I hope one day I could visit Green Aqua and personally thanks Balázs, Tamás, Viktor, Atilla and all the Green Aqua staff for the positive impact this channel (and aquascaping) has been making in my life since 2020.
Cheers from this brazillian supporter of yours (Professor Klebber).
Just want to say that this is really a helpful video especially for people like me who thinks "as long as its bright, it should be fine". It gives good insights on how to choose a light without going really microscopic on the topic.
I dont get why other people cry in the comments because a certain topic about the lights are not discussed elaborately knowing that there are a lot of details and intricacies to this. A good recommendation for a more specific topic for a future video is good, but some of the comments here are plain rude. I mean dont expect that all questions about aquarium lights can be answered in one video. Thats not possible.
Keep it up Green Aqua!
A really helpful guide. Thank you Tommy, thank you so much Green Aqua!
Such a nice video. And what beautiful tanks. I had my first aquaria about 30 years ago and had paused this activity for the last 10 years. It's mind-blowing how these things have been evolving! I understand that this is basic info, but very useful for an old man like me. Thanks!
Happy to see that you like the video. 👍
What an awesome resource this video is. LED lighting can be such a confusing subject. Thank you to Tommy and Green aqua for demystifying it. I will advise all the novice scapers i know to watch this.
You are welcome, old friend! Glad to see you here. :) Been a great fan of yours from the beginning.
Another excellent tutorial as always very enjoyable and always raise a smile well done Dan & the Green Aqua team 👍
Appreciate your support James 👍
VERY USEFUL-GOOD INFORMATION FOR STARTERS N OTHERS
yesterday I was watching an old video of yours about lighting...
you guys are AMAZING, cheers💕
Thanks so much, glad you find it useful 👍
You guys have a great sense of humor. I like it. but not without me 😆
Tommy the magician🤣💡
Lighting is always an interesting subject! Right now, I'm using very budget and cost-effective lighting. They work okay on my low tech simple planted tanks!!
I'm striving for a high-tech "Green Aqua" tank someday😁 and the ability to grow some more specialized and carpeting plants!!👍💚 Great points to consider!! Thank you for explaining lumens and LEDs. The ones I use right now, I get off of Amazon they run 1700 lumens and 6500 Kelvin they do have adjustable red, blue and white lights. But they're very cheap and I know they're not going to last long!!
Thanks for taking the time to explain all the individual lights and their features and who manufactures them!! The ADA and Twin Star lights are some I've been considering 👍
Great video and great information Tommy!! Thank you again for sharing with us!! I hope you guys have a very blessed and beautiful day! 👍🌿🐟🌿💚
Thank you Mary 💚👍
The best explanation I've ever heard. Thanks a lot for this. Now, I know which level is my lights. I have a Twinstar C II Line and ONF Flat Nano. Those are entry level lights, but I'm very happy and plants grow well. Cheers pal. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks for your words Luis 👍
Thanks for the useful info ...
a class on lighting, it's a lot to learn in a few minutes, more than a huge asset
💚
Wow that’s some amazing aquariums you have there 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for your words. Especially in these critical times, aquascaping hobby is a blessing. Heal our minds and soul I believe. Helps you to focus on other things.
This videos really useful for the beginner , thx alot for always making a good videos .
🙏👍
Excellent overview, thank you!
😊👍
A few weeks ago I bought two twinstar B line 30 lights for my Fluval 57L aquarium. I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money as it is my first scape, but I knew the light I was using before wasn't really good. Good soil, good fertilizer, good flow and CO2 on a good level but still not really good growth. But now after a few weeks of new lightning the aquarium exploded with growth and the plants pairl like crazy. 1 light wasn't enough but a pair of them does it really well and is still cheap compared to other lights.
Awesome, very informative video 👍
Many thanks. This video Is perfect. Extremely clear and indispensable to choose my perfect lighting. Many many thanks

beautiful
Thanks for the video!!
You are welcome.
Great video.. about par.. just buy a par meter.. and measure what you got.. especially when scaping with overhangs, etc.. loved the video.. well done.
Great tuto ! Try to smile ! More !!
😊👍
The aquarium lighting systems have evolved a lot, most of the lights that you presented are unfortunately not available in my country, BUT a couple of the really high end are available for import but then they get quite pricy.
And as always great information thank you! 😃
Thanks for watching my friend 👍
Thank you sir.
Great material! THX! :)
Thanks Lukasz. :)
Thank you the only thing I was stressing about with planted tanks was lighting.
Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for the education.👍
Thanks for watching 😃
Excellent video! I learnt about LUX and Lumen. I did not know that...I am used mostly to T-8s...nice.
😊🙏
Very, very bravo, from Sardinia, Italy!
Thanks a lot.
Cheers. :)
Super glad I watched this. I bought a Twinstar 30B thinking about the size and not the wattage. I spent up for a nice c02 setup so might as well spend for the 300E III. Thanks! You guys saved my first build from having sad plants.
You're welcome, glad you found this useful!
