- Todays Video is a bit different to usual. Normally there are loads of Freight Trains on the Felixstowe line so I get a lot of footage. But there has been a Derailment at the North terminal at Felixstowe port meaning I only caught 4 Freight trains the whole 5 and half hours I was there.
I didn't know about the Derailment till I got there and realised most Freight services had been cancelled.
On the better side of things I caught a class 66 stopping at the Trimley station platform. This is a first time ever and have never seen a driver picked up at Trimley station before.
I also got some tones as well.

Was hoping to catch lots of rail freight today. Didn't learn about the Derailment until I had already arrived at Trimley station. Was lucky to catch the 66 stopping picking up another driver 👍
Yes, you were lucky. Nice to see that the weather has improved compared to last week. 😀
Very nice Train Video!
Thanks for watching 👍
Great catch with the 66 stopping at the platform. This is the first I'm hearing about a derailment so I'm glad I didn't go to Westerfield this morning like I was going to do.
Yep, As I was already there thought I might as well stay. Only saw 4 Freight trains in 5 and half hours. Wasn't what I was expecting when I woke up this morning.
The reason you probably haven't heard about the Derailment is the port have tried to keep it under raps. Apparently Some staff have been threatened by the port if they share photos or information. News companies have only just caught on.
Originally saw it on a Facebook group for train Enthusiasts. But that post has now been removed. Luckily I screenshot the post and photos.
The damage doesn't look good.
The East Anglian Times has now posted a very short article. It's gonna hurt rail freight videos for a while until the line is repaired.
Anyway, was glad I caught the 66 stopping too. Sorry for the rant. Thanks for watching
@TrainsAtTrimley-eastSuffolk I have just found some photos.Wondering if the foot crossing bit further back has been closed. If I go to felixstowe tomorrow I might go and have a look on way home.
@@UKShipspottingRailFreightTV I'm not sure whether the foot crossing is open or not. Went over it last week though. Didn't even think about it until now.
You'll have to let me know
Cool video. I saw 66 722 when it came through Needham Market. Like you I only learned of the derailment when I got back home. Glad you managed to see some freight.
Nice, will watch your videos a little bit later when I have the chance to.
To be honest if i had learnt about the Derailment earlier I might not of gone train Spotting today.
But glad I did as caught that very rare moment of the 66 stopping at the platform. In all my time trainspotting I have never seen a driver get on at Trimley before.
Gonna be lacking rail freight these next few weeks. Port is gonna be grid locked with all these containers that haven't left.
Thanks for watching 👍
@TrainsAtTrimley-eastSuffolk you're welcome. Yep it will definitely be gridlock at the Port for sure. Will take a while to clear the backlog.
@@Desiro360 yep, will be interesting wether they replace the track or use a rail grinder or something.
Should be cleared earliest 10 days
Thanks for watching, yes hopefully needs to be quickly repaired as it is a little bit gridlock At the moment with lots of freight services cancelled. At Least there are two separate lines to get into the port. Otherwise it would be chaos across the country.
@@TrainsAtTrimley-eastSuffolk No worries, good video 👍🏻👍🏻 yes its all a bit of a mess. Only South terminal is able to be used currently, with both North and Central blocked. A crane arrived today and will be used to re-rail the wagons tomorrow. After that, repairs will start on the pointwork, signal, sleepers and track.
@@easternrailfreight Yep All 3 operators have to use the south terminal. As a local it's very interesting to watch how they control the situation. Shame it wasn't a rail crane would of loved that on camera.
Do you think we will get any special infrastructure trains come to the port to Help with the repairs or maybe carry new track ?? Just wondering as would love to catch that on camera.
@@TrainsAtTrimley-eastSuffolk DB aren't going to bother running anything, GBRf already used the South term regularly so those trains are running as usual, Freightliner hadn't used South for about 6 years but are now running about 10 temporarily even though they show as North on RTT.
I'm not too sure about the engineering trains, I would imagine not but watch this space. They are going to be dragging the unaffected wagons out by rail as far as Ipswich soon.
@@easternrailfreight ok thanks for the info. I have been watching RTT very carefully at the moment but haven't noticed any rare moves except intermodal services. I'd love to know when the affected wagons are dragged through. I really hope it's not Monday as I've got lots to do. Would be tight fitting that in.
