- Welcome to trains at Moss Vale, about 130kms from Sydney! In this episode we'll take a look around a very wet southern highlands day! With a variety of trains from passenger, to an array of different freight trains!
Don't forget to leave a comment with some feedback and of course subscribe if you haven't already and I'll be back next month with more model railway news.

As a network controller - nothing is worst than having points fail at Moss Vale, especially when you have the XPT and an 1000m+ freight train with no down refuge.
Love Main South A.
I can only imagine the nightmare that would be!
Will, thank you again for another great video of trains in the Southern Highlands. As you said a very scenic part of NSW, and as a bonus has lots of trains.
The video was, as usual, of a very high standard, and you certainly captured lots of interesting trains. It is a pity the weather did not co-operate for you.
Thank you for sharing, and stay safe, Michael
Exeter and that line is a good spot for what you do,
Thanks!
A very enjoyable video , Will. It's a beautiful and interesting part of Australia and I liked the brief history at the start. It felt like a documentary which I would happily sit through for a much longer video ! Love the drone shots as always. They really give a great view of areas such as the cement works that shots from the ground cannot convey.
Thank you Tony! I person love making these video! Nothing like getting out and seeing some trains!
Mate, regardless of the conditions that was, for me, the best ever! I had such a significant part of my life there, I can't do justice to express it. I do like all the your work but this ... This was really special for me. Thank you.
Soooo much.
Really glad you enjoyed it Adam!
11:06 ah yes the "heavy loaded 81 class"
Superb footage
Thank you!
THANK YOU FOR VIDEO
GREAT WATCHING
Thanks Robert
It’s lovely to see the rain, it makes everything look nice and green
Although it’s nice! Not always the best for chasing trains in haha
heavily loaded 81class 😂
Really nice work in the rain there.
The reason why you see so many aggregate trains there is because the Greater Sydney area lies entirely on sandstone and has to import all its aggregate. There is a former quarry railside at Bombo (Kiama) that used to supply aggregate to Sydney; Marulan has now taken up that role.
Thank you very much for that information!
Great stuff. Documenting the daily goings on in the southern highlands. Love the old stations and surrounding buildings. 😊
Thank you Pauline! A great part of Australia to see some trains!
Thanks Will. To me riding on a train through the rain is relaxing. Keep on spotting.
Thanks for that Tony!
You picked a very beautiful but wet part of the world! I liked the spot of humour too (heavily laden) very good!
Well done Will
Thanks Ken!
Some nice locations in that area, do like Exeter Station how it a good spot on the curve, Bundanoon could easy mistake that for a GWR pregrouping Station but another nice looking Station.
It’s a really beautiful area that’s for sure!
Thanks Will always look forward to you videos
Thanks Jim!
Plenty of trains and a fair bit to look at along the way! Shame about the rain, but it seems like you still enjoyed yourself. Had similar issues with the weather last year when I planned to visit. Oh well, will have to get there one day.
Thanks for sharing!

The 8235 is a good looking machine, super video as always
They certainly are!
Nice video Will. Even with the poor weather you still got some good shots of the trains going through the area. I also liked the bit of history at the start of the video. - Nicholas.
Thanks Nicholas!
thank you Will we really enjoyed this and hope you will be back for more. As others have said we could have watched even more. There is a lot of history around there especially for me around Bundanoon. You could do documentary's on many places but that takes more time. Keep up the great work.
Bundanoon has a model train club in old goods shed open on Sundays
Ah no way! I'll keep that in mind if im ever up there on a Sunday!
Hope you enjoyed visiting our area, we have a local great train museum in next lot of towns over and the 3801 tested along the tracks
Always do! I went to the museum in 2020! Hopefully I’ll come back again when there is an event on!
@@WillJamesRailways it’s a great museum, I remember getting to explore around it once at night as part of the local tourism industry. They normally have the festival of steam mid May each year and this time a Victorian steam train visited
Nice work again.......poor 81 class!!!!!!🤘🤣
Thanks Joseph!
Pity about the weather, Will, but great video anyway. The Short South between Mittagong and Bundanoon was a favourite haunt of mine over 30 years ago as I was friends with a Signaller in that area who has now moved on.
Back then Double Line Block Telegraph working was in force over parts of the line and I have had the privilege of working Exeter Box (under supervision, of course, as the rules up there are a bit different to down in Victoria). In fact I was in Exeter Box at the time of the Newcastle earthquake and when communicating with the adjacent signalboxes, the poor bloke at Moss Vale was beside himself and thought the box was going to collapse under him.
I can recommend staying at the Bundanoon Hotel (if they still take accom. bookings) for a bit of olde world charm as well as being close to the rail action.
Ooroo for now!🙂
Great video, Will. Shame about the rain. Exeter is a unique station, cool on a hot day, and nice grass to relax on inbetween trains , and the nearby cafe is great. I found out the station masters former house is a b&b now.
AND, it was great meeting you at Seymour Heritage Depot on Saturday . 😊
Keep up the excellent work, Will.
Still think you should be doing radio tv commercial voiceover work.
Thank you Bill! Likewise, thank you for saying hello!
Thanks Will for another entertaining Video😀👍
Thank you Dennis!
I like the Australian trains 👍🏻 Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
Thank you for checking out the video! That’s excellent to hear!
Thank you for brilliant video Will James

Just the important stuff!
I love your video nsw ❤❤
Thanks Max
Great vid mate
Thank you!
Incredible
I hear your going to the Albury exhibition, and I might be there all weekend
Great video! Have you been to Seymour loop? I unintentionally found r707 there over the weekend! I also can’t find Railfirst or SSR timetables on the artc website, where would I find them?
Many times, I was in Seymour for the open day on the weekend just gone.
You can find out about special trips by simply checking the operators websites.
You probably won’t. You’d be better off joining a tracking group on FB
Omya doesnt process trains anymore. The yard is just known as Berrima Junction.
Thank you for that Shannon!
yea i just up loaded a good quality video
Keep practicing!
I’m confused, how are there comments from a couple weeks ago?

Videos come out weekly on CZcams, but they're banked up on Pateron.
How do you have a schedule of freight trains. I would love to have that so I can do some train spotting
It’s on the ARTC master plan! Also there are Facebook groups!
how do u add a tralier
I’m not CZcams support… you could just google that.
and how do you track train do u have any websites
It’s on the ARTC website and Facebook groups!
at 3:05+ why is the locomotive swinging? or is that just an illusion on my part?
Bad track Id say!
Yeah that spot has caused abit of freight derailment in the last few years, the local track is getting work most weekends
