Dwight Yoakam and Faron Young are some of my favorites to listen to. But no one can hold a candle to Dwight Yoakam. The dude is phenomenal and country music has robbed him of countless number one hits. He sold millions and millions of records and had multipul back to back platinum albums but he only had two #1 hits. That's ridiculous

Many, many moons ago, I drove to San Fran listening to AM radio (that's all the truck had) after the trade show I bought myself a cassette player and Dwight Yoakam Cassette and listened to that for 5 days driving home. I really do love his voice and Music.

I just love to WATCH Dwight singing...I know he's talented but he really shows how much he enjoys singing when he grinds his heel back & forth..& sometimes he does a backwards kick!! He's definitely different from all the rest!!! I've seen him live only once a couple yrs. ago...maybe in 2017...he was older but it still was a great show!!!

Hello Walls is a great song that anyone can relate to. I love Dwight's version!
My mom passed away a year ago. She had a hard time passing over - hated going new places by herself. The morning when she finally made it an aide in her seniors' home played this song for her. My mother and father always liked Willie. I sobbed through the entire song and the gentleman trying to help my Mom hasn't been able to sing it since BUT it worked and she was able to make the crossing. Can't listen to this song without remembering. I love Dwight and always will but it's Willie who makes me cry.

Dwight cut hi teeth on Merle Haggard, Willie,Faron, Buck, Roger Miller, etc, just like most of us younger singers and wannabes. He loved them and I have seen him be called out on stage to sing with the likes of Merle,George, of course Buck and many more. It was easy to see he admired them, but they admired him just as much. I think because he was no cookie cutter, fit me in a box Nashville suck-up. It took many years for Nashville to accept him (if they ever have), and he had to hoof it out to Bakersfield,Ca and try coming that route after many rejections when he first came to Nashville from what was really a place rooted in country music. He was far better than Garth Brooks and the likes, but Nashville just wasn’t ready for such a multi talented Gem like him........ I think they were scared of him.....or blind and deaf. I guess he set the bar too high for anyone else who might happen by! So, he did a smart thing and went to Bakersfield,Ca. Played the bars, got a role in a few plays and kept that skill honed ( he loved acting ), and was thrilled when Billy Bob Thornton gave him a role in ( Sling blade ). He is very smart and thought that would be something to fall back on. He knows more about the old timers of country, Bluegrass, Blues and many more genres many people have never heard of! I could listen to him talk fo hours as well as sing! He is Tops!

oh i bet you think someone thinks you know what you are talking about, so explain to us non music experts what the fuck you are talking about, each person that records or sings a tune/song has his own way of projecting, i'm assuming you are a fan of the crap put out today claiming to be music, the canned crap, mixed and cleaned up, made to clean up all the sounds and crackles and background sounds and sold to morons. willie is and was always an outlaw, his sound has always been different, same with waylon, and the others, none of us have time for me to spend a week typing the names of singers you probably never heard of the most of us fans of country could tell from the first sound out of their mouth who they were, because they were different and distinct, when lefty burst out in song he barely needed a sound system, i've never heard dwight sing the same song the same way twice, if you truly wanted to hear great country you could look up some of the videos on youtube of programs like the old ranch party and others like it, the performers sang live on stage and they were recorded for tv, long before we had technology to make shit singers sound decent. you just might become a fan of actual real sounds that come from the artists mouth and instrument
