Is the NTW-50 Good for Engineers? - A BF2042 Guide

  • After getting a bunch of comments asking about the NTW-50 in my Anti-Tank Engineering Guide, I decided to pick up the NTW and see whether it could be a good alternative to the 4 weapons which I recommend using as an engineer, those being the 4 which can equip the Underbarrel AP Launcher: AK-24, SFAR-M GL, LCMG, SVK
    In this video I break down what I learned through my experience playing with it. I provide damage numbers and some tips to help you out if you hope to pick the NTW-50 up! As well as answering the question, can this be used as an effective anti-tank weapon? Even if you aren't interested in the review of the weapon, we can all can enjoy some pretty sweet Battlefield 2042 NTW-50 Clips!
    I know this is shorter than my usual videos, but I thought it an interesting enough topic to cover, I've got more in the works and hopefully should have another video out in a couple of weeks!

    Really can't thank you enough for that shout out -- extremely kind of you, as you know I've been a huge fan of your vids since starting here. I still think the EMP is better than the Smoke Grenade though! Sorry I'm so late in posting my thanks, it's a public holiday here in SG so been with the lad at the Zoo all day.
    I love the NTW-50, particularly the meatiness of the shot (sound effect, in-flight projectile visuals and the satisfying reload animation). I really like the projectile physics unlike the Rorsche-Mk4 which has zero drop off (makes sense, it's a fricking rail gun going at least Mach 5!). Vehicle damage is deeply disappointing BUT that said, last I used it the NTW-50 does a bloody good chunk against Nightbirds. You won't kill it on 100% health, but if you see one smoking take your shot. The ultimate joy is sniping Snipers. I'm a terrible Sniper and I'd be lucky to get 5 good kills in a round, but it is a cracking feeling getting them at their own game!

      Same here bud! I hope this helps get the broken cog turning in the youtube algorithm. Let me know if you see a noticeable influx! Maybe when the new AT grenade comes out, we'll come to a consensus on what the best grenade is. Until then imma ninja dust out!
      It's a shame that it just isn't very viable as an AT weapon, I see no reason to make it not do a similar damage as the AP underbarrel at close range then just have the damage drop at range appropriately as to not be too strong at long ranges. The one-shot potential made it much more enjoyable than if I needed to be good at getting headshots. I probably wouldn't have been able to even unlock the High-Powered rounds if the one-shot didn't exist.

    Love this, marz. I agree. And ypur short range scope is not over or underrated. Like you said. 100 meter shots, or 2 shots. Also, i quickscope with this thing close range like a pro. And i play kn xbox. Love this video, it genuinely feels like a real review. Please do more.

      We'll see what Dice has in store for us. I really think if they just focus on making good content for this game, they can make more money than if they just move onto the next. There is still so much more that they can do and now that it is in a really fun state it seems like a bad idea to just drop it. But EA execs have always been short sighted in this regard.

    Coming back to the game since launch and found this video. Sucks to see the nerfs. It was so fun using it during the launch period. Also had to use it often against at the time that was OP BOLTE.

      It was very good upon release, so I can see why they changed it, but Dice always seem to go too far. It seems like it easier to nerf into obscurity than actually balance. The Bolte is another case of that. It was too strong, then they made it useless, and honestly, it's almost never picked these days...

    I find the NTW-50 & the Rosch work best with Liz or when you're running Javelin, as both of those will usually have you further away from the action where chip damage from the NTW or Rorsch can sometimes ensure a kill.

      I considered expanding this video to include the Rosch, but it really does very little damage against vehicles, even in its single shot fire. In fact, does it even do anything to heavy armour? I seem to have a specific feeling that it doesn't.

    I once put a tank in a corner as I chased it dodgin every shell it shots with Liz. Bought meself the NTW 50 and scrapped it in one magazine after 2 Liz rocket. Felt like a badass that time, never happend again since

      Nice :) I love BF moments like that. It's what makes this game so special to me honestly!
      I had the opposite happen while working on this video. I used 3 full clips and 2 Lis rockets on a MBT and during the NTW fire, the driver just got out and started repairing from behind. I couldn't out damage him 😞

    Love the NTW but it takes a particular skill set and I avoid vehicles. Useless playing as a sniper and you definitely need the backup shotgun.

