Are you making a team?
You've got to include some reference to these animals in your SuperZeroes adventures! Maybe some animal sidekicks?
You had to put "Alleged" in the title, because we don't want the pigeon's family to sue you.
And that’s a billion sized family 😅
And that’s a billion sized family 😅
...and he did
I like to think he was already sued by the pigeon’s family in the first few hours and he had to change the thumbnail and title
It’s bird law like on its always sunny
Not to divert from the main topic, but given the history of pigeons being used in espionage and message delivery, perhaps a pigeon-themed sidekick wouldn't be out of place in the Superzeroes. Something to think about.
There has to be some kind of "Holy _____ ______, Batman!" joke I could make here.
Yeah I'd love a pigeon sidekick!
Only if they're immediately released to the public domain.
i'd just be happy with a cameo lol
He better call him PIGEON in reference to ROBIN
I love all the bird puns in this one.
"feathers sufficiently ruffled"
"fowl play"
"pecking at the details"
Fun fact: the pigeon you show for German pigeon photography most likely belongs to a relative of mine, Julius Neubronner
He was an apothecary and filmmaker and patented that pigeon foto contraption in 1908
So you're saying that...birds are real but they still work for the government anyway?
loved that Indian-themed James Bond intro for the pigeon lol
It’s brilliant!
Loved that "Austin McConnell Presents" at the beginning
As soon as you showed the pictures, I was thought, "idiots, those are racing pigeons".
My first thoughts was the ring was a phone number.
POLICE: State your name and address
PIGEON: Kroo...kroo!
Sang like a pidgeon
3:23
"German pigeons were trained to take aerial photographs for enemy reconnaissance."
Um, WHAT?
You always find the quirkiest stories! I love it.
The phone number oh my gosh. Next time you feel stupid, remember the police mistook a phone number for a spy code
"Live and Let Fly"! 🤣 That was hilarious!
Haven’t even watched it yet but I know it will be great. I love the Really Weird History/story form videos on this channel!
Hahah it was a huge deal in India back then. All the news channels were covering it and it was the funniest thing ever!
What a weird day to be that pigeon. You take a detour to check out a weird human fence and then get arrested. I wonder if they gave this lil dude the same rights a human prisoner gets? Did they feed him?
Yes! Another really weird history video (if not in name, then in spirit)! Seriously, these are my favorite videos from you :)
Thanks! They take a while to make, but I always enjoy the process. If you've got some time and could share it around, it would really help me out!
The travelling animal series on this channel continues...
I appreciate the plethora of pigeon puns
I love this style of ypur videos. Glad there is more.
When I read the title, I did not expect the year to be "2020". 1820, maybe 1920.
That slight vocal shake while trying not to laugh about pigeons getting medals sent me!
"Don't let the Pigeon Cross the Border" by Mo Willems
that secret code: "The owners phone number"
what a cover story! can't believe you fell for that Austin!
Amazing. I've never come across this story before, but it makes a lot of sense, and I enjoyed your telling!
I love these little stories you pop up with. Thanks.
these videos are hands down my favorite type of content you post, AND it’s another banger!
Your storytelling, graphics, narration, fresh content, editing, ... You need a cape young man!!💥
just in time for the upload, austin!
Nazi photographer pigeons was not something I expected to learn about today.
Love these little deep dives you do into random and interesting topics. They're why I've been subscribed to you for years.
If you want another interesting topic, can I suggest doing a deep dive on the Great Baked Bean War of 1994? It's a fun little bit of British history and would make a great 5-10 minute video.
Using hawks to take down carrier pigeons is _genius_ !
Yay! I've missed your weird history videos!
Great video, as usual!
Nice video as always Austin.
The 'Lions Led by Donkeys' podcast had an episode about using animals for military purposes. Pigeons were apparently quite good at guiding ordinance, constantly pecking in hopes of a tasty snack before their ride goes kaboom. It is probable that they were considered for use in the Manhatten Project. Oppenheimer Fried Pigeon, anyone?
The Map of Kashmir you use at 1:15 is wrong because you show the "Chine Occupied Kashmir" as already being a part of China in 1949 even though at that time India had full control over it. Only in 1962 did China occupy that region.
