To me Cormega is the best QB MC. And i love Nas and Prodigy. You can easily hear his influence in their work. To me he is the better storyteller, maybe because he lived it, it is so visual and heartfelt that it hurts the heart. Definitely the most underrated MC, the definition of street poet.

When "The True Meaning" came out, it was the only album besides Styles P's "A gangers and a gentleman"" which I could listen to from front 2 back w/o skipping. I bumped both albums heavy that summer!

Refreshing and heartening to hear the long-overdue respect and shout out to Haiti! They defeated a European colonial enterprise at the height of the latter's power, and have been blackballed ever since. Shout out to the fact that they were the inspiration for the slave rebellions here in the state's; and the oppressors were literally terrified of the pending connection between their rebellious ''property", and those islanders. Shout out to the same old story of American success being the result of one type stealing from others--and in this case, getting a famous university named after them. It's no surprise so many hateful and dumb@ss schools in the south (especially but not specifically) can't jump through hoops fast enough to keep these truths from being taught.

Honestly Nas was the bridge for me to listen to QB rappers... I'm from South Africa so I wouldn't be privy to obscure facts of Cormega BEFORE illmatic but with the internet as the years went by, there's sources that confirm him predating illmatic, then the questions is did he had a buzz that surpassed live at the barberque? It's not a false equivalence but I understand his frustrations about how people downplay his work or try to eclipse it with Nas... He did well for himself against all odds before him... 🇿🇦

Love Mega and I get how frustrating that could be.
But Jesus you have a whole ass three verse song on your first album with the concept that youre writing him back.
Like the whole song was about you on some you made it a hot line I made it a hot song shit.
He kept your name popping giving you an unofficial credit of sorts on whats arguably the greatest hip hop album of all time. Then put you in his group and on his second, crossover multi platinum album thats a classic on his own right.
Beef kept your name buzzing although you were putting out
stellar work and you're an incredible artist in you're own right.
Then you reconciled and after his King's Disease/Magic Series netting you another feature on a important Hip Hop album, theres buzz about the possibility of a Firm reunion album.
    Be real.
Its much easier to create a buzz than it is to maintain it.
Nas sure a as shit helped you maintain it. Be glad people arent taking the time to point that out and instead are talking about one line in 1994.

No disrespect to Cormega. I like his rhymes. I'm from the West Coast. I never heard of him until Nas shouted him out. Then I paid attention to him. That's just the reality of it. Doesn't mean we don't know hip-hop on this side. Nas just gave you a wider audience. Because I bought anything that I had Queensbridge on it. I even had the lakey the kid album. 😅 the only reason is because of Nas. Facts.