      It was a lot of fun; I was just sad I didn't get the anti-vehicle weapon I was expecting. I love the one shot potential and would recommend that to everyone. Also pairing this with the Super 500 was amazing, I would have struggled a lot more without it. Would completely recommend it!

    Thanks for the great video! Yeah they should buff the AP round on this sniper! You should try the LMG from season 4 with Anti-vehicule rounds. Shooting the m5 recoiless and then spray the tank with the LMG it is very fun! I think the LMG is called the RTP something!

      Too far it seems. You are better off just sticking with the regular anti-materiel rounds. I doubt they will, but it would be nice if they could come back to the high-powered rounds and maybe give them some updates to make them a little more viable.

      @Marzipan Dan wayyy too far. But that's what the new DICE does. It's easier to nerf something unique into obscurity than spend the time and resources to balance it correctly, unfortunately.

      @@RobLeonard Yep... It is a big shame. There is definitely lots of wiggle room in this weapons kit to find that sweet spot that would make them viable but not broken, but unfortunately it is exactly what you say, they don't want to put the work in.

    I just haven’t given the NTW a chance, but I DO remember the utter brokenness of the Battlefield 5 AT rifles. You have to mount a bipod to even ADS but there was a certain little glitch that made it all worth it in armored warfare. All you had to do was use the Demolition Grenade in your grenade slot. You’d throw it down and pick it up, but you’d hold the button when picking it back up. This would screw all the bolt-action rifles and you could fire them as fast as you could pull the trigger. As you can imagine, killing tanks instantly is hilarious and it’s the best (il)legitimate method of killing that one guy who’s been on the tank killstreak for a while!

      That sounds hilarious, I never knew about that! I went back to BF5 a few months ago to see how it was doing, and it is really rough. There are cheaters everywhere.

      It has been absolutely nerfed. I don't know why Dice frequently nerfs things too far and never comes back to them to determine whether they over did it. There is no reason this shouldn't at least do comparable damage as the AP launchers at close range and then just have that damage fall of quite quickly at further ranges.
      If you haven't already the SVK has an AP launcher and is a nice change of pace from the other weapons available. It takes a bit to unlock, but the weapon itself is a very good marksman rifle which two shots in most engagement ranges!

    I find close range sniping useful with this gun. Put on a thermal site and it becomes a beast out to 100 m or more...

    I’ve got mastery 110 on the NTW, and I would not recommend for anti vehicle, for the reasons you stated. Use something else, like an AP launcher, orJavlin/recoilless.

      Thanks for agreeing! As someone who is fairly new to the weapon, it is good to have some veteran jump in and back me up on this. Hopefully the high powered rounds get some love in the future? Probably not, but we can dream!

      @@marzipandan767 I feel like it’s more to discourage heli players from getting too close, as it does about 25 damage to stealth heli/little bird, and getting the last shot in to armor get a kill sort of weapon. I personally think it’s fine as is, because if it was too good, everyone would start using it and vehicles player such as myself would not be able to do much. It’s really outstanding when 2 or more people are both putting rounds into heavy armor, as that will force them to retreat.

      @@paulinapeak I think they could find a better balance with the high powered rounds, right now there really isn't a good argument for taking them since the downside of losing your one-shot is just too much. I agree, we don't want to ruin vehicle gameplay, but I think there is definitely more that could be done in order to find the sweet spot.

      @@marzipandan767 Well to be fair as a tanker we already can’t do crap to play the objective or really any meaningful way that tanks are meant to be played without being insta deleted by 10 rockets, AGM, spiderman and flying squirrels packing c5 to list just a few. Tanks are pathetically weak in this game and its an all time low in the series for tanks and I have been here since the beginning of battlefield. What im saying is it doesn’t matter to us if the NTW50 gets buffed our survivability is already pathetically low as is in a sea of easy win GG buttons infantry has against us.

