- Today during this episode of Cool Tools I'm sharing a very cool wool pressing mat from Oliso. This 100% New Zealand Wool 14" x 14" square mat is 1/2" thick. It naturally reflects the heat back onto the fabric, so you're pressing both sides of the fabric at the same time! Join me to see what sets this mat apart from all the rest!

Another use for those mats. You can pin into them. If you are copying a Garment, where you need to spread out your garment and pin on the seam lines to mark edges etc., a larger size would be wonderful for this. I have a very large foldable Matt, that is no longer made. It comes in so handy every now and then. four of these together would be great.
Great tip! OMG... Perfect for the Great Rub Off Class!!! Thank you for sharing that tip xo
Well now, that is a really cool Cool Tool! My bank account is shrinking with each Cool Tools video you publish. 😂 I’m on the way to Wisconsin today; driving from SC to see my grands. Later, gator! 😘
:))))) sorry about that... I have been called a sewing tool enabler in the past! Enjoy your grands!! I'm all set up in Kentucky, ready to teach my first class this afternoon (Sewing Mistakes, How to Avoid them and How to Fix Them)
Don’t need a new iron, but the ironing tiles are awesome.
They really are, I think I'm going to order a few more so I can make a bigger surface to work on!
Portable pressing mat is a really great idea
:) Yes, that are... also kicking myself for not bringing them with me to Kentucky to share with my class! Thanks for watching
I have been using a 20-year-old Walmart iron forever. I might just have to upgrade. finally. My steam button doesn't work. I know that angle that I have to put my iron at in order to get it to steam, but there's no actual button. I guess it's time to pull the trigger, pun intended
I’m so happy for you that your iron lasted 20 years!!! If you do decide to get one of these oliso Irons, I think you will love it!! Thanks for watching!
Are the mats safe to use in top of cutting mat? Does the steam go through to surface underneath the mat?
I tested using two layered on top of each other… did not heat up my cutting mat :) (I’ve also lived dangerously and ironed on a single layer with no harm to my mat… I think as long as your not pressing the same area on high heat you’ll be ok… (however!!! the instructions say to put them on a heat safe surface.)
Don’t the basting stitches show when you remove them?
Needle holes steam out of most fabrics... but it is a good idea to test the theory on a scrap before working on your garment if you think it's going to be an issue! Thanks for watching
DO you have a discount code for oliso
I'm so sorry, I don't... But now that you're asking, I'm going to see if I can get one! Stay tuned & thanks for watching
