- Come party like it is 1990 with the Westchester Amiga User Group at the 2019 WAUG retro games games house party! We have been doing this party every year since 1990. It used to be called a "Games SIG" SIG = Special Interest Group. Westchester Amiga User Group meets on the first Thursday of the month for a general meeting, then we would have these "SIGs" throughout the month. We had separate SIG meetings for various topics like music, graphics/video, desktop publishing, programming, and of course - GAMES!
At this year's party, we had two Amiga 500's connected via a null modem cable playing head to head games including Lotus Turbo Challenge 2, An Amiga 1000 with various games including Marble Madness, Vampire V4 standalone, CD32 , Atari 800, Atari 800 XL with SDriveMAX, Commodore 64c with SD2IEC and Fast Load cartridge from www.thefuturewas8bit.com , Amiga 500 with Vampire v2, Amiga 1200 with various games, a maxed out ColecoVision, a 16mm projector from amigavideo.net , and a modified mini arcade machine from Glen's Retro show. / gplanamento

I put video up on TV for my kids and they watched for a little then where like WHAT how, that's you Dad!.. Haha they couldn't figure out how I was in video... Gotta get back Bill... That time machine basement was the best..
Ha ha, that's awesome! You are a super cool dad. Can't wait for the next one Mike!
Such a warm friendship has not happened in any computer age. This only exists in Amiga people. I've never seen these friends before, but it's like I've known them for years.
This is why we still love our Amigas and other classic computers. It’s about the friendships. Thanks for sharing the great day with all of us!
Exactly Golan! I get really excited every time I turn on my Amiga, but the best part about it is hanging out with my friends and meeting new friends through Amiga
Sometimes, I wish I could go back in time. Today, you gave me a time machine!
Aw thank you. This is the exact reason for these parties and video
Great atmosphere and mood.
Be well my friend.
Cheers Vincent!
Good friends and Amigas.
Recipe for bliss.
Well said Alex, well said!
The old and new footage really shows the friendship and passion you guys share. And after all those years still in the basement. Kudos!
Thanks for the kind words bud. We are lucky to be part of this special group
You guys make me feel SO old. (I turn 50 in February). Seeing an Epyx 500XJ Joystick with pristine Amigas all humming along makes me regret not taking better care of my old equipment. But then like most people I had to sell most of my Commodore gear in my 20's for better computers :( Good times!
Not gonna lie, I have been feeling quite old myself! I am lucky to have so many pristine machines. Some are my originals and some are ones that I acquired and were a bit banged up that I restored a bit. I totally understand your situation. You had to do what you had to do. Many folks are in the same boat. And who even imagined it would be popular again in 2019???
Excellent! I enjoyed how you included that old footage too. Very fun to see everyone!
Thanks Doug. Anthony and I have been making Amiga videos way before CZcams WAY before, LOL. I think I will make a few videos from the vintage footage only
So honored to be with such great friends.. Man that was a good time.. Totally worth 6hr drive!.. You rock on Bill!
MIKE!!! Honored that you made the 6 hour drive. So happy it was worth it for you. Thanks for bringing your Amigas and positive vibes. Rock ON!!!
Greetings from a Hungarian Amiga owner and fan!✌️Amiga forever!
Such a great party. Thanks for hosting! Nolan, Heather and I had a great time.
Cheers Pete. It was great having you all. And thanks as always for the pretzels and the Lynx. "Pretzel Guy" is AmigaDad approved ;-)
Wow! Great to be with friends, remembering good old times.
Truth!
Awesome guys, looks like a great get-together of passionate Amiga users.
Thanks Adrian! It is a really fun party with great people and awesome Amiga vibes!
As a kid, I so wanted an Amiga 1000, but I was stuck with an Apple llc. It was so far ahead of its time. Followed Amiga news in periodicals such as Byte, Compute, & Amiga World.
I swear the intro gets me every time!
Aw, thanks. I appreciate that. I was thinking about giving it a facelift. We'll see.
I remember that MOD. :)
Ah yes, Marble Madness and two Amigas linked to play Lotus. Good old times 😀
Yes! It was the best day of the year l. So fun!
@@NB-1 The great thing about linking Stuntcar was it loaded the entire game into memory so you could just take out your disk and load it on the other Amiga without needing two disk to play.