      @Hero of Time I think it depends on a lot of things how well a tank can perform. I agree that a solo driver has a really hard time surviving. But when you load the tank up with 3 or 4 passengers who can act as another set of eyes and use some really strong underrated weapons, you increase your survivability massively. Then combine that with a driver who knows to push slowly, to always give themselves a way out, and knows how to use both combinations of their thermal smoke and APS appropriately, then tanks can be really effective.
      C5 is the biggest problem. It can be thrown too far, and almost everyone can carry it. If your passengers can keep an eye out for them, you can have a really successful game.
      I think it's frustrating because you need to depend on others, and you can not control the quality or even the presence of those players.

    I mainly use it to just tag every vehical out of my range so when they do eventually get blown up i get all the assist points

      You can get the same by spotting them with the Q key :P Since the score board doesn't distinguish between spot assists and actual assists.

    I always loved the ntw, but I'm playing from Costa Rica 😅. So my ping is usually 10 or 15 higher from people playing in US or EU.
    I'm usually running the underbarrel AP launcher,recoiless and some emp granades to stagger

Though personally I can't give up the smoke grenades since I get so much utility out of them, but the EMPs are a good pairing either way!

    another well researched guide. ive never used the ntw but i wasnt surprised in the least with your findings about ap ammo. so why would anyone handicap themselves with the ntw if they can have lcmg with ap ubgl AND 150 rounds of ap with much higher dps on top.

      Thanks for saying! It's just disappointing... I am sure they could find a good balance with this weapon's High-Powered rounds in order to make the NTW viable and not broken at the same time, but it seems like Dice overnerf things so that they don't have to deal with the issues anymore. After all if no one is playing with it then there is no one to complain about it being overpowered.

    You're slightly underselling the heavy AP NTW. It can actually hit for more than just 5 damage; it gets bonus damage against the tracks and rear plate. Against MBTs from a reasonable distance, you can hit as high as 7 per shot if you hit the tracks from behind. However, damage numbers not withstanding, it is also significantly better at part disables than it lets on, often only taking 2 shots to disable wheels and tank tracks, stopping the vehicle dead in its tracks.
    I still wouldn't take the NTW over my AK-24, LCMG or SVK for AT, but the NTW might see some utility with Recons or as part of a dedicated tank hunter squad for TaS (Track and Smack)

    Something else worth noting is that it will on occasion do more than 10 damage when shooting at and MBT from very short range, but I have not found how to reliably cause this damage so it may just be the result of a hitreg bug.

      The really sad thing about the damage numbers on the NTW is that the AP rounds on the other sniper rifles can actually do more damage in less time. The XCE BAR leads the pack with 30 rounds of AP doing 3 damage per shot at 60 RPM and a 2.58s reload.

      The damage numbers I tested in a closed environment, and I agree you do occassionally see different damage numbers. I think one thing that might be causing it is that damage values actually contain unseen decimal values. I don't know how the game deals with these when displaying damage numbers to players or to vehicles drivers as health pools. Additionally, unlike all of the other projectiles I usually gather the damage numbers for bullets are subject to damage drop off.
      My main issue is that the damage increase is not worth the loss in one shot potential. I see no reason that Dice couldn't make the HP rounds do closer to AP underbarrel damage at close range and then just have it fall off steeply at further ranges.
      It could also be noted that the damage number system in the game is bugged with some weapons, which makes it an unreliable tool. If you've ever used Crawfords turret in a live game against vehicles, the damage value is grossly inflated. When I test, I check the health of the vehicle, which I take as the true value.