Great video as always, by the way, what are your color setting in the Chihiros RGB vivid 2?
Thank for a really good video. I totally agree that comparision of different manufacurers are difficult in todays market. I know you dont stock the Sera LED X-change system, however, in what category would you place their system? Asking since I went from 2xt5 to 4x LED tubes and actually feel I'm getting less out of the LED system, to the point that a new system is on the "to buy list" and I want to take a step up so to speak
Awesome
Brilliant video!!! When I was starting out, I did a lot of research but still made the mistake of assuming, the more you spent, the better the outcome would be; which I guess to some degree is true, I just wish this video had been around then, I could have saved a small fortune and arguably got the same results
Yup the goal with the videos to educate viewers on some practical ways. We've been there too. And lost decent money as well. Unfortunately back then there was not any info out there which would have helped us.
Tommy, A big thank you for creating such a informative education video. Perfect Short and detailed explanation. Yes sometime too many technical information will confuse many new aqua scaping beginner. You are another master level humble guy.
Thank you for your kind words. 🙏😇
Awesome wow
Ugyes video ,mint mindig kosz a szimpla ember nek valo magyarazatokat :D
Nagyon szívesen László, örülünk, hogy hasznosnak találtad!
Thank you for the informative comparison. You stated that you run your lights at 100% from the beginning. It looks as your lights are also hung high above your scapes. Could you share your PAR levels? Thank you!
I am using twinstar 600 EA.. Pretty happy with the results.. May be later once if i wanted to go for more higher end this guide is really helpful 😊
😃👍
thanks guys for this! Could you please address how to properly adjust the co2 levels in relation to the light power in one of your next video?thanks again.
Noted 👍
Very useful! 👍🏻 I am planning to buy Chihiros C2 RGB for my next cube 30 project.
Thanks a lot.
It's a good choose. ;)
Lóri
Excellent Video
🙏😊
perfect
Azt a mindenit, nem semmi videó gratulálok, nagyon profin körbejártátok a témát, iszonyat sokat lehet belőle tanulni. Le a kalappal.
Köszi szépen, örülök, hogy hasznosnak találtad!
Great vid!
Thanks a lot.
Very nice and informative. Please suggest which one we should select for Planted Aquarium - "Chihiros A II Series" or "Twinstar B line Version III"
Another great informative video from the wonderful world of aquascaping!! Thanks Tommy for the info! I have a chihiros rgb 60cm and hope it’s powerful enough for a high tech tank my next scape a uns 60u!
Glad you like the video. 👍😁
chihiros rgb 60cm is good for 80 cm tank ?
@@supermeseriasu it’s could work if the legs reach the edges of the tank or you suspend the light! But the left and right sides might be a little darker than the middle! If you suspend it you could turn the light all the way to 100% and raise the light higher so the light could reach the edges!
This was such a great help, i have my first tank and the pet store upsold me the Chihiros A series over the Aqua One version and this video has made me fully comfortable with spending that little extra money.
Yeah, a good light makes a lot of difference.
Thanks ! Great video again, and it helps a lot !
I just have a concern, as many led light are really powerful, I was wondering if you are using every light at 100% of their power no matter the tank, or if you adjust the maximum accordingly to the category of plants you are using ?
well depends if you get algae problems. Less intencity and lenghts in lighting means less algae most of the time.
hi tommy, for chihiros there is an option on the light intensity right? so how many percent recommended/suitable light intesity with 6500k temperature should i set or maintain daily. tq
100% Red
60% Green
90% Blue
You can check out my Instagram to see the effect it has on my Iwagumi tank as compared to the default setting used in my setup video on my CZcams channel.
Thanks bro انت رائع معلومات قيمه
🤗👍
I recommend seeing with your own eyes. I visited Budapest at GreenAqua. Optiwhite glasses and lights really made a great wow effect. It was like seeing a fairy tale.
Thanks for your feedback Martin 👍
Hi Tommy...
The video is amazing...
I have a question...what light setting do you recommend for a new tank ...
I have light Chichiros Wrgb 2... 60
Thanks
Здравствуйте. Только сейчас посмотрел это видео. Спасибо Вам большое за то что Вы делитесь своим опытом!!! Это действительно очень круто!!! Удачи Вам 👍👍👍
I know that you guys cant possibly cover, or expect to stock every light in the market, but i bought a Finnex 24/7 Planted light for 2 different tanks, and they work absolutely wonderfully. I have had 4 different scapes under them, all 4 flourished, 3 of which were no co2 injection, one of my current scapes is being injected with co2. This light cost me around $85 dollars at the time, i think they have come up in price to around $100, but i would pay that again if i were to setup another tank. The 24 hour cycle is fully adjustable, i run about 12 hours on, with the first 2 or three hours as a gradual ramp up to 10 o'clock when the light is on full power, then around 3 it begins to ramp back down. In the evening it sits at avery low "Moon light setting". Morning starts at 6 am, with a nice redish "Sunrise color". RGB, and the 24 hour cycle is adjusted via a remote. I wish that they had an app controlled one, but i am fine with the remotes.
