- I know this has been requested a few times in the past, but I have finally got around to it.
Here is a tour of the Northampton Extension N Gauge layout based on the GCR/LNER between 1920 and 1948.
Like the two sets of grass and background all merging to give depth to the viewer...
Lovely layout well done
Wow this is a great video to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Well thank you so much for showing us the layout and I am mightily impressed by the way you have developed it and presented it all. Thank you for the description of each section and I can only congratulate you on a wonderful layout.
Regards
Steve
You're very welcome!
Beautiful layout you have there, very smooth running and most enjoyable layout tour.
Hi Mongrel (no disrespect intended). It's so refreshing to see a steam-only layout! Thanks for a great tour.
I do have 2 diesels on this layout, but one is a shunter, really I allow friends who model later time periods to bring theirs when they visit to run trains, so they do feature, as seen in the 'DCC Sound fitted visitors' video.
wow what a great layout!
Thank you kindly.
GCR Whetstone was my local station
Fantastic layout! What are the dimensions of it, if you don't mind me asking? Plotting a n gauge layout myself
Ah, that's simply wonderful. One question - how do you get from the fiddle yard underneath to the scenic layout? Do you use a helix or is there a ramp of some sort under the board? Thanks.
The tunnel from the storage yard to the Helmdon is pretty much straight with a slight curve at one end and more or less level track, i'm currently working on a 'drivers eye' view of a round trip up and down the layout, once this is uploaded you'll see what it's like.
@@PedanticmongrelsRailwayChannel Great, will look forward to that. Subbed.
This just popped up in my feed and Wow! what a stunning layout. Visually stunning, operationally brilliant. How long did that take you?
You got your self a subscriber. Cheers Fastpud
It was started in summer 2018 and reached it's present form early 2020.
2:48 Emily Howard and her friend Florence are waiting for a train...
The tunnel to Culworth, where does that lead or is it just to hide the end of the line?
That represents the line going north to Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Manchester.
@@PedanticmongrelsRailwayChannel thanks for the clarification. You’ve got such an interesting and unique layout I love it!
@@PedanticmongrelsRailwayChannel Does it loop around out of sight and come back or does it just dead end in the tunnel?
Great layout, only thing that lets it down if you dont mind me criticising is the trees.
Interesting point, it's something I may consider upgrading at some point. Any particular brand/type you'd recommend using?
@@PedanticmongrelsRailwayChannel im having a go at the woodland scenics realistic tree kit 21 deciduous.
@@PedanticmongrelsRailwayChannel Make your own! Treemendous (yes, that is their real company name) do a kit with all you need for about £20. It's brilliant, very easy to make unique trees of all sizes, and a lot of fun.
What about the LNWR?
The LNWR had a monopoly of Northampton traffic, in this reality the GCR and GNR wanted to do something about that.
Great video, thanks for sharing!!! Wow, you need to research Promo-SM!