      @@marzipandan767 The damage from Crawford's turret (and other miniguns) is inflated because the game rounds all decimals up.
      A hit that deals even just 0.01 damage will track in the damage numbers as a 1 damage hit and every successive hit will stack as such, so by the time you deal 1 damage at 0.01 damage per hit it will read as if you dealt 100 damage. The same applies to the health numbers, it will show as 100% as long as you have even 99.001%. However, you can get the exact damage numbers if you create a Portal mode with custom rules to track damage.
      According to Sorrow's Scribbles (a Google Doc that has all the thoroughly tested damage numbers) the NTW will do 5.35 damage to the rear of an MBT from less than 100 meters, which will show as a 6, however you can get that up to at least 6.65 by hitting the tracks from the rear (both hits combined show as 12 damage to the driver) This damage number is not currently listed in the document because no other weapon has this behavior.
      The heavy AP NTW used to deal worthwhile damage, at launch it was almost as powerful as the M5 while the basic rounds were only half as effective, but it suffered a string of nerfs because Dice saw that people were almost always running a launcher gadget and figured that having an effective anti-vehicle primary on top of that was too much. They were nerfing the NTW almost every other update until they separated the classes.
      The AT grenade launcher actually received a similar nerf, originally being better at damaging vehicles than the RPF-7 is now, though I think they never would have touched it if I hadn't been pointing out it's effectiveness whenever someone was complaining about a perceived lack of AT firepower.

      I hate how we don't have in game numbers like this! Why isn't this information just given to us?
      Oh yeah it used to be stupid good! I recall watching a squad with them all equipped just wipe out tanks with no difficult! It was gross. I've not tested the DPS of the RPG, but I know the AP underbarrel with the AK-42 does out DPS the M5. Definitely a must if you are playing Engineer.

    My take on it is... get some cool infantry kills, and if vehicles... only use it againt very weakened armor... or against the stealth chopper... this thing anihilates them with the high power, 5 shots and you kill them, and if they're already damaged... oh boi...
    But not man... those buffs you mentioned would make this gun way too OP... the damage reduction against infantry makes sense... its a high penetrating round which will transfer slightly less energy hitting a soft body... this happens with .50BMG greentip rounds. But I don't see reason for the ammo reduction... they dont increase in caliber, its just the material... so that makes no sense... about damage... no man... if you increase the damage more, it'll be like in the launch days... it did so much dagame to tanks, as a driver you couldnt do anything... APS system wont protect you against it... it's a bulled afterall... you will be a huge sutting duck getting all those hits from the top by some weird camping Mackey gimmicky player which we all know makes up for at least 20% the player base

      Yeah, it does seem like it is meant to be used like this, getting the last hits on a weakened target. They are good against choppers if you can lead your shots!
      I'm not suggesting all of them at the same time, I think it would take some balancing and tweaking, but I do think that they could be made somewhat relavant. Right now, there is no reason to ever take the highpowered rounds because their 'advantage' is so minimal. I agree there is a lot to consider, I don't want to make vehicle play bad and unfair, I love vehicles in BF.

    it stops tank health regen and is really good against ram tank, aa tank and cav brawler. As long as you never use ap rounds it is solid.

      Oh yeah, the AP underbarrel is crazy good! It used to have higher DPS than the recoilless when I first made my AT engineer guide, but recently they increased the speed of the recoilless reload so I am not sure if it still outperforms that, it's probably still pretty close.

      @@NAVYPROUD34 Looks like you were correct about the 2 shots on spawn. Thankfully it is at least implemented like the M5 where you can carry one additional one rocket. I saw your comment on GhostGaming's recent video, and it reminded me to reply here!
      Personally, I'm loving the RPG I like its increased damage. I've been playing around with the portal weapons but once I can pair this up with an underbarrel AP launcher I reckon I'll be tearing through armour :)

    Honestly, the AP rounds should just have slightly more drop and slightly less bullet velocity, keep the 100 damage to infantry, and up the damage to vehicles by maybe 2. And make the chamber time between rounds 0.25-0.75 seconds longer.. I think that would be my rework at least.

      I'm fine trading a lot for that one-shot damage. It's too much to lose. I get that Dice don't want the AP rounds to be too powerful and ruin tank gameplay, but in their current state, they are just bad. They definitely should change something.

    Well I do know that the high power rounds are really useful for the sniper rifles because it decreases your bullet drop at extreme long ranges that’s how I use them

      I don't play a lot with the other snipers but are the high-powered rounds of the other snipers the same as the Anti-Material high powered rounds? I didn't do a lot of long-range sniping because I suck at it, so I wouldn't know if the bullet drop decreased with the A-MHP rounds.

