I went to jazz school, I'm a working musician. I have a deep love and respect for this music. But I don't feel he need to go around and be a boomer about modern music.

The rythym section, that's it; you guy always have it. Samara, singin' the music I love best equally with my favorite contemporary Brazillian singer; Sega! WOW women; Samara and Sega, now that's singin'.
I made a big mistake, Sega is not Sega, it's MAR, and she's Spanish; and man can she sing! Love to everyone from myselfnow a armchair musician who hasn't performed since the early '80s. Times wasting for us old dudes; remembering how good it felt to play in public.

Just saw both Samara Joy and the Emmet Cohen Trio at the Tucson Jazz Festival. Wonderful concerts. And they got together one evening at a jam session. Perfection!

A few months ago I found out about you Emmet Cohen, Russell Hall and Kyle Pool as an amazing jazz trio with your series "Live from Emmet's Place". Add to this all the marvelous guests you presented in your concerts. The jazz lover that I always was is more than happy! I"m still trying to catch up with all of the concerts you did, but today, 01/02/2022 I can tell that this one with the immensely talented Samara Joy is very close to perfection! Oy vey Emmet!!! The fast finger work was soooo cool!! My grandmother was a virtuoso pianist who started performing at age 5. She played classical music but her son my father chose to play Jazz bass (you have to imagine the conversations that went on “you’re going to do what….Jazz….?????” 😂 lol
But watching this really reminds me of dad; he just died in February.
How can someone so young sing with such a sense of having lived and loved?

I've had the blessing to experience shows featuring Emmet Cohen and trio on one date and the next week, Samara Joy and trio. Oh my! I am excited that jazz is in such good generational hands with gifts to carry the genre into the future! Then catching this video of them together? Ecstasy!

Samara's lyrics and arrangement on Nostalgia are ingenious and superb! Love the entire performance by the trio as well. This is undoubtedly one of the best and most inspiring concerts I've ever been to.

As a sound and recording engineer and long time jazz listener, I've worked with some of the greats (Sarah, Carmen, Sylvia Symms, Joe Williams,) and listened to all of them, I like her a LOT. These sets are wonderful -- great musically, with excellent sound and video.
