NFR 1990: Tuff Hedeman's Infamous Hang-up
Vložit
- čas přidán 20. 07. 2022
- The 4-time World Champion bull rider Richard "Tuff" Hedeman gets his hand folded upside down and his arm twisted 180 degrees, which forces probably the longest drag in NFR history next to Harry Vold's Copenhagen Stinger during Round 7 of the 1990 National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, NV. Tuff did a complete 360 degree spin with his hand in the rope when the bull made one of his revolutions. That's why the guys were having such a difficult time getting his hand out of there. It was about the equivalent to being welded in there.

No safety vest, no helmet, no face shield, never lost his hat.
He did get his face caved in by Bodacious though!
Yeah most people started to wear face shields because of bodacious.
Lol you're right I didn't notice he never lost his hat. Hanging in there like Julian's drink on TPB lol.
Some say it was fixed on the head with a big nail.
Helmets & shields didn't stop Bodacious from crushing faces which is ultimately why Andrews retired him@@charliegordon2266
The effort to save Tuff's life was amazing
Dude no shit right😂
Shows you the charter of those who are involved in this sport
@@BigRed2You mean the character?
@@damachine3 Lol oops! yup
at 0:43 watch that bull put his head into the guy on the ground. Owww! Wonder no one has broken ribs over that. Anyone who's ever been kicked by a cow will find this video pretty scary.
This is remarkable!!! These guys didn't hesitate for a split second to get down there and do anything and everything to get that rider free!! I am blown away by this video!!!
Awesome, teamwork and the bull settling down was a miracle.
The Good Lord was in on that deal too.
Bull knew the ride was done
Bull got tired.
The bull fighters are something else they've got a lot of courage
They are bull riders not fighters there is a difference
Bullfighting are pussies the riders have the real balls
@@lilricks2917 The "clowns" aren't just there for entertainment. That's who Brian was talking about.
Those bullfighters have balls of steel as well as the bull riders😂
Dude this was amazing!!
Makes you cheer for the rodeo clowns and ring workers. They showed heroic courage that showed more concern for Tuff's life than their own.
Most badass period of bull riders, ever. Tuff inspired a generation to follow. Never to match.
I couldn’t agree with you any more! I’m telling you what!
Looks like a bunch of gay boys dressed like woody from toy story. Pretty bad ass.
He was better at inspiring people from afar. Biggest jerk I ever met in rodeo. By far. And I didn't meet him once. I had many encounters and he was always over-the-top arrogant.
@@trumptheworstpresidentever4881 You see what you want to see, apparently.
@@trumptheworstpresidentever4881 estupido
Now THAT was a suicide wrap for the record books.
You wanna talk about Athletes,,, Look at all these ATHLETES doing their job! From the rider to the ones trying to get him off that bull!! This is one of the most amazing videos EVER!,, I love football,, basketball and all other sports but come on folks, this has got to be the TOPS for performances of ANY kind of sport or athletes!
Total respect for everyone in the ring!
Looks like they piled on the bull until he thought ‘ this is getting to be to much work ‘ all these rodeo men got more balls than Wilson .
Who’s Wilson?
@@troy.d The company that makes volleyballs
You know for sure the entire time tuff was thinking .. lane !!! I’m coming to join you !!!
Greg rumor goes rite to the head to slow the bull down .steel balls man
Bet he can unbuckle his left boot spur without bending over for awhile. His left arm has to be a 3 foot longer than the other one now lol. Good job fellas!
Hahaha!
Now that embodies what a cowboy is.
This deserves a 30 for 30
Dude the one where he broke his face on Bodacious was way worse than this. That one should have its own doc as well.
Where real men come to play.Brave men jump in to help when others run !
Rodeo clowns are so under valued.
50 years ago when I was 18 a friend of mine and his 2 buddies decided to jump 2 clowns who were walking up between the trucks . Clowns beat the living shit out of the three dudes that had their bellies full of Tennessee whiskey .
They really not clowns but bull fighters. They are fit mentally and physically.Dont pick a fight with them. You will lose.
@@gilbertb8078 I graduated high school with a guy who was turned down for military duty due to a football knew injury. Well anyway he ended up being a professional bull rider and made front page news for being so successful. He told me that many times the clowns were bull riders who had already ridden or their time was coming up for the event.he said that he would clown for his buddies and they would clown for him . So quite possibly the three drunken boys picked a fight with bull riders .
indeed!@@gilbertb8078
No they’re not. But that’s the stupid kind of statement someone would make who is totally removed from this industry.
Wow. I’m not well-versed as a rodeo fan, but am I glad this popped up as recommended.