      Some tips off the top of my head:
      - The obvious one is to just play more. Specifically, against people. A lot of people grind weapons and attachments in solo or coop but that's a lot of time wasted playing against bots who do not play like people. You end up developing a few bad habits.
      - The weapon proficiencies are minor, so if you want to use an assault rifle while using the engineer, you should, and you shouldn't feel bad about not getting the weapon proficiency. Sometimes I am just having no luck with the LMGs so it is nice to switch to something which can benefit me more based on what I am facing.
      - Don't always run directly towards the enemy or your capture point. Depending on the on the situation consider moving around instead of directly to it in order to either exploit a potential flanking opportunity or better cover. A lot of this game is positioning.

      Also, if you find you are dying a lot, you could try sticking with a support teammate.

      Yep, I agree :) See the description. The AP underbarrel is just too valuable as an AT weapon and unfortunately the NTW-50 cannot compete. Hopefully when they update the portal weapon with new attachments, we'll have some more choices. Or hell, maybe Dice'll go back and make the NTW a little better... We can dream right?

    If you want anti vehicle rounds use the Crawford mini-gun (it is actually pretty good at finishing off vehicles and doing chopper damage). The anti vehicle rounds on all of the guns are basically worthless 😓. I also recommend the RPG (best anti tank item in the game) over the recoilless. The only downside of the RPG is less ammo but it hits harder. If you have an angel teammate it is strictly better 👍.

    The high power deserves somewhat of a potency to be a bit better turns out before the first season they nerfed the NTW and how it acts kinda like battlefield 1s martini henry
    This somewhat acts like that except slow chambering otherwise W video

      Glad to hear that you agree. I think with the NTW especially, there are so many parameters that Dice can play around with in order to make it good but balanced.

    I wish the High Power rounds had a bit more spice to them, they really don't feel like they're worth taking out compared to the standard ammo for the weapon. Especially given the lack of one-shot capability on infantry. The only thing I'd say the High Power rounds have over the underbarrel AP launcher is the fact that you get a higher total amount of ammo and it can be resupplied more quickly by ammo boxes. Doesn't hit as hard or as fast but at least you can keep up a consistent rhythm with it.
    Would be kind of cool if the NTW-50 also had a "standard issue" magazine. Forget the damage to vehicles, keep the player damage the same, but give it a flatter ballistic trajectory and faster velocity so it's easier to use at range.

      They definitely aren't worth taking unfortunately... I hope Dice comes back and reevaluates them, but at this point, I feel like they are done with them. Just nerf them into obscurity so no one complains about them... it's so sad.
      Yeah, getting ammo for your AP underbarrel is rough, especially if you don't have a good Angel dropping crates everywhere.

    I completely agree with your assessment. The NTW is great fun against infantry, but is near worthless against vehicles. It does OK damage to light choppers, but not enough to kill them even if you land every shot in your magazine. When the game first released it was a lot better. If you were hitting a tank from behind it was actually better than the M5. Sadly Dice decided that was too OP and nerfed it into the ground.

      From videos I remember watching on the NTW back then, it looked amazing, if not a little too strong. But I hate that Dice do this. They 'fix' an issue by just nerfing it to make it useless so no one will ever use it again. That way, no one will complain about it...

      @@marzipandan767 Yep, its classic Dice. Take minor problems and nerf them so hard that the weapons become borderline useless and then call them good. But other guns *cough* RM68 *cough* get left untouched in an overpowered state for months. Helicopter pilots regularly get 50/1 KDRs, and when they make Lis actually effective against them, the pilots complain a bit and Lis gets nerfed into the ground. Really frustrating IMO

      Lis is definitely harder to use than when you could fly rings around choppers before detonating. I do think that she was very strong then.
      Super frustrating thought, I wish they would just put in the time to properly balance things. I hate how this is what a 'live service' is.

    @6:06 - There is one exception. Close to medium range helicopters! Whenever your teammates are trying to capture a point, you can sit somewhere along the outskirts, in a bush and wait for the helicopters that are farming your teammates. Each shot, at close range, does around 25% damage!!!
    Be careful though, they get P!SSED! hahahaha

    Dude you should make another video but with AP machine guns. If you are in a good spot and you unload the mag you can do a lot of damage, even better now with the 2 rpgs seems reasonable to use them if you are exclusive for tank hunting.

