love this, really promotes the voyage of the inner space - I would ask Alan Watts if in the cellular level can we say that each cell, each organ in many cases has unconditional love for the person they are inside of? ... will follow the word to love like Jehovah... thank you for posting this video. God Bless.

I generally like Watts a good deal, but this speech seems poisoned with the ignorant exuberance of the very early sexual revolution, before the real consequences started to become obvious.

I agree this speech is very much of its time, but then again all speeches are. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's poisoned with ignorant exuberance. It is easy to say that now with the benefit of hindsight so I can see how you'd come to that conclusion. I don't think Watts was being ignorant. It's a speech based on how Watts saw the spectrum of love at that time.

Life is a balancing act. Riding the razors edge if you will. I think Alan here is advocating, sometimes in the sense of physical sexuality, that we should loosen up. Still I would like to think that he’d agree that an abolishment of rule and order would be missing the point. Personally, this lecture speaks to me on a level far greater than the narrowness of sexuality and physical love.
