I am looking at purchasing a Van to build out. I understand that the engines in the older sprinter models from 2004 to 2006 are phenomenal and can getup to 500,000 miles on them easily with regular maintenance. How do the engines on the newer sprinter models hold out? Are they as reliable?
Mark Stallbaumer i had a 2004 sprinter inline 5 cilinder and it was great i put in 180000 miles and it was running great
The new v6 i haven't had that many miles in to it yet but the 2004 to 2006 engines are more eazy to maintain
I'm in the process of buying my 1st Sprinter van. What model/year would you recommend fuel economy, etc?
John Moore V well Jonh now there is only one option for new ones the 3.0 liter v6
But use ones 2014 to 2016 mercedes made 4 cilinder and i herd that for 2018 they may make an electric one wich im not a fan of

Hello and thanks for your diy videos. I didn't see batteries covered anywhere on your channel so I'll ask about it here. We just bought a 2017 Winnebago View on a 2016 Mercedes chassis with a 3.0L. The battery won't stay charged more than a day. How difficult is it to get to the battery itself to take it out and have it tested? How would you test for parasitic draw? I know this is a lot but figured I had to ask and appreciate your videos. This is my first diesel and I just love the sound of it.
winebox congrats on your new diesel van and thank you for watching my channel but I do not use battery Bank on my van I usually keep my band running when I need power and when I go camping I'll use land power or a generator but I do not carry batteries for a battery Bank on my van
There are "house batteries" that stay charged from solar and we usually use shore power. It's just that the Sprinter battery itself doesn't seem to hold onto it's charge when it's parked.
winebox that sounds like there's something running in the background taking the charge of your battery I recommend you to search all your 12 volt draw and see if something is taking your battery power that's the only thing I can think of

How is the van doing? Or did you sell it? I had a 2008 2.1 316 but I wrecked it after 4 days😳 It was rust free, and had only 232.000km on it, so I ended up buying another 2008 but with a 3.0 V6 with almost 300.000km on it, but alot of rust.. But since have a parts car, I just switch what ever I need over.. But I would like to know how you're van is doing, if you still have it that is🤷♂️
awesome , and i sold the 2.1L and just have the 3.0L and is a lot better for towing but a little more fuel but is ok , hope your 2008 sprinter give you great service👍👌
Hi, I've just bought a Sprinter 07 ambulance to convert to a campervan and I can't find a manual, Haynes ones stop at 06 and start again in 09, on mine the starter battery is in the back and having just watched your video it looks like yours is too, is your starter battery in the back?
My battery is in front of the driver seat on the floor panel

I won a 2008 sprinter van dodge on a auction and the police or whoever cut the computer out and reservoir, and several other things I can’t even start it so im trying to get the change to go to a dealership and take photos.

I hope merc fixes the rust issue in the very latest model one stone chip and after a short time rust appears I Se 2 year old sprinters full of rust this has to be a serious issue

@@nialltd im in Florida , my 2017 sprinter is not rusted but my 2006 sprintes was terrible on rust
Mercedes Sprinter DIY hi it’s our wet climate and there tends to be a lot of stone chipping that damage the front and sides of the large panel vans , all Diesel engines here , this time last year the price of diesel was €1.45 a litre and that’s in euro money , all taxes over here , we get taxed to the hilt here friend
