- Here is a quick unboxing and overview video on the brand new 2013 Mapex PF1000DTW Falcon double bass drum kick pedals. Out of the box, they appear to be very high quality, smooth and fluid, and most important... fast! I was a little disappointed that they decided not to include the other two drives on this new model (the strap and direct drive options), but I am still very satisfied with the overall build quality and attention to detail that Mapex put into these new pedals. Hope this video helps and drummers that are thinking about getting a set of these pedals to add to their arsenal. Thanks for watching!

the mapex falcons are incredibly and amazingly smooth, nothing like any other pedals i've tried. the smoothness is NOT A LIE!
Hey just picked up a pair today. I appreciate you doing the video brother.
Thanks for this complete review!
That is such a bummer. Well, thanks for the heads up!
I personally like the Falcons over the Speed Cobras. I have owned them both, and the Falcons quality seems higher, and they just feel better under your feet IMHO. Both good pedals though.
Yeah man I love the Falcon pedal! I just got mine in the mail like 30 minutes ago prior to me writing this comment and I just started unboxing mine while u was watching your review. I too owned the older Falcon model pedals but sold them with my old Tama kit for a brand new Mapex MyDentity kit. I can fully agree on everything good and disappointing about the newer model. From the new rugged, more durable look and feel of the black granite textured hardware to the unfortunate fact that there is no strap drive to come with it. Also they didn't include the optional choice of cams either. I need to pick up the black pursuit cam and strap drives. All in all I give this new model and your review a 10/10!
Nice. Still your pedal of choice to this day?
+Larry Tate Yes! Absolutely my friend!
1:46 God bless you
I just picked these up; the strap drive is included
The falcons are good if you are a standard heel up player but if you use the swivel or heel toe techniques it can get difficult because the narrow foot board design.
Doesn't the speed cobras come with a lot more features though?
I would think that they would be better with all the choice springs, bearings and such...
So after playing these for a bit, would you say there is an advantage to owning these over the old ones? From what I can tell, they look really similar, but the old ones are cheaper and come with the nylon drive and another cam (pursuit). I saw somewhere else that they did change the cam a bit. Would you say this new model is actually worth $100 more?
This is a relatively old videos so I'm just taking a shot in the dark here. Are you still using them and how do you like them if you are?. I'm looking at these or the speed cobras. Which ones would you rather have now?
They are both great pedals, and I think you get more for your money with the Mapex, however, I ended up growing to love the speed cobras once I got them setup right. The adjustments aren’t as great on the SCs as the Mapex, but I got used to them and feel I can play faster with them then the Mapex. I have switched to the DW Machined doubles now, but all for the price these two pedals are fabulous.
so the PF1000LTW lefty edition should be the 2013 updated model? I found a set for pretty cheap so Im hoping it's up to date
I see some wrinkles on the pedal board, is that just a protective adhesive from the product being new or is the actual logo that got the wrinkles?
Yea, those are just the protective adhesive stickers, you peel them off when your ready to use them.
Bless you! haha ;)
Whatever Mapex did to make this pedal "better" and to justify the new price point of $399.99 is lost on me. Honestly, I have used both the old and new versions now and while these are still great pedals, I think you got more for your money with the previous version in my opinion.
many try not talking as much but they are good peddles.
Are u still using them?
They suck ass
No no those are just protective plastic stickers, I have the pair of Falcons one generation before these and I have to say, besides minor logo designs on the pedals, I don't see much of a difference.
While *I* was watching your review. Smh typos.....