Love the script and editing. ❤
yeah, they really didn't think through that pla
Wonderful video, loved to animations at the beginning, keep it up. Love from India 🇮🇳
Love this! It’s like going back to your origins of just doing random stories. The reason I subscribed. I enjoy watching these more than the cartoon stuff. Please keep it up.
Ps. I’m still hanging in there patiently waiting for ‘1hr of useless information’. 😂
They could have called the phone number day 1. 😂 Amazing.
Did they have tiny handcuffs for our feathered friend?
Since I deal with experimental tagging, I assumed it was that at first (usually have the institution contact on the tag).
But racing pigeons makes sense too. They want the same thing from their marking: Don't shoot me.
I love these random but very interesting stories!
I appreciate you taking the time to watch! If it's not too much trouble, sharing it around with others can help me in a big way. Thanks!
oh my god the amount of bird jokes, this is so freaking good 'fowl play'
0:17 is that Doofenshmirtz on the wall?
The internet is a marvelous place. Where else can I learn stories like this?
This was legit hilarious and well put together, as always
where I live they release a female pigeon and a bunch of colormarked male pigeons like our protagonist here and the owner of the one that gets her wins
Ah, this feels like a classic Austin McConnell video
You can tell you are a writer. You tell an entertaining and interesting story in 7 minutes when most other CZcamsrs (cough real life lore) would do the same in like 40..
Not even 1k views yet? Very odd this video is amazing
Two weeks in, and I get this now on my recommendations? (Yes I've hit that bell too.) Glad to be here now though.
Yay! More bird shenanigans
Love these videos! The snakes are still my fave.
Now we need a real spy pidgeon animated movie
I swear after this, the flamingo, and the sparrows, you've gotta be on your way to earning an Ornithological History degree.
Gotta be honest I was kinda hoping to appear in the B-roll..
Pigeon racing sounds cool.
Good story but the visuals are truly superb! 👍😁
'Neunundneunzig Luftballons', but it's a pigeon
Doggone it, how come fascinating and well-made videos like these get such little attention?
This is very interesting
"You Only Fly Twice"
This is an epic story
Cute story!
Damn they made a movies based off this
It’s Double-O-Coo! 😂
Why are they showing it on television? Well... Not the worst thing journalists have exposed on the news...
I mean. They aren’t the smartest peeps they just repopulate western countries
Why did you change the thumb nail?
Everyone knows Pidgeons aren't real... The birds work for the bourgeoisie.
Is that how that stupid "all pigeons are CIA spy robots" conspiracy thing started?
What a fun video :D
interesting alleged spy pigeon story.
Fun vid!
Who called the number, c’mon? 🤨
ive heard this story a few times.... none as fun as this one tho
So, the pigeon was a flight risk?
😂
A full investigation when something as little as a pigeon crosses the border? Perhaps the U.S. could learn a bit from this.
I remember seeing this on the news. It was hilarious.
The other thumbnail was better
It might change back in a bit. Trying out A/B tests. :)
It’s back.
Wow bird moment
You say pigeons don'tcare about human geopolitics, but I say we don't know about pigeon geopolitics, and we will rue our ignorance one day.
Anyone else remember that animated spy movie; where Tom Holland turned Will Smith into a pigeon. Because I didn’t until this very moment.
Fr
It's like my grandfather always told me: Never trust a pigeon.
cool
LMAO I would have gone for computer help on those names too 😅
Great episode!! Thank you 🕊️♥️
Beaksman : The Secret Service
ah the Spy in the pie, pigeon pie that is. Not something I fancy taste testing.
In the area of the UK I live they have been racing pigeons for years. My sisters husband won many trophy's for his fast birds. All the birds have rings on with numbers you can trace back to the birds owner. The birds sometime got sent to France to race back to the North of England100s of miles. None of his birds were spys..........or where they?
❤❤🎉🎉
Lol in-before people start throwing the inevitable fits of anger or happiness at "Kashmir, India". 🤷
INDIA MENTIONED ⁉️🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🦚🦚🦚