Just one that i think deserves a bit of praise as i have been running mine for about 2 years now, and it is quite impressive still when i watch the preview of my 24 hour cycle how well it controls the lighting, and then when it is on at MAX its stunningly bright.
My one real complaint with it would be that the remote has to be pointed DIRECTLY at the sensor which if your sitting in front of the tank making time and lighting adjustments can be a bit finicky but i have found once you get past this, the light is phenomenal. If in the next 3 to 5 years it dies, i will certainly be ordering a new one.
Just something to consider.
Hello, I loved this vid, learn a lot.
Would Chihiros LED C serie C301 14W be OK for a 30l cube with not-so-demanding plants (without CO2)?
Hi from Canada, Well, you made me spend this morning. For my 120 cm long x 60 cm deep, I just ordered a Chihiros WRGB. 😀
Tell us later how that works for you 👍
I live in Winnipeg and am interested in ordering a chihiros in the next 2 weeks, where did u order from?
I hardly comment on YT, but DAMN Tommy. That was a great video.
Thanks a lot. :)
You are the best guys! :)
Thanks Lukasz, wish we could show more in the vid. Too short. BTW Hyperspot and WRGB II slim just arrived... seems like this story never ends :)
@@GreenAquaShop Definitely, it never ends. I've purchased few months ago Twinstar 450E, for my 45 cm tank. But before making hardscape. Now, when the hardscape is done i liked it the most when i have roots going out of the tank. So i would like to have a hanging lamp instead:( and i even haven't flooded the tank yet:(...damn:(
Great video! There is a manufacturer called Micmol that would be interesting to here your thoughts on. Also it would be interesting to here your thouths on bars vs spots like twinstar s vs something like kessil.
Ein sehr gutes Video mit nützlichen Informationen, gut erklärt,weiter so ! Viele Grüsse
Thanks for your words 👍
Best video so far not biased on any name in particular just facts and useful information and tips. I think I’m going to buy the Chihiros WRGB II LED (Built-in Bluetooth)
WRGBII 120 since I have a 60 gallon tank. Can this work on a rimmed tank?
3-4-21, Tamas very very educational video. I now have a much better understanding of the intricacies of aquarium lighting. I am always looking for ways to make my plants grow better and show off their color. Thank you. This is why I love Green Aqua. William, PS I am glad Balazs was not in the video! Only Kidding.
LOL William. B. :
Greeting from Singapore. Thanks for great information. How about the height of the light? This is also another factor for plants to growth? If ones saying the light is not powerful enough, can we lower the light so to have more light penetrate near to the substrate level, or can we extend the lighting hour for additional 30-1 hour? Would this help ?
Good Job Guys greeting from UK
Thanks Darek 👍
the best lights i have used are the Radion XR15 G5 Freshwater lights. I have tried a ton of different lights but those have been my favorite. my second would be the kessil A160WE Tuna Sun.
Thanks for information 😌😌😌
Thanks for watching 👍
You're welcome!
I ordered a Twinstar 1200SP for my new ADA 120p but now I'm considering the Vivid 2 instead. Any thoughts?
Hi whats the best setting to start with for wrgb2 for R, G and B? Thank you in advance guys!
Good day, could you recommend the best preset for chihiros Wrgb 2 for an aquarium with a large number of plants
fantastic movie I am very impressed! Can setting any amount of a single RGB color in a Chihiros lamp affect better or worse photosynthesis in plants? What is the optimal setting for all the buffs to 100% can I set: R80% G60% B72% when my aquarium setting looks beautiful - won't my plants suffer with this setting? Thank you and best regards
I would like to ask about lighting fixtures for the Rio 180 for natural plants
Hi can I use Odyssea slim X 300 for my 35cm planted aquarium with tropica easy category plants
Would you recommend more of a flood light style-light for a cube aquarium? I have one 35 gallon (50cmx50cmx50cm)
Be interesting to know rough heights above the waterline or rather from the substrate that you hang your lights at.
What are the measurements of the store tanks at the end of the video and how wide and high maximum should a tank have for a Chihiros vivid II considering that 60 cm long would be the most convenient?
When I bought dymax iq9 dropoff tank, it comes with dymax spacex. Iam not to sure about that space X light by dymax but they said is a high end side but I still don't like it. Luckily the manager said I can swap with another light which is similar values. So i choose wrgb Vivid 2 slim. Is wrgb vivid 2 slim studio light is on Spacial high end site or basic? My fish and plants colour were all pop out n I love it. Can i know about what's my wrgb Vivid 2 slim studio? Thanks 😊
I have the uns 90 u (35 l /22w/22h 68 gallons) so what size the platone light can be best for my new planted aquarium buddy. ? Thanks up front. Your answer advice would help a lot for beginners like me
Hi, I have a 120P tank, and I want to know is possible to use the Chihiros WRGB 90cm for it? Thank you.