      I tried them, specifically I tried the AP rounds with the most recently released LMG (I think it's the RPT or something like that). They do pretty decent damage, but you absolutely nerf the hell out of yourself against infantry, it's so bad that I don't think the tradeoff is worth it. The damage against medium armour was pretty good, but you could also just run Crawford and his turret and get a very similar amount of damage without losing your primary weapons damage.
      You could argue that you could use the T menu whenever you need to change, but the reload time with the LMG takes so long, that you'll usually miss your opportunity (or die) by the time you are ready to fight.

    I came to the same conclusion, The nerf they did was too hard, makes the Heavy AP rounds useless. Would be interesting if they increased the dmg against air, and increased bullet velocity by a bit. Another issue not mentioned is the low amount of ammo you get from spawn, I found i quickly ran through all my rounds to then spent several minutes looking for ammo or just trying to survive off secondary til i found ammo.

      I think they need to do something with them in order to make them viable in any respect. But unfortunately, when Dice normally nerfs something this hard like this, they don't usually come back to them... It's a shame, it could have been a really unique weapon, but now it will just be that sniper that one shots.

    Yeah the NTW-50 was acctually really good before they nerfed it before season 1. I have alot of destroyed vehicles beacuse of it when grinding for 1200 kills with it. After the nerfed I mostly used it to tickle armor for others to kill it and me just making their regeneration to be stopped. But then after the class update and every engineer having repair tool, stuff gets repaired waaay often so no really use for the armor rounds at all. It´s a shame but also you did have a really big up on armor before since they could not really spot your position, you could be way further away then an underbarrels range plus you could shoot alot of rounds on an object if you hade elevated position. So I understand the nerf but then again I feel like they should make the rounds faster so you acctually can do stuff! :)

      I remember seeing players absolutely delete LATV and Nightbirds with the high powered rounds back during release.
      They definitely over nerfed, in my opinion. Right now, they just seem useless. I think they have enough parameters to adjust with this weapon that they could find a good balance.

    Every BF Game had 50cal gun. Especially in BF2, 3, 4 and Bad Company 1 and 2! I never forget what kind of fun I had with the M-82 Barrett. For me it looks like that Dice, while BF2042 was in the production, almost forgot to put a 50cal sniper rifle into the game, and the NTW 50 is the result of it. And I don't get it that this gun is only effective in close quarter. I mean really?

      I mean in times today people who creating games should not underestimate the power of all those weapons. And in all those years they always making the same mistakes. I´m pretty sure that the 50cal back then were not one shot kill, but defenetly had more power in terms of destruction, and left some big holes in metal, and on bodys more then that, thats for sure. The problem today are those speed kids, the CoD kids, who need slide cancel and bunny hopping and jumping from a 10m high building without any broken bones. Those kids are the first who crying when you come around with a overpowered sniper rifle like this. Cause speed gamer doesn´t like to get killed by camping snipers! ^^ ! So they nerf them from the beginning already!

    The aek also has an underbarrel -ap- launcher like the ak. Considering these weapons will get 2024 attachements in season 5, i think the aek will be worth a try!

    Have you tested the bullet velocity of the high power? People say that its much faster than the default allowing for lower drop and better long rang sniping against infantry but I'm not sure.

      Honestly, I think that if you are looking for a good sniper then NTW isn't the best. It's one-shot potential is great in a pinch, but if you are going for those long head shots, then other options might be much more viable.

