- Testing and Reviewing the Falken WILDPEAK AT3W tires on my Toyota Tacoma in the snow and ice. This is a pretty good test of the Falken WILDPEAK AT3W in the snow and ice. I was pretty happy with the performance of these. Its hard to show in the video but we had about just under an inch of ice that mixed with two inch's of snow. The trail was very slick. We could barley walk down it.

I just bought a set today and had them installed. I live in Nashville and my subdivision is a literal sheet of ice. No issue in my Ford Ranger and the Falken WILDPEAK AT3Ws. Thank you for this information.
I have the 17" version on my stock F-150 and you didn't go anywhere i couldn't after 3 years of having these tires. They are excellent.
I live in Michigan so I'm used to the weather you're in too.
At3w are a fantastic tire. Had them on my tacoma and now 4runner. They do everything.
Wild peak AT3W works great on snowy mountain roads in smaller sizes also. I only run a 235 wide on my outback Wilderness and I couldn't be more impressed without going to a full winter tire. I have also ben places I have no business being at because this tire installed confidence.
This would have been my tire of choice, I read somewhere that sometime around 2020 or 2021. They change the compound and they are no longer as good in the snow, are yours newer ones? Can you speak to if the newer ones are still that good?
@@chrisb-br5nx I only have 8,000 mi on them and I have been to the snow twice and pushed them to see what they could do and I have no complaints. I am also using a tighter tread pattern than a large truck would use which may make the difference in how great the snow attraction is. The tread depth is still deeper than BF Goodrich. It is as good as I need for wet rocks, roots, gravel, icy sloshy mud. I have to go through fine sand washes that cross my roads sometimes and it sucks but gets me through. Just saying if I had to be in sand and sticky mud I would switch to a hybrid. If I was in snow more often and not just for vacations I would still use this tyre.
@@chrisb-br5nxI believe it! I got a set 2022 and it was not the experience I wanted 😬 First fender bender, sliding everywhere, and wayyyyy too much play in the wheel for me to be comfortable. I think I’m gonna get grabbers again before this season gets too bad. I cannot afford a subpar winter AT with 20+ ft of lake effect snow.
Great video as always ❤
Thank you ❤️❤️
I’ve got stock size Falken Rubitrek AT’s on my 21 Tacoma Trd Off-road. Great tires so far, 5k miles on them, this will be 1st winter with them.
That rig is a beast.
Thank you!
Awesome looking truck
Thank you!
Just bought a set 35x12.5 r18lt gotta see how they do. Replacing a set of toyo at3 that did great for me have a 19 ram 2500 and I went through snow and mud up to my license plate with them. But I don't think the toyo can handle the weight I haul getting a little wiggly. So I got the F rated wildpeaks gotta see how they do.
Useful video. Could you or someone reading this explain to me what exactly "traction control" does, and what happens when you turn it part way off and all the way off? Pro's and con's maybe? I heard your comments and would like to understand it better.
Is it as comfortable as the stock tire?
Noise rating on the hwy??? How do the tolerate trailering on a daily basis?
are these SL not E?
Gotta get these
Ate these Falkens hard to balance when installing?
thx for vid.you did,nt smell burning rubber because of the smell of burning weed.😎.Yall were laughing and having too much fun.😊😅. i,m jealous ✌🏻
Mine hang lower than they did in the past as well. 😥
😂 lol
Dashing through the snow....
Love snow wheeling!
Over the Jeeps we go
Currently have 265/70/17 on mine Tacoma TRD off road
Lost 4-5mpgs and constant shimmy in steering wheel no matter what I do.
See your running 39psi…. I had a TON of wheel play and rode like a brick.. what size are yours?
I have 285/70/17, are you running 10ply ?
I lost the same amount too on a 07 4Runner, I was getting 22 mpg combined with my grabbers :/ Now I get 19 and it stays at 19 on the highway even.
Everyone I talk to recommends the Falken wildpeaks
16.8 mpg on them driving? Are those e rated tires?
He’s still trying to find where on the tire it says it
😂
Bfg t/a ko2's on the forester. Don't tell your mom, but i think allot of that noise you hear in it is the rear pinion bearing🤫. Also the back road to the house required me to use 4hi today. I would like to see if those wild peaks can do it in 2wd.
Did you enable auto LSD?
@@ModernDayViking i did, truck slid back down the hill. Was no hope for 2wd
They would probably perform even better if you aired down (I have Wildpeaks too)... but who has time for that!?!
Right, with the ice I was sure airing down would help to much. If it was deep snow definitely would air down
Hate to be a jerk but you didn’t even tell us if LT/E rated or non-LT, and the exact size. The non-LTs are softer compound and grippier
They are LT 6 ply. My bad I thought it was implied since LT stands for light truck tires.
10 ply is better
Did you lose mpg?
I did coming from the grabbers and imo I feel less comfortable in the snow. My region gets 20+ ft of lake effect snow each season, snow and ice performance is high for me and the falkens are letting me down :/
Not deep enough for a snow test try them in 32 inches
Yup. I 2nd season with my falkens in 20+ ft snow region and I am not excited. Got in my first fender bender with the last season and they cannot get the traction I need on the road.
Don't be fooled, Wildpeaks are beasts. They are 3 peak rated, so they are absolutely geared for snow. I run these on my Taco as well and love the hell out of them.
Edit: Forgot to mention that conditions would need to be 10x worse than what you "tested" before these tires fail and become useless. Think more along the realm of 2-3 feet of snow vs 4-5 inches.
I did say it was about 2in of ice lol. Ice is a different beast than snow ❄️. Next time I will ask for some more snow.
@@ModernDayViking Agreed. If you want proper testing of ice, then you will need to acquire spiked tires. Not really a fair test of any unspiked tire otherwise.
3 peak rated means shit.
They only test acceleration.
Braking and steering is not included in the test, the most important with a good tire.
@@dubious6718 Sure slick. If you say so.