That was crazy exhilarating just to watch, and that everyone-Tuff and Bull included-came out well and I injured…wow. Just, Wow! Thanks for the upload!
There IS A HOLE LOT OF BAD ASS MEN IN THAT ARENA when that went Down
Real gangsters!
@@alonzogosbee6531 I miss My Years of being in the Arena and Part of that World,,, You put it together better then I did
Did he keep his hat on the whole time? That’s a cowboy!
He did have the cowboy hat on the whole time..😂
I cried when I watched this. 🥺 I just watched it again 🥺 not because I thought Tuff would be killed, it's because Bull Riding is sport of brotherhood & I'm damn proud of them. 🤠❤️ I applaud Rob for everything & every beating he took. Thank God for Bull Fighters and Brothers. 🤠❤️
Hahha. What a joke.
@@danielrussell1594I see her on every freaking bull riding video on here istg lol. She’s a buckle bunny
Yeah, they take an animal--never ridden in any kind of ranch work, put a cinch on their balls so they "have spirit" and we ride them like the crazy people we are. Really stupid, rally cruel. Yeah, I see Tough is brave--and IS tough, but there are better ways to prove ranch work--horse riding, roping, etc, real ranch work, not this man created hog wash.
What is it with people like you who make this comment ?
Do you burst into tears every time you watch a 2 minute video ?
Just how do you go about your day ??
WHAAAA.... BOOO HOOOO
It's almost as if bulls weren't designed to be ridden lol.
Bulls aren't horses.
He earned his name Tuff and those clowns deserve a lot of credit sacrificing themselves like that!
I think it was Tuff's gargantuan balls that eventually slowed the bull down.
Oh man, that just takes my breath away. Tuff was so lucky with that rescue!
Massive respect to all those helping!
That's sum Real Cowboy shit right there boys. Awesome job
True Tuff and pure BROTHERHOOD 🤙🏻❤️💪🤠 Tuff would've done the same thing for someone else. He still walked away. I think I read with every spin his arm spinned a whole 360! Man , just sends shivers down your spine. Seeing all these men helping out is the definition of a Cowboy ❤️🤠 Rob Smets still standing with a broken neck. Man I love RODEO AND TOUGH TRUE BLUE COWBOYS. !!!!!!Just credible!!
I heard his arm dislocated 17 times and never got a scratch.
Simply stunning event . Those dudes are badasses !
I remember vividly when this happened. 1990 NFR Round 6 or 7 if I’m not mistaken as Tuff would come back and win round 8. An interesting fact about that bull Copenhagen Stinger: The bull never bucked again after that happened and would end up being retired after the NFR.
Bull prolly had ptsd after this incident
I met rodeo bulls that ain't mean. Imagine ole stinger lost the stomach for it after something like this.
He wasn't bucking real hard on this trip. After Oscar got rode a few times I seen a permit holder ride him at Fort Smith and barely placed.
@@societyisboring IKR... "Doc... I keep having nightmares about clowns surrounding me."
That incident broke him.
My shoulder popped out of place from watching this
Omg I forgot all about that!! I remember watching this as a teenager...
This is the era of bull riding I loved...the clowns/bull fighters were so hands on and fearless when a rider got hung up...I remember my parents watching this regularly when I was a kid
That bull calmed so fast, could name 5 bulls that wouldve turned him into a pretzel and the rest of the guys, lucky as all hell
🧢 off to all that help 🙌🙏🤙🏾🤙🏾
Tuff Hedeman was a buddy of Lane Frost. I really like the movie "8 SECONDS" about Lane. If you do not believe Bodacious was most dangerous bull ever just ask Tuff. He smashed Tuff's face when he was riding him requiring lots of surgeries. He drew him a little while later during a rodeo and he turned him out. When the gate opened Tuff just reached up and grabbed the shute and let Bodacious go without a rider. Bodacious was retired early because his owner said he was to dangerous for anyone to ride. I like Mike White who was a world champion and lives in East Texas. My daughter-in-law and husband live there and know him.
I was watching the night that Tuff got his face smashed by Bodacious. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The fact that he walked out of the arena rather than be carried out, shows how tough Tuff truly is.
@@lacymarie78 He was a tough one for sure!
They shouldn't have got that ass simpleton steven Baldwin to play him though
You missed the part where, when Tuff let Bo go out by himself, Tuff removed his hat as a sign of respect.
@@biglaverstyle You are correct!
MAN THEM BULLFIGHTERS ARE SOMETHING TO SEE !!!
Those first two clowns/bullfighters are hero’s!!
So I wake up on Saturday morning and see this first thing in the morning on CZcams. Wow! What a thing to wake up too much respect everybody out there
Dude grabbed the bull by the horns! Hats off to those bull fighters!