    I had loads of fun running the NTW with high power and focusing on vehicles. I chose to use Irish as my class and focus on hunting Hinds in particular. There is a (admitted a bit cringy) NTW-50 AA/AV compilation on my channel. I'd be honored if you checked it out :)

      @@marzipandan767 Oh yeah, I'm not saying it was a very effective and efficient way to play Battlefield, not at all. My score would suffer horrendously in some rounds. I could still kill infantry with headshots or by finishing off wounded players. For the most part I used the G57, which is a beast. Running Irish also meant ammo was not a problem. The most important thing however was that I had a lot of fun. Killing those vehicles, especially aircraft, made dying 5 times in a row before totally worth it for me :P

    ntw 50s stregth is damage over time. and its anti armor range.
    does not realy work vs tanks. if you have to hit the bagside of the tank or the tracks
    decent vs dedicated heli crews. sinse the damage can be landed outside M5 range. you go tickle tickle on them and when they come to you. hack, emp. M5 is youre option.
    blocking repairs is also under estimated. 1 rocket on tank he might not care. rocket nr2. he cares. he want to repair. 50 says no. now you have the upper hand...
    if i remember right. it goes trough APS. so the one that always drives of at 5 %....
    normal rounds are good out to 150 to 200m, damage descriped in video. some heavy drop after 200 though. Anti armor rounds goes faster drops less. for those 200m+ shots.
    its a real bad m5 launcher. but you get way more ammo. its a real bad long range sniper. but under 100m its king.
    in in BF weapons that decent in most situations tents to be "the best" this is not it. i use it as the tool with its pros and cons.
    i still pitty players getting hit by it. to those i play with i calle "heavy" sniper if i hear or feel it on the battlefield. and if i headshot sombody with it i still laugh, and say that was just overkill.
    i run red dot for close, 5x to avoid scope glint. 6x termal because i can.

      Against medium armour and choppers I can generally agree with you, however I still think that the AP underbarrel launcher is the better choice for engineer. Losing your one-shot potential with this weapon is just too much of a penalty.
      I had a fight with a MBT with the NTW-50 high powered rounds where the driver was getting out and out healing my damage. It was so frustrating.
      I am definitely a fan of the lower Zoom scopes for this. Scope glint is too much of a giveaway.

    Why would a bullet that does more damage to armour, do less to infantry. Why nerf against infantry when it's not very effective against armoured vehicles

      Probably for balance reasons. But it's just too much of a weakness of those bullets :/ it's a massive shame because they could have been pretty decent with some fine balancing.

    I noticed that vehicles have weak points, and the HP-AP does really good damage when hitting them.
    Unfortunately, it still takes away the 1 shot, and the amount of time it takes to switch rounds still makes it unviable

      I believe that the rear is the weak point, and I added those damage numbers to the video where the format of my damage numbers is Front/Side&Top/Rear. Are you saying that there is a weaker point than the rear?

      You can shoot the tires of vehicles slowing them down for a couple of moments, and it does extra damage. But this only applies once, and then you have to wait for that part to be fixed before doing extra damage again.
      You can also do this to the transport planes engines and a couple of other things.
      I have zero idea if a tank even has a weak point as shooting the treads seem to do nothing, and I wouldn't know where else to shoot 😅

    Are armor piercing rounds any good on the weapons that can take them ?

      The do okay damage to medium and light vehicles, but at the cost of infantry damage, and to me it feels like the trade is not worth it.
      You could argue that you can use the T menu to swap into them when you need them, but usually you'll be doing this with an LMG where reloading is very time consuming. You'll usually miss your opportunity before you are ready to fight. Of course, they come with the advantage of being uncounterable, so vehicles trying to hide behind APS will be vulnerable.
      I'd recommend sticking with the AP underbarrel. Hopefully in the next update to the portal weapons, some of them get AP underbarrel grenade launchers.

      It's worse, absolutely not worth it. I was originally going to add details of the railgun into this guide, but it has been nerfed to hell against both vehicles and just generally. So much so that I couldn't play with it. The charge time of the single shot fire is so excessive.

      I agree with the first statement, but I feel like running the Piercing rounds isn't worth it since you'll be nerfing your damage against infantry. You could argue that you can switch using the T-Menu, but it takes so long to reload that usually your opportunity will be missed :/. Just my opinion. I'll stick with my AP underbarrel for now.

    the weapon damage in this game is dumb, there are onoly a hand ful of weapons that actually work, like the scar with no recoil lol,

      I think recoil in 2042, and in most BF games in general, is very low. It's an easier shooter than more milsim games.

      I would say at least the High-powered rounds deserve it in my opinion. Even if it is just damage to shots that are close range.
