- A cheese making business in the Alps is the project of Ethiopian entrepreneur, Agitu Ideo Gudeta. Forced to flee Ethiopia, she has built a new life in Italy.
A political activist forced to flee Ethiopia has built a new life for herself in northern Italy, where she’s founded a successful business producing and selling goat’s cheese. The move has helped increase numbers among an increasingly rare breed of the animals, which are allowed to graze on abandoned communal pastures.
Agitu Ideo Gudeta had to leave her homeland eight years ago after getting involved in protests against land grabs by international corporations. Arriving in Europe, the trained sociologist had to start again from scratch - and set out to found a business in the alpine Trento region. At the ‘La Capra Felice’ or ‘The Happy Goat’, she only uses milk from Pezzata Mochena goats, a local indigenous breed whose numbers have declined dramatically in the last few years. Starting with a herd of just 15 goats, Gudeta now has 180, and her firm has attracted media attention at both the national and international levels. Young people from all over the region are flocking to her dairy farm to learn how to make her popular cheese. The documentary tells the story of a brave entrepreneur with a smart approach who has managed to turn her concept into a success story.

They did not object to her comings , and indeed she was very welcomed. She is loved by the locals, and rightly so, she is an asset to the community. I wish she would understand the feeling of the rest of Italian people, before passing judgment. Would she rather live in Ethiopia?
For those who make baseless assumptions, she wasn’t murdered by racist Italians, but by a Ghanaian seasonal worker she hired to help with the business. What a wonderful soul who inspired many others and a tragic story.
Thankyou Italy, for Agitu to shine and be successful in her dreams. That was all she needed back home hard working, bright and beautiful. Hope her legacy will continue here and in her hometown Ethiopia. RIP dear.

I watched this documentary some time ago and was so amazed by Agitu Ideo~ such a strong, independent, inspiring and beautiful women. Two days ago I was flipping through a Economist magazine (not my regular read) where there was an article about her work and tragic death. I literally couldn’t believe and start searching this documentary again hoping that it wasn’t her! But sadly it was. I prey for her soul that night before going to sleep~women I have never met but touched me deeply. So devastating! May she rest in peace and justice be done for the men who killed her🙏💔
Why would someone attack her? She has brought so much to her community, she has vision and goals. May the person who attacked her fall in their own traps, and may retribution quickly befall them.

I found in Canada people love immigrants when they bring in money, invest, etc, etc just like my parents did...then economy collapse, now they don't like immigrants. Especially in this COVID-19 pandemic. It has nothing to do with being fluent in local language.