Wow, Mattel Intellivision in those old clips (1:32). And with a joystick -mod! 😎 I still have my Intellivision packed away in the garage.
Damn, these old guys are the same age as me, I was born in 1975....hmm I guess I´m old too....daaaang!
You are only as old as you feel...wait...UGH...ha ha!
Lotus Esprit dual header, oh memories I did this on my A500 and A1500 back to back. Great times.
NICE! That was Amiga gaming nirvana for me. Love the games that could be played over a null modem cable.
Oh yes, jumping right into it with the Lotus II soundtrack. Very nice party and good looking computers. :)
Thanks DerMartexus! I was debating if I should add music to my little intro because it is so short, so this feedback is great to hear. Glad it works for you! Yeah, we are lucky to have some many beautiful machines all working and together in one place
@@TheGuruMeditation To me, it looks like the perfect Christmas party. :)
@@DerMartexus Yes!
Ahhh.... You needed to have Lotus in multiplayer, between an Amiga500 and an AtariST. That is like two old former enemy's playing together. :-D
that would be fun!
Cool video. As I remember about the origin of the guru meditation error was that it came from a game that the guys at Amiga, Inc. had developed for the Joyboard. They would play it during their work breaks, or during long compile sessions. The whole point of the game was to sit perfectly still on the Joyboard in the lotus position (like when meditating). If you did not sit still, that was a "guru meditation error." You got a higher score if you could sit still the longest on it, something like that.
They thought the message "Guru meditation error" was a good message for when the Amiga system crashed.
Love looking at the old footage. You should upload some of it even just for preservation. Great vid as always.
That is a good idea. I was planning on also uploading some footage from The Trenton Computer Festival and Philly classic that I have.
Thanks for that video. Could bring back some memories of my Amiga time. Wish I could do also some retro partys with my old friend, but they don't care for the old games anymore.
Glad you enjoyed! I bet your friends would like firing up some classic games
Incredible party incredible place.
Thanks Alexander. Hopefully one day you can come to a party. It would be so awesome to have you
Nice friendly atmosphere. Perfect for the Amiga. Just missing the stack of empty pizza boxes and cans of cherry coke
ha ha, we did have those, but i didn't put them in the video. We did an awesome midnight pizza run
Two of my favorite games for Amiga also, Marble Madness and Apydia, the music of Apydia is awesome even today.
2 of my favorites as well. Have you heard the VolkarX remix of Apydia? It is incredible
@@TheGuruMeditation I wil check it out, thanks Bill.
@@maxsmarts8210 oh I found it for you. Turn it up! czcams.com/video/G1jLowinaFY/video.html
The true birth of hacking came from the 800xl . Without that machine , I wouldnt be hacking the planet today. 8.)~ such an amazing computer. Would LOVE to find one today.
Nice! The 800 rules
Great video and great atmosphere ! Was part of a dos & amiga computer club back in the day and you just don’t get to see lots of Amiga’s and different people using them in one place anymore .... we still get together once a month but has become more of a social thing without the dos & amiga :)
Very cool! Where is your club located?
Fantastic. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Cheers! It is my pleasure
1:41 what a beauty :D
Great passion mate and great friends you’ve got. 👍
Thanks Dale! They are a great group of people. I am very lucky!
Only Amiga makes it possible!
oh yeah!
Loved it! Thank you very much!
Cheers SledgeFox ! Glad you enjoyed it !
Wonderful video guys.
Thanks so much Stuart!
Great stuff! Great video, and amazing friendly atmosphere.. Makes me remember when my brother and I used to invite our friends to play with on our 1MB A500; we played, Twintris, Lemmings, Lemmings 2, Turrican 2, amongst other games... It is fantastic to see Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 networked using a null modem cable; we didn't do that because... We just had only one Amiga! Great memories! And the 1990s video footage is awesome! Thanks for sharing, and take care. :)
Thanks for the kind comment Carlos! Yes, we are a friendly bunch. Amiga users are the best! Glad it brought back some nice memories of you and your brother. I think I should make a full video with just the 1990's footage
Here Italy, congratulations for this channel and your passion !!! Eh eh..... i look the game "Lotus Turbo challenge2 ! Mith videogame. I have this game and one AMIGA 500 Kickstart 1.3 and 1mb of memory. I like the old games 16 bit.
