A day of mixed emotions. Shire's last-ever game at Firs Park. On the morning of the match the team knew they needed to win and hope that Forfar Athletic lost to avoid finishing bottom of the league for a sixth successive year. There was sadness at leaving the old ground but delight at the way the match turned out.

Maybe a 'Shire fan can help: When did that tall wall go up behind one of the goals? I went to a game at Firs Park in the early 70s, and I don't think that wall was there, just terracing.

I'd guess around 1989 as that terrace was demolished to make way for an access road to the new retail park adjacent. Probably spelled the beginning of the end of the ground when that happened, which is sadly no longer there at all other than a few piles of rubble.
As a Falkirk fan, now the Shire are based at TFS hopefully then can start recovering after a turbulent last 15 years or so
