So Beautiful!!!! Thanks for sharing. I have a soft spot for Volkswagon Bugs. I had a friend who did a body off resto on one similar to this one. With the moon roof and all. It was lowered with Porche wheels. He took me for a ride in it. SO MUCH FUN!!!!
Nicest '53 beetle I have ever seen. I was born in 1953 and I have had 6 beetles, 2 Karmann Ghias and 2 water-cooled gtis and I would love to have this one.
A suggestion. To keep the rubber seals throughout pristine get some Xerox Fuser oil. You can buy it on ebay. My dad worked for Xerox in the late 60's and a fellow co-worker new of dad's 1969 911 and suggested using it which my dad did prolifically. Still all original mouldings and seals. So 50 years old. My dad sold sold the it in 2009 and a synopsis was written on behalf of the car and writer said the seals and rubber were better then new parts.
Excellent body and interior restoration. I would have liked mechanical to be original, however overall a great restoration. Changing electrics will give better use of modern day driving and also with new mechanical side .Nice split window/ sunroof model.Well done.
.....being me a lucky owner of a Typ82/dod 1°Aug,1943: certified by "WV"Museum, and with, even, all its "KZ"/Fabric bolts: best compliments abt. body and total hig-quality restauration, I'm sorry to criticize the "horrific" engine/exhaust modifications: those details are the "soul" of beautyful car. Best Regards
the Zwitter bug its a hybrid of the split window and the oval window beetle as for the motor originally to be a 25 hp 1131 cc engine but first year for the Solex 28 PCI carburetor as it has an acellerator pump as the carbs the 26 VFI and 26, 28 VFIS carburetors did not have an acellerator pump. as there is a canadian standard of this zwitter but the steering wheel is the old 3 spoke type.
Me too. Did not have split window or convertible top but did have the turn signals. Sold it years ago to buy new one. ( tears) Every car I owned turned out to be a classic.
spudsgarage you didn,t mention an interesting figure of these older VW Beetles...the lever in front of the gearshift one in the center is for the reserve fuel .....enough to do almost 40 miles more
I don't know if it was the first reliable cheap car in the world but it certainly was certainly known for it back in the 1960"s before the Japanese car invasion , I personally had three types of them , solid as a rock construction , brilliant bullet proof suspension , I read somewhere that they were perfected during WW2 and never froze on the Russian front and never boiled in the African deserts , its a dam shame we are obsessed with change but this car should still be made just with better handling suspension and better mechanics .
I bought a '62 sunroof (new) when stationed in Southern Italy. Drove all over Europe, brought it back in February, 1964 to Western Pennsylvania. Refused to start in cold weather. I had to park on a hill and drift down using the clutch popping technique to achieve a turnover. The local VW dealer claimed there was nothing wrong. After that I traded on a Triumph.

that's probably one of the best-restored Beetles in the whole world and especially this model from 1953 is very rare.
Amazing looking Split.
I have a 1955 oval with a 1915cc, but would definitely love a Split one day. Great job
Amazingly restored. I think much perfect than the original.
So beautiful. I love classic cars! And this one is spectacular!

Very nice, It would greatly enhance the look of this cute little bug if U put some white wall tires on that bad boy
NIce detailed video. What a fabulous car!
IN 1968 MY 1ST CAR WAS A 1960 VW WISH I STILL OWNED IT
Early 53 and late 52 VWs so much the same. They changed to oval rear window sometime in 53.
Nice..
Now that"s FAHRVERGNUGEN!!
Beautiful toy close to perfect
this is something thats super astonishing what a beetle ought to be

I always know before the video begins I'm going to see a knockout example and sure enough, here's another.👍

Awesome
I had a 1963 which I had seven years and wish I still had it
Me too. Did not have split window or convertible top but did have the turn signals. Sold it years ago to buy new one. ( tears) Every car I owned turned out to be a classic.

12,000 dollar paint job? Damn....
Why would someone give this a thumbs down?
My dreem car ❤️❤️
The best
What a car
perfect
Thank you for not putting whitewall tires on it
Looks brand new to me
Slam it and add Fuchs!👌🏻🇺🇸
I had such a vw , but without the special open top, the problem was that the brakes were connected with cables , so no hydraulic system
That paint IS gorgeous. But $12,000??? Is that right? Yikes!
The only thing that mess up this car wrong motor for it
💙💙💙

In Germany they are known a 'pretzel windows'.
Bretzel
The only thing missing is the wind up key on the back of the but.
Us ex-pats in Europe in the '60's called semaphores "mox-nix sticks", as a tribute to German drivers.
I noticed a few flecks of dust inside the hood area - other than that - I would drive it.
Beautiful bug for sure .? What kind of money was put into it?
Split window rag top has always been my dream car
all you need is white walls on those tires.
12000 for paint Jeeziz
Say what you want about California, but we know how to do cars right. That bug is beautiful.
A $12,000.00 paint job for a car that cost around $1200.00 in 1953.
I LOVE THE BETELE
The oldest one that I ever saw was a 1956 convertible.
Probably capable of 75mph on the interstate, disk brakes are great, but, still highly susceptible to getting blown off the road by big trucks...
SO you kept it all stock and then you open the Deck lid!!! WTH?

Close the ragtop sunroof

Beautiful!