Great episode! I need to get in that basement one day soon!
It would be so awesome to have you guys here!
wish i was there my friend. Awesome atmosphere.
Cheers DJ Nest. I wish you were here too. It would be the best party yet. You never know, it could happen!
It's nice to keep the tradition for so long.
Thanks. I agree. It is interesting to look back and remember some folks who used to come, but have faded out of the scene while others have been coming to the party while other have been coming for almost 30 years now. Holy crap, 30 years. Also great to have new folks coming like Mike who drove 6 hours to attend!
@@TheGuruMeditation I think I grew up in the wrong place. In the 90s, in TX, I did not know anyone who had Amiga or Commodore, or liked Techno/Electronic music. So, I don't have any memories or friends like that. Any time I mention Amiga, they like "What is that?" Thank goodness for Internet!
@@dvuemedia It is funny. Amiag was't that popur here compared to PC and Mac, but it was popular enough to have multiple user groups and a couple of dedicated stores, so I do feel lucky to have grown up in the NYC area
Such a nice video to watch. Good work!
Thanks Jo Bo. I really appreciate that kind comment. Glad you enjoyed!
Love it :)
Very cool stuff!
Thanks Shaolin95!
Looks like heaps of fun!
It was a great day!
Great review Bill! Loved that archive footage :)
Thanks Vickie! Folks are responding really positively to that footage and I have a lot of it. I think some vintage videos are in order!
Very Cool
Thanks!
Looked like a great time. Sorry I couldn't attend this time around. Maybe next year. You guys are the best!!
You are the best Joe Skee Rock! No worries, catch you on the next one!
𝑨𝑴𝑰𝑮𝑨𝑨𝑨𝑨𝑨𝑨𝑨𝑨𝑨 house party!
WHOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Very nice video thanks
So nice of you, thanks!
So cool!
Cheers Hugo!
@@TheGuruMeditation you guys are awesome. Keep up the good work. Long live the Amiga!
Good times! 2020 should be the year I finally do the same for Atlanta-area peeps... and Pittsburgh can make the drive but I won't have the sweet retro basement goodness. 😛
Awesome Andy! I hear lots if chatter aboit something bug brewing in ATL for the spring. We will see. If it comes together I will try to make the trip down
A fun time was had by all!
Sure was. And thanks for bringing the awesome Vampire V4 stand alone!
I wish I was there, no bullshiting, really.
Dude, it would be an honor to have you. I can't wait to see you again Kokos!
Bill with hair! 🙂
Ha ha! You noticed. Awesome! Looks like I didn't use a hair brush back then either, LOL
Great nostalgie party. In czech republic, we have party every year with name RESET. First RESET party was in 1990. First year in freedom after komunism end
Oh very cool! I would love to come to your party. Great job keeping the retro alive!
♥️♥️♥️
AmigaLove!
Bought Lotus II on the day of release. £25.00 for a single floppy if I remember correctly. It was a long time ago...
Oh very nice! The game is still super fun to play today. A true classic!
I could only really have been Beyond Music, by Captain. hehe
Yep! Best MOD ever? Quite possibly
Are you planning another livestream from the amiga house party? Would be awesome.
Yes, absolutely. This spring!
Have you guys been keeping track of what The 8-Bit Guy's team is doing with their "dream computer" project? They're making a NEW 8/16 bit system with retro capabilities that should be largely C64 compatible when complete. It's shaping up to be really cool! They already have code running on their prototype. Here's more info on that:
Part One: (February 2019): czcams.com/video/ayh0qebfD2g/video.html
Part Two: (September 2019): czcams.com/video/sg-6Cjzzg8s/video.html
Nice! I was at NEON fest with him and saw a build of his game, but don't know much about this project. I will check it out, thanks JW3HH!
@@TheGuruMeditation I think this could prove to be very popular among retro computing fans, especially ones who are a bit burned out on modern first person shooters. It's going to come with a spiral-bound User's Guide! Remember those?
@@JustWasted3HoursHere Nice! I sure do remember them - I still have them!
The Atari 800 was 1979, no ‘80...
how can i buy a drive max amiga ?
I am asking my friend Bill Lange who built it for me. Stand by...