Only because the bull got tired and let him LOL. It ran off immediately after - "I'm done with show biz!"
That was the bravest thing I ever saw. Especially the clowns. You guys are badass!
Thank God for those badass bullfighters
That was awesome. Props to the bull as well!
No vest, no helmet. Those were some tuff cowboys back in the day
That was A REQUIREMENT IN PRCA
TO BE AUTHENTIC
Yeah..... gotta be tough when you're dumb and we were all tough as hell. Looking back though, if the bull riders had started wearing vests a few years earlier we might have seen how far Lane could really go.

Watching this in 2024 ❤ and he was a badass wish i Watched him during that era.
Amazing efforts by all. Heros!
Those are MEN! Balls of steel and fearless when it comes to saving a life!
That’s the most bizarre, exciting and frightening thing (for the rider) I have ever seen, like I’ve said before, these cowboys are all muscle and grit, can’t imagine enjoying this what’s more making a living at it !!!
Incredible effort by all. That was crazy!
It's a miracle that nobody got killed and I ain't kidding either.
The effort from those men was exceptional. Brave competent good men they performed a miracle here.
And never lost his hat! Now that’s tuff!!
Pure commitment.
That was the most badass thing ever
Jeezus! No body armour either! The whole video gave me goosebumps.
What a good boy that bull was. Smart enough to realize an out-of-the-ordinary situation. He could have cleaned everybody’s clocks in a minute, but nope, everyone lived to fight another day.
Once they took that back rope off he was fine.
Those clowns… damn! Rock stars, right there!!
They didn't clown around!!! Got the job done!!!!
These bull-fighters and staff were awesome here
For a moment I thought ever man in the arena was gonna jump in to help!
Damn fine job gentleman, I would have been 5 when this happened. They don't make us like the older fellas in the 90s anymore.
With out the vest, helmet, face shield, back in the day. Wow.
Back when men were men and everyone knew what a woman is!
That was some damn fine clowning around
Those are true friends.
If it dont have handle bars and a throttle I dont want no part of it!
These men weren't confused which bathroom they needed to use.
Yep, the disabled one.
That’s a badass dude, fuckin savage
Well done bull!!!
They don't call him tuff for nothing
The straight up Helicoptering had me rolling 😂😅😂😅😂
doggypile on, that actually seemed to help
actually incredible..like if a guy told a tall tale about this incident...well it wouldn't be a tall tale because that was truly hellacious
Dang those bull fighters are heroes. 👍
Heroes to LOSERS 😆😆🤡🤡🤡
I can hear the famous Bob Tallman as the Stadium Announcer in the background
Wow that's crazy great job helping him 👏 👍
That bull was a good bull. But damn i never seen anyone locked on like that before. Thats crazy shit
I remember watching this live as a kid. My grandpa loved bull riding, westerns, and racing. I also saw Dale Earnhardt, and Owen Hart pass away live on tv, 9/11.. Rosie O'Donnell. My childhood was crazy. 80s-2000s was nuts. But that didnt mean 2020s is supposed to try and up the ante.
What happened with Rosie O'Donnell? Or do I not want to know...?
2020's is definitely going to up the ante. You have no idea what's coming... 😬
I would like to see the list of injuries to that arm that was hung up. Its got to be all kinds of tore up
bro super glued his damn glove to that bull lmaooooo
Top 10 maybe even top 5 most dangerous profession in the world.
He got there with the nickname "Tuff" and left with the nickname "Tuffest"
everyone involved was tuff... oooof !
Yet he continued his career and would meet Bodacious.
The real hero is the man who made Tuff’s hat.
Holy crap that's intense!
Mad respect
Tuffs shout for beers 🍻 that night
OLE TUFF, ALWAYS WALKS OUT OF THE ARENA, COWBOY UP !!!
Those were some tough brave men!
And I was complaining about the traffic going into Stanley Park. Your Chauffeur, J Bruce, Hollywood North 🇨🇦
What a sophisticated country
"Tuff, can you touch your toes??".
"Left hand, yeah real easy, right hand, not so much".
When you mess with the bull, you get the horns.
This reminded me of lane frost on red rock for the second time on the movie 8 seconds when everyone tried to help
Brave dudes!
Wow! These cowboys are as brave as they are tough. Football, hockey, rugby, boxing, none of these sports got anything on these bull riders.
The clowns are the heros and toughest cowboys. God bless them
Wow just wow
Great work bull fighter 🖐️😁
Another thing to get ptsd from, these guys are real heroes
Bull riders are all balls and half nuts.
Bull fighters are f**king heroic!
