"Everyone faced collapses!" - How Did The ZOOM X2C Do? I Paraglider TEST & REVIEW

  • Paragliding pilots were throwing the reserves and getting collapses BUT how was the ZOOM X2C? Carlo has tested the ZOOM X2C in two sizes over a period of around 4 months, in the UK and in Colombia paragliding hot spot. He's flown them for more than 40 hours, spread over around a dozen days with variable conditions.
Carlo tested the sizes 95 and 105 with various paragliding harnesses, mostly to vary his all-up weight. He flew the smaller size 95 with the mid-weight AirDesign The Sock, and lightweight Niviuk Arrow P and Woody Valley Race pod harnesses. He flew the larger size 105 with mid-weight Supair EVO LITE 2 with speedbag add-on and Niviuk Arrow, and the heavier Advance IMPRESS 4 pod harness. In Colombia Carlo was paragliding with the size 105 with the Supair EVO LITE 2 harness, with speedbag add-on.
"I think the X2C is a fantastic wing, with lovely handling and performance at the top of the sport class, yet the pilot demands are only a bit above the middle of the class, which is impressive!"

Hey Carlo, I have a Scala 2 and I flew also the X2C a couple of hours in Tenerife and also in Columbia this February. All you said about the glider is perfectly accurate :-)! I love the handling of the X2C. The Scala 2 is faster and have a slide edge in glide and maybe in bumpy stuff its a bit easier to fly but the handling and the overall package of the X2C is for me best of class at the moment. Thanks for the test 😊👍!

I am flying the X2C since April 2024 and it’s by far the best glider I flew with. 🙂
Carlo, I agree with all you said. It's a good and useful review. 👍

Very good review. Looks like 2 liner Cs are evolving into main stream middle of the C category.

    Great review, as always 👍
I think i need to try it… just looks like the glider I want: “lower” pilot demands, agile, top class performance and speed. Usually you need to choose between these factors. It’s not a problem for me the weight or packing compactnes.
PS: did the gliding quality drop more than a photon at 75-100% speed bar?

Hey, glad you like the review. In answer to your question, after many close comparative glides, often long and accelerated, my testing indicates the performance of the Photon and XC2 is very similar across the speed range. Overall the XC2 did not show any disadvantage, at any speed. If anything it showed a slight performance advantage at all speeds, including fully accelerated. Why, I cannot say. The XC2 is a newer design and, despite actually feeling less demanding, does have a very slightly higher aspect ratio.
