls deserve an opportunity to compete on a fair playing field.

I was both at the Sherwood Need for Speed Classic 2 weeks ago as well as an event that went down yesterday called the Dean Nice invitational, and I saw him run each time. First, I’d like to say that Sherwood is a massive meet in our area, and at the time I was comparing it to a pre-state meet. I have zero doubt that every girl in his heat had worked incredibly hard to get to where they were, but that’s even more so at this later (smaller) meet, where he stole gold. Yesterday, he ran in the top heats for the 200, 400, and 4x400, and came 1st for the first two. Now not only is this again incredibly unfair to those athletes, of course, but it’s also unfair to the TEAMS. I don’t want to dox myself, but two wins is 20 points, and that’s a ton. That’s all I’ll add. He’s wreaking havoc, and I wish I could embarrass him in a race but he’s too cowardly to compete on the men’s level

i suppose the problem with that "trans league" is that reinforce the reality that these people dont want to see. If they want to be treated as what they tell the world they are, then a special league wont do it. They need to participate on the female league to confirm their delusion.

It gives the thinking away when someone races. This individual knows she has an advantage the is not fair. If she was taking drugs, she would be disqualified. She is using another performance enhancing approach and that is grounds for disqualification. This is not about her right to be who she is. This is cheating at a sport.

Men are better in every athletics event than women except for 1 which is marathon swimming distances. Even that is biological due to women's body compo making them a bit less drag in the event which surpasses the male athletic advantage over those distances. I really hope this is corrected and remembered as a huge mistake, where the burden of proof should have been met before altering women's sports. It would be like if someone intentionally got bad grades in order to compete and win in the special Olympics, and the athletic advisors just allowed them to compete until it was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they and like 1000 other people that started doing the same thing all had an unfair advantage.
